Looking all around as she was, it didn't take Adi long to notice the headstones. Was that a graveyard...? She'd never been to one before, since, well, she didn't know anyone who'd died. Uh, really died. Fortunately, it wasn't something she particularly wanted to explore. Graveyards were sad, and she didn't like to be sad.

"How come the animals aren't running away?"

"They are well used to our presence here. The night elves live among nature while doing their best not to affect it too much... If no one bothers them, they won't bother anyone."

Usually, at least. Teldrasil's illness had drove some of them to aggressive stances, and the fulborgs to madness. "It isn't rare to wake up to a few snoozing nightsabers in the streets, especially in Dolanaar and Starbreeze," Dolanaar could be seen in the distance as they approached it.

"Really? That's so cool!" She woke up to flooxes every morning, but not to big cats! "So the nightsabers, they're like Typala but a different color? Or is there more to it than that?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 2:57 pm

"The same race, but subraces... Kind of the difference in between big cats and the smaller kind, in a sense ?" These sabers were definitively smaller, and one could have an hard time trying to ride one thanks to their size.

"And this is Dolanaar." Elik said as they stepped inside the city proper. It was much smaller than Darnassus was, and Adi would probably understand his description a little better. The buildings were living trees, as within the capital, the stone under their feet the only thing that could really compare to a 'human' city. There were no walls to keep the wilderness out, and no protection - but then again, any invader would have to pass through Darnassus to get here.

"So that's as big as they're gonna get? I thought maybe those were just babies." Adi had been assuming that they were just young cats that were going to grow bigger, but apparently that was not the case. Hmm. "Where do the big ones come from, then?"

She paused as they entered Dolanaar, taking a moment to look around. She kind of liked that it was smaller. "Just how do you make tree houses, anyway?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 4:31 pm

"Yeah, that's as big as this sub-species get. There are bigger sabers with similar patterning, through. The bigger cats mostly live in Winterspring, and some in Darkshore... Well, those who arn't domesticated, that is."

Adi's next question made him smile. "You ask the trees." He chuckled. That was not a metaphor for anything - it was how it was done. "You ask them nicely, and if they agree, they'll allow druids to shape them and help speed their growth. If they don't agree, well, you build your town somewhere else." And that was that.

"So where's Winterspring?" That was the obvious follow-up question, of course, and it probably wouldn't be hard to see where Adi was going with it.

"Really, just like that? Do you think it would work the same at the Pantheon?" Because she totally wanted a tree for a house...even if she lived with Glyph and therefore didn't need a tree house.

"It's a few days away on Kalimdor... and no, we are not going there. Not this time at least." He poked Adi's nose playfully, and figured he might as well drop the bomb, to distract her. "We need to help Whisteria get her things in order."

As for the why, well, he figured she would easily puzzle it out.

"Probably... And it might be easier even." With Glyph so close, probably. If the trees were okay with it, that is.

Adi stuck the tip of her tongue out, and was about to ask about Kalimdor and more about tree houses when he said they needed to help Whisteria get her things in order. Wait... "Is she coming with us?!"

"Yes. We talked last night... And she said that she was going to be coming with me, if I did not remain here." He shook his head, looking at the forest of the distance. "And I... I don't know. I don't think I could be happy here anymore. And I would not want to keep you away from your family..."

Adi had been a little worried that Elik might decide to stay, though she'd been quite distracted from that worry since they arrived. Now that he brought it up, it came back, and her ears flicked forward and back in uncertainty. "Do you...want to stay?"

It was sounding like he didn't, but if he did, what was she going to do?
PostPosted: Mon Jul 30, 2012 5:59 pm

"No..." He shook his head. "....This place might be beautiful, but there is no more happiness for me here." He could have settled back if he'd tried, surely... But he did not even wish to try. To be honest, most days the druid was not even sure what he wanted - the sadness and despair only seemed to vanish when Adi was around.

"Beside, they'd all seem to think im some sort of hero or something." He made a face. "I didn't do anything beside get lost for a year or so and arrive too late to matter." Too late to change anything... and too late to keep his mother from doing what he saw as a mistake. Losing both parents in such a quick succession had left it's mark, but the loss of his mother was the worst pain. Illisia had been a constant in his whole life, and she would not truly be 'gone' until the dragon stopped wearing her face.

Adi would have been much happier to hear that if...well, if Elik hadn't sounded so sad about it. Her ears dropped, and she looked at him for a long moment before hugging him - not with her usual exuberance, but gently. "You weren't too late, and you do matter."

The hug surprised him at first - mostly because it missed all the energy that the werewolf was known for. Still, one arm slid around her, while the other hand's fingers combed through her hair gently.

"I just need time to settle." He smiled, through he was not really certain if he even believed that, himself. "There's just been so much happening in such a short time..."

Adi wagged her tail a little, smiling back at him when he smiled. "There's lots of time, and lots of things to do, too." She'd found that doing things helped her some, even if only as distractions. "Liiike figuring out how to get a really big cat on an erras, and how to turn me into a wolf, and making trees into houses, and..."

She trailed off, smiling a little wider. Distract from sad with happy!
