The question flustered the ghoul even further and wow was that floor interesting. It was probably best not to go into the whole...truth thing, so Emily tried her best to put a believable but completely dishonest spin on it, "U-um I was just...practicing...um...my lurking. A lot. Also it was cozy."

The familiar snorted but was thankfully interrupted by the arrival of Israfel. The witch looked up, relieved and happy to see the siren safe and whole after the whole cornfield incident and the crazy Christmastival attacks, "Hi I-Israfel!" She held out Mr. Monty to be petted.

The cat stared at the bird-thing, half kitty speculation, half come at me bro.

"Umm...protection charms are...really important!" The topic made her bold enough to look both of the other students in the face and stand up a bit straighter, "Y-you just never know when...when...some rockstar, I mean...boil, will suddenly overwhelm your dreams with....masculine charisma and and and no shirt. Or any other clothes. I mean...protection charms are good! Really good! For safety!"

Emily's eyes had widened dramatically and darted around the area as if even now some sort of amazing dangerous daydream would take her over and she'd wake up surrounded by pumpkins and covered in mold.

Good thing she had sewn dozens of protection charms into a hyper-protective girdle that she was even now wearing under her clothes. Hopefully it would be enough. Hopefully.

The siren's mind was currently going 'YAY YAY EMILY YAY KITTY YAYYYYYYY' Pretty simple really. Well that and 'Oh yes, I have protection charms. Ninja pumpkins and all that.' Israfel, not paranoid about hunters, but ninja pumpkins, hard to say where his priorities were. Reaching out he pet Mr. Monty on the head before give some scratches behind the ears. He would come at you bro. With scratches and pets and maybe fish treats. Maybe. He might have eaten his fish jerky earlier.

"I do not think we will have to worry about rockstars. Boils maybe. You are very cute and pretty after all! But this is why we have protection charms." Nodding his ear wings flicked with enthusiasm. Looking at Hel he kept nodding. "Yep! Emily is very smart! She is also very nice. This is why she is a good friend. Oh Oh!" He clapped his hands, somewhat gleeful. "You should come by the dorms sometime Emily! I can make you a cute dress. Because I think you would look very cute in a pretty new dress." Simple thoughts for a simple bird brain. "You too Hel! I can make you both dresses!"

Looking over as the teacher was leading them away Israfel was easily lured into following. Watching the tiny animal with fascination. It was a Professor. Ohhhh. "We should get going now yes?"

The professor waited for some of the noise to die down before continuing, sitting ever-so-still except for the occasional flick of its tail. <That is correct on all accounts. We are made out of Fear and Fear is what makes Halloween. However, noone has answered where exactly Fear comes from, though if you think about it, the answer is rather simple. >

With that, he hopped from the table towards the closed drapes of the only exit in the tent, pushing right through it. < This way, if you would, please. >

Hesitantly, as each student made their way towards the door, they would find instead of the old fabric of the tent a more familiar environment. The entrance lead to the inside of a classical haunted house, complete with old floorboards, rusty chandeliers, broken mirrors, and even ragged curtains. Despite the look and feel of the place, there was something a little off about the environment, how the candles on the table flickered but did not emit fire, how the roaring and howling of the wind seemed to come from a speaker in the center of the room and not actually outside. Even the wooden floorboards betrayed that they were actually composed of a hard plastic: and upon inspection, so were the mirrors, the doorway, all the decorations.

Everything was entirely artificial.

< This place was created by the very things that create Fear: humans. Many of you probably have the misconception that humans are dangerous creatures, but almost all humans cannot actually see us! Now, how many of you students know how to correctly scare a human? >

The loud banging, rattling, and footsteps seemingly right outside the room was in the least, distracting. Some of the more sensitive students could vaguely smell them, hear them, feel their presence, their emotions. There were humans right outside this room.

King was late, but that was okay. He had arrived in the nick of time to see the 'guest speaker'. A small demon perhaps? A monster of sorts? King shrugged. It was not his place to ask. But when he heard in his mind that it was to be in the human world- King was at full attention. Following the guest speaking King didn't hesitate to jump down the rabbit hole. Granted, his ears pinned back with a whine as the noise assaulted his hearing.
Following further he sniffed at the air before scowling. Is this the human world? It was... slightly gross. Humans, fear or not, he wanted the scent he was used to to. Even if the raw fear would be... delicious.

Shehk had been...on the tail end of things happening, catching the questions presented, but not really having much to pipe up about at that time. It was an excellent opportunity to pipe up, but...she hadn't really said much in time before the professor - a strange looking creature, like a familiar or something - continued on with his discussion.

They were going to talk about humans. Shehk had to stifle a small gut-reaction growl at the thought of it. This was only intensified when they stepped through the tent and out into a very..sterile smelling environment. Her nose crinkled a bit as she smelled. It smelled delicious in there.

Delicious and nearly nonintoxicating so. Human. She knew that scent and she had to work to keep herself from getting into a tizzy at the idea of it. She wanted it. It smelled delicious. Dammit, she needed to handle this craving better!

"Correctly? What would you define as correctly scaring a human? The kind that gets the more FEAR from them?"

--

Tomoko seemed uncertain about the trip, holding her ball of stars close to her chest as she followed the group along. The inside of the artificial haunted house bothered her on some level, and when the Professor mentioned humans being unable to see them she actually seemed surprised by this.

"Ooooouuuuu....why can they not see us?" she asked, more concerned about that then the idea that maybe, just maybe, she was going to get to see a real human become frightened.

That would be so exciting to see.

--

Sura lingered, but didn't contribute much to the conversation, simply frowning as the exchanges took place. This place was claustrophobic. She didn't like it in the least. Why had she come into the building of low ceilings and fake dressage??

Whyyyy?

"Most impressive, we say," Ash murmurs quietly to Thackery from beside him, eyes focused. There were dark circles underneath them, showing his exhaustion with flying colors. There was a strange little patch of grey on his lower neck, but his oxford collar hid...well.

Some of it. His helm cast a large enough shadow that it mostly went obscured, but out of paranoia, the reaper kept a large hand clasped to it at all times. Even as they mobilized, marching through the class and down into some strange...hole, Ash's palm hid the one place that could expose THEM.

They would not appreciate this, they do notwantthisheshouldjustgohomeheisn'twantedthere

Thackery slipped his hand into Ash's own, and the crashing waves were, for a moment, not as loud.

He wanted to speak up as the guest professor lectured, but...Ash, unfortunately, didn't have many ideas. In his state, Ash was more terrified of his mind than anything else-- that is, when he was self aware enough for such a thing.

So the reaper held Thackery's hand as they stood in the fake-room in the 'real' world-- a strange sensation. He needed an anchor.

Astra was still trying to pick up on rumors when the 'guest speaker' had arrived. The fairy did a double take. Didn't she have a minipet that looked exactly like it? And then it spoke into her mind! She wondered briefly if the thing was somehow related to Riley when it directed the class to follow. She flew after the professor, pausing at the hole before jumping into it.

Once inside the hole, she spent the next few minutes looking around the small room they were in. This place was very different to the haunted house they were in, and she couldn't see the sky either. But upon following the class again into the next room, she almost scoffed. It was clearly supposed to be a scary room, but even she could have done a better job!

This time she heard the professors question to the class, and she thought for a moment before putting up her hand to answer. "Umm, you gotta jump out at them and take them by surprise?"

Hel looked between Emily and Israfel with a blank look.

Dresses and Protection Charms.

Two subjects she certainly did not want to dabble in.

“…A..ah well…” She patted Emily’s shoulder. “I hope to see you outside of the closet more, alright?” Maybe she wasn’t entirely convinced about her reasoning…but she wasn’t going to push it right now. “Maybe we could go do something together, sometime?” She offered up, smiling before giving a nod to Israfel. “Ah, yes…let us follow after the professor.”

That being said, Hel picked up the pace after her fellow students, taking in her surroundings now gladly to stop thinking about dresses and protection charms, and started to focus on the professor’s words as well. Another Haunted House…Hmm. Hel had mixed feelings, a frown tugging at her lips as she entered and looked around, taking in the surroundings. She couldn’t help but fidget and shift her weight from foot to foot at the noises surrounding them.

Scaring humans? Eh…Hel really didn’t have…an honest idea, seeing as she was a reaper, and that her ancestors use to guide souls from one realm to the next.

Like many of the other students, Edel had heard whispers in the hallway about a certain professor QB, and was very much interested to learn what he had to teach. She did however, remember the most peculiar experience she had with his open class and it was safe to say that she was rather surprised to find that he had turned out to be the strange little creature that appeared to Roch, Muka and her just a day or two ago. Which meant that she should have braced herself for the creepy environment and the series of strange, cryptic things Professor QB would say.

The correct way to scare a human? she pondered whilst taking time to observe her artificial surroundings. Not kill them, to begin with. Perhaps it was to plant a single thought in them, something that would continue to haunt them and grow. They couldn't see the creatures of Halloween but they were still afraid – why?

... Well, she didn't know the answer.

"Well... I don't think I'm aimed for scarin' them, so to say," Roch said after a moment. "I'm a grim reaper. I sort of figure I'm supposed to be there when or after they die, right? The hunters said they only die once, so it makes sense. But if they can't SEE us, we should take advantage of that fact, right? Spooky sounds, things they can't explain, stuff like that?"

He was good at pranks that didn't require him to be in the room!

Jericho nervously followed the rest of the group while looking around at the haunted house setting. What was wrong with this place? Why was everything...fake? The feeling that this was some sort of trap was growing; even moreso when QB said there were humans right outside. Well... he had run ins with regular humans before a year ago. They couldn't see, hear, or feel any of them. The regular humans weren't what he was worried about. What if there were hunters out there too?!

"Wanna go home.. wanna go home.. wanna go home..." he whimpered quietly before staring at the white creature. He.. didn't know the answer to that. His attempts last year when a bunch of them accidentally ended up in the human world all failed to garner any sort of reaction from the humans.

Quietly, Shun took in his surroundings while listening to the Professor explain things about Fear and humans. As with Roch, scaring people wasn't really a goal of his as he was to gather fear in a different way than most others. Though, if a grim wanted to, they could probably work in the traditional way too if they knew what to do.

Thinking about the question, he looked around the room some more. Perhaps there was a clue within their location.

"Perhaps... one way is also to take advantage of the environment.." he murmured quietly before recalling something Malcom had said some time ago, "And possibly channel our FEAR along with."

Zar followed the professor with tenative curiosity, tail twitching behind him, at first he thought they might have been inside the haunted house they had ended up outside that horrible night they'd run into the scarelings, but rapidly it became apparent this couldn't be the case, this whole place apparead to be farce, a false imitation of a scary place.

Humans made this? He was of the very misconception the professor insisted was untrue, he wasn't sure what to think about its honesty.

And besides, it was surprisingly hard to concentrate he found, he wasn't sure what it was that was making him restless, making him constantly glance over to one side of the room, sure he could feel an unfamiliar tangle of emotions. Normally he kept a fairly firm lid on his desire for emotions around amityville, so he was startled that even that usual restraint was being coaxed by the intensity of the emotions that raged outside.

He tried to focus, but didn't speak up this time. To be frank he wasn't sure at all how to scare a human.

Malodore was skeptical of the tent at first - it reminded the plague doctor of nothing so much as the 'classroom' that Professor Savage had set up during Floresctival. Still, as they were led outside, its doubts began to wane...

The surroundings were bizarre. Familiar but off. Cheap. Malodore shifted its weight for a moment, bouncing up and down on its hooves and feeling the weird, non-wood sound of the floor beneath it. It even padded cautiously up to a candle and tapped at the false flame encased in glass. It was kind of disgusting, actually. Such a bad imitation.

When Professor Q.B. mentioned not being visible to humans, Malodore nodded, remembering the first time they had accidentally ended up in the Human World, after finding that first pendant so long ago. They had not been visible, audible, or able even to touch things to any real extent. "Ah, perhaps... if we cannot be seen, or heard, or manipulate the environment very much... instead, we use our FEAR on them?" it said slowly, raising its hand.

...........

Anna, meanwhile, was a full believer from the moment they'd entered. The witchling, Shibey cradled in her arms, listened with a mixture of fascination and vague terror. Were they allowed to be here? Were they all going to get in trouble like happened last time?

The Human World was both amazing and strangely... lackluster. The false interior was just plain confusing! Why make a pretend version of something real? She tapped at the speaker with one gloved hand, then experimentally leaned down and puffed breath back at it. Nope. Still no actual wind.

Some of the noises sounded oddly familiar to Yin but he shrugged it off, listening to the babble around them until the professor spoke again. Fear...well yes they were made of Fear. They had to follow the professor out of the room now, and wound up in a another room, that was somewhat more comfortable with its broken mirrors and somewhat creepy vibe. Alexander was acting a bit...out of sorts, and he stayed close to him to make sure that the zomboil did not stumble again, or that if he did he would once again be within reach. He noted with interest the candles that did not seem to have real flame to them, wondering if Alexander would approve of them, or if they gave off heat.

Humans. Humans created Fear. And most humans could not see them? Now that was interesting. He was distracted by the professor though by the smells and sounds wafting toward him. His stomach grumbled, though he could not pinpoint what the smell was. It smelled delicious. "You did a good job scaring the human during class," he mused quietly as he tried not to think about how poorly he had done. If it was a strictly physical scaring he could change into his natural form, which was probably scarier, but there were so many individuals about that it would be impossibly rude.
