There was a shudder, and the crab was dead. "Yessssss DIBS ON THE CLAW!" Merope shouted, scrambling up the crab. Once on it, he threw his brakes on and stopped. "Er," he began awkwardly. "Does anyone know first aid? We've got some wounded up here."

Muka was pretty proud of himself for his performance in the crab battle. Everyone who was hurt also seemed refreshed as the the corpses of their enemies washed out with the tide.
"Good work everyone!" The strix giggled and had the sudden urge to fly to the top of the castle and perch there victoriously. If he wasn't concerned about it collapsing under his weight, he would have. He did manage to take a piece of crab shell, wash it off, and wear it like a hat.
THE TIDE COMES IN AND...
"Oh look.. the tide is taking out the trash!" He snickered as the tide rolled in, not comprehending fully yet that this was a bad thing...
Soon the water was practically pouring in and Muka's grin started to sag. "Guys?" He squawked, looking upset as the sand around the bottom of their castle started to wash away.
"OH NO!!" He was in too much of a panic suddenly to realize that the damage was not going to be as bad as it seemed. Their clam seemed to help stabilize their castle quite a bit and the amount of water was not as much as it first appeared.

Ulmuka, still in a panic, began to rush around and try to rebuild. Of course being very small it was difficult. The strix couldn't seem to decide what to fix first and so he spent a significant amount of time just eyeing up the building for what looked like the best place to start. He eventually decided where to start and patted the sand down tightly under his hands.

Having decided where to start, the strix was on a roll. He was still grinning but it was clear that he was becoming invested in their trial and the sandcastle was now a priority for him. It was rare to see him focused so much!
He rebuilt a nice little chunk of the wall!

His focus seemed to continue! Ulmuka moved along the castle wall and placed pieces back into place. This was harder when you were little! He fluttered upwards, wiping his hands off on his already sandy pants and grinning.
"Rebuild!" He screeched happily.

"Finally... they are gone...... that was..... eeerrrrrrr.... the worse fun I've had........" Joachim replied as he immediately flopped down into the sand pulling Willow's large floppy hat further down on his head and drawing his knees up to his face. He didn't want to do anything else but sit near the sandcastle and possibly nap until the horseman finally allowed them to be regular size and claim the trial was over.
Just as he closed his eyes the sound of whooshing erupted as the frighten squeaks of mice headed towards the group.
The sea... the sea rolled around the edges of the castle causing parts of it to sag.
"No no no no no....nooooo" He cried running after Muka, at least the clam shell seemed to help a little. Grabbing pieces of sand Joachim tried shoving them back in to places that the water seemed to erase most of their hard work.

Willow watched as some sand washed away from the castle. Well that was unfortunate. Her tail flickered as she frowned but she didn't have near the reaction two of the boils did. "Eh. It happens, we just need to rebuild it."
She pondered as she got up from where she was seated and headed towards the damaged side of the castle. "Well it could be worse." She added it still looked stable enough just a few touch ups. It'd be easier if they were larger but oh well. Willow began to pick up bits of sand and place them where they needed to go. Making sure to carefully place them and nestle them in.

"No, no, no no no no NOOOOO!" Merope wailed as the tide swept in, moving the crab beneath him. The boil scrambled over to one of the large pincers and wedged his feet against it, pushing and flexing with all his might. He struggled, pushing against the crab with his hands and feet. A sickening pop could be heard as the claw was forced off of the crustacean before the tide swept in, washing over the undead boil and crab.
As the water swirled around the sand castle, Merope's hands could be seen clawing at the side of the castle as he tried to pull himself up. His hands gave way under the castle, scattering sand more than anything else. When the tide receded, Merope was covered in it.
He turned his head to one side and spat the grit out, running a hand down his exposed teeth. Merope rubbed his hand against his pant leg to clear it of the sand, grimacing.
It was then that he noticed the activity of his teammates. Merope stared, puzzled and watching with his head tilted to one side. He swished his tail to one side and snapped it, glancing over his shoulder and beaming at his new acquisition. Merope always wanted a crab-claw for a tail. The problem was finding one in his size. Considering the event made them tiny, he was finally able to find one.
Merope pulled his gaze away from his tail, moving forward to use it as a sort of scoop to push sand back onto the castle.

Willow was working on carrying sand over a few at a time and as she walked a piece of sand slipped and landed right on her foot. The tiger's tail fluffed as she let out a string of words that were rather unpleasant as the rest of the pieces of sand fell out of her hands too.
She frowned as she rubbed her foot. "Stupid jacking sand."

Moving sand was so much easier with his tail. It was like a shovel! Merope moved his tail aside, considered, then swung his tail at the sand castle to pound it into place.

Willow after recovering from the dropped sand picked up a few less than her last attempt and brought them back to the broke wall so she could add to the fixing. "This is going really good." She said with a happy nod.

Merope stared at his tail and lifted it, considering. Alright, so using it to pack sand into place wasn't helping. It seemed to do more harm than good in all honesty.
With a shrug, Merope went back to using his new tail's end to scrape sand from the ground up and onto the castle's side.

Amarus seemed to be in a constant daze, this outing... Perhaps it was because she had never been to the beach before, and it was quite confusing to her to try to see through the glare of sand and sun. While the others had claimed crab bits (some of them), Amarus had focused more on sitting down and napping.
After all, that accursed crab had knocked her down to very little remaining health. She did notice that her teammates had begun packing sand into the castle to repair damage done by the tide, however, so she got up out of the sand, brushed herself off as best as she could, and tried to pretend that there was not sand down her shirt. Her very tight shirt.
As she packed sand into one of the walls, she could not help but feel very scratchy. Her distraction ensured very little was done. Still, she was efficient, and contributed something to the castle.

Because every new movement seemed to grate the sand further into her shirt, Amarus did not exactly move quickly. Things were chafing in places she never, ever wanted to chafe, ever again. Not that she had really felt like it in the first place, really.
Amarus furrowed her brows, and pictured her kuji-kiri in her mind, before finally adding a little bit more sand to the castle.
If only life had less ... beach in it. Less beach, more fighting-- Amarus would be happy with that. At the moment, she was so thoroughly bored that her own Lotus Eater aura was starting to get to her.

Enough was enough. The jacking sand had to jacking go. Amarus turned away from her group, silently, and emptied the sand out of her shirt: sweet, sweet relief. She had a strange smile on her face as she went back to pounding the sand into place. She was so happy not to have sand in her shirt, in fact, that she was eerily efficient at the entire endeavour.
Perhaps there was method to this madness. For some reason, Amarus had spent nearly the entire challenge unusually quiet. Most times, she at least had something to say. It seemed like she was conserving her energy-- or perhaps it was merely that she hadn't really gotten much of a chance to get to know her group members, yet, and so she was a little aloof.
