"Dog? Really? I know Fix isn't one for hunting," Rouge finally spoke her thoughts as their erstwhile companion bounded away, introduction floating back towards them on the wind, "but how very Fix it is to keep an otter as a pet - and call it 'Dog'! They're nothing like dogs, they're perfect swamp-prey - why, I've killed a million of those since I've gotten here, like I did back in the desert with f-" she cut that particular thought off mid-word, suddenly recalling the fluffy fennec curled around its owner. 'Hm!" she changed the subject abruptly instead, picking up Fox's last statement, "you've been having those dreams too? Blood on snow and all that? I've been quite enjoying them, really!"

Sunlit Journey looked over at his overly happy and perky sister Little Lies. "Hello there sister." Sun and his sister Little became attached to each other at a young age and she became the only one he ever felt close to. "What brings you out here to the icy cold of the northern hills?" He knew that most kin would probably be here out of some desire to make a trek across the frozen land, but Little Lies was never one to dream of going on a grand adventure.

"The hopes for a story, of course," she grinned. The cold evaporated at the warmth of seeing her brother. She had always adored him; the muse often suggested because they were such a direct contrast to each other. Although she loved all of her family -- that she knew -- he was her favorite. The cheerfulness she exuded was often an annoyance that her grandmother tolerated while it was utterly lost altogether on her father; Sunlight Journey was the perfect medium. "And did you see, brother? I have my own eaglehound now! A pup from grandmother's own! Isn't it lovely?" she asked as she nudged the hound towards the red buck to be viewed. The hound whined in discouragement though the doe paid it no mind. It would have to learn to be friendly, at the very least towards her family. She had barely allowed him to give the dog any attention before she was speaking once more. "What brings you out here, brother?"

And because dreams are slippery, Albatross soon forgot about her big bird dream. It helped that Forgotten Feathers fell though with innate grace. Albatross and her tail moved in to swipe the snow off of the other doe's back, but paused for a spell. An assessing glance within a blink of an eye spoke of truths of the heart. Instead, Albatross packed the snow harder onto the white doe between the spines. "Stay put" she said with much soft determination and a mischievous light in her eyes. Crouching slightly but ever so more determined, Albatross' tail swooped up more snow. Pat, swoop, and continue. Finally happy with her art, she moved back to stare at the bigger picture. "Stay that way one more moment." She moved to nearby skeleton trees and grabbed a low hanging branch. Leaning against the trunk, teeth delicate all determined but precise, she cracked the stick in half with a thrusting kick. Maneuvering the fallen stick between her mouth with its kin, she returned with a flourish. She had big plans for her bird friend. Though the four footed kimeti fancied herself of the sky, the kin was missing something crucial. She circled the white doe and stuck the sticks askance on each side.
"Now you have wings." She nodded for emphasis.

Sun gave a short cheerful look to Little before shivering again. "Of course." Sunlit Journey rather admired his sister's ability for storytelling."So what's the focus of this story?" When she mentioned the eaglehound, Sun took a moment to look it over, it had a nice mesh white with some black. As she asked about his reasons for coming out to this snowy hillside, he turned his attention away from her hound, "You know, I've just been having this urge to make an adventure around these parts and it happened to get the better of me."

Watch Me looked a tad disappointed by Fix leaving, but he still had the other two Acha to keep him amused and so barely gave the male another thought after the initial nod of goodbye. Watch Me grinned, ears perked forward. He liked to listen to Acha speak. They were so expressive and their conversations were never mundane. Oh, the dreams. The Kiokote’s smile never dropped; his unease at the mention of the dreams easily masked. He did not find them at all pleasing. Blood was sticky and nasty, and dreaming of the cold made waking in the frozen night disconcerting. Sometimes he could hardly tell if he was still dreaming or not. He jumped on Fox’s last sentence, hoping to chance the subject once more. “I am sure the desert was much nicer than the plains or the swamp. You should tell me more of it. I must say, the thought of such a warm place is certainly appealing.”

"A gathering at the north, of course," it was really rather obvious, "but it could change. One never knows what will happen, you know!" And the muse was such a thing of fancy and whimsy. All the exuberance seemed to fade, the pink doe was so firmly fascinated in his words. Thoughtfully, she placed all the word into her mind to examine later. Once she was quite sure it would be remembered, the calm seem to slide from her like melting snow. "Everyone seems to be feeling a pull or having dreams that prompted to come here," she nodded, "though no one has a clue why..."

White looked to the doe. She seemed not a bit bothered by two males being close. Being a tad cocky, or maybe it was something he had the night before, he inched a bit closer. "Yes, I do enjoy moving from one to the other, rather fast. Though mainly to chase this one around." Shifts his shoulders to get the dragonfly to move, causing him to touch Salt. Now if it was an accident or not, well it is hard to say. White River does do things like that, to gauge reactions to his touching them.
"And in the rush of things, I do believe I forgot to give my name. White River it is and a pleasure to be in your company right now." The vine buck gave a small bow as he watched orange stag.

Wood Spider blinks at Meets-the-Sea for a moment, impressed by the doe's train of thought-- and then must shrug, as her smile broadens. "Well, I'm not exactly sure -- I dreamed of the cold and of snow, so I came up this way, but I can't speak for Longstride. He seemed content to hare off into the unknown just after the Swamp spoke to him," meaning his ascension, "but Swamp knows where he's gone. Perhaps we'll see him."
After a moment her ears flick forward, and she shakes her hair out of her face -- nosing forward, she touches Meets' side as gently as a newborn foxbun: "--oh! You're expecting again?" Her voice is soft, and she blinks up at Meets for approval, "And you've come all this way!"

Beetleshell considers the acha for a moment and then nods, once; for the first time her somewhat serious expression lights up into something interested and appreciative. Fix is rapidly breaking down all the walls of awkwardness around Beetleshell. "Yes, and very loyal. He follows me around." A moment after, she adds, "Scares many kimeti away. Nearly as big as you! Could carry you off." And then, somewhat terrifyingly, she smiles -- but adds, "I have small insects, too -- beetles, and a slug. Slug would freeze solid."

Jackdaw nodded at his brother in a somewhat bored way. "Hello Murkcrow. Are the ladies driving you mad again?" He asked with a slightly sarcastic smile on his face, enjoying how their sisters always seemed to get to Crow. "We could go elsewhere if you'd like, away from them."

"So just the gathering here in the north. Your not here with anyone this time?" Sunlit Journey enjoyed it when she told stories centered around a single buck or doe. She would always put so much detail into their character. Sun's sister began talking about everyone's reason for making their way to the north. He took a moment to wonder about it himself, "It very well may be the Swamp convincing us to come here."

"Only my eaglehound and now you! Grandmother is here somewhere, she was speaking to two Legendaries," the pride of that statement made her voice squeak. Once the excitement seeps down from her bright eyes to float in her chest, she smiled. "And are you here with anyone besides me?" It was the sisterly teasing she knew he would not take offense to, not from her, but there was a tinge of hope coloring her words. She would very much like for her brother to have a friend. Even a pet would be good for him. She would have to keep her eyes open for that. The brief moment of silence was broken and she nodded her head in agreement. She would never speak it but she believed almost all things were influenced by the Swamp, by the Motherfather. "You are wise, brother, and quite right I think," she paused, head craning to look around at all the kin, "and so many seemed to have listened!"

"Salt," returns the doe, "and it's... well. You know. Hello."
-*-
Fix chooses to focus on the positive, as is his wont, and not on the fact that a giant wasp could swoop down and make off with him for dinner.
"Slugs!" he cries. "Do you know they're my favourite thing about the Swamp so far I think (besides you I mean), I haven't seen ANY where I came from, and they are so... great! They're all frilly and slow and sometimes I wish I could just be like a slug all day and eat and sleep and go all slow from place to place, no hurry at all. I hope your slug doesn't freeze solid, I'd like to meet it one day. Maybe it could teach me to be like a slug."
For all his claims that he'd like to live the life of a slug, he fairly dances as he speaks, feet uneasy and never idle, head tossing to punctuate his enthusiasm.

Any large gathering of Kimeti was always a delight for Once Forgotten. It was another chance to badger his cousin’s with questions about his parentage. So far the search had led him in nothing but circles. But at least he had picked up a companion along the way. So far Once Forgotten has tackled this harsh winter with the same determination he did everything else, though it had helped to have a snuggle buddie for those cold, nightmare-riddled nights… even if she was grumpy in the morning. He would not admit it out loud, but with each day he grew to care less about his own quest. And yet he continued on despite the growing belief he would never locate his father. Mostly because of Cue Queue. No, that was a lie; it was completely because of Cue Queue. If he stopped the search, there would be no reason for her to stay with him any longer. The Kiokote paused at the edge of the gathered Kimeti, scanning the crowd for a hint of glow… and there! He looked back at his companion, giving a pleased stamp of a hoof. “Let’s go take a look.”

The ground Forgotten Feathers was forced onto was much colder than the ground she was used to falling onto and oh filly, did she fall a lot. Never had she fallen onto such a cold ground before though and the temperature wasted no time seeping into her hide. It made her quite anxious to get up but when she heard Albatross' voice call to her and tell her to stay put, that's just what the doe did. However, she hadn't expected to be buried alive! What was Albatross doing? Oh, oh! It was cold! The cold had tricked her and was not around her on all side, cornering her like its prey.
There was a definite whine coming from the doe at this point, not entirely sure what was going on. Luckily, she didn't have to wonder very long because shortly after, Albatross spoke again and it caught the doe's attention. She what? She what? She whaaaaaaat? She had wings? No way, no way, no way! The expression on the doe shifted immediately and at first it was hard to decipher exactly what the expression was expressing but then it hit the world like a meteor from the sky: bliss, pure bliss.
She could see them vaguely, popping out from her back. How was this even possible? Oh, who cares! The doe didn't even bother to question it. She wasted no time with that and soon she found her way up out of the ground, spinning around to show the world her new glorious pride. No longer would she flap around like a wingless bird. She could be graceful and glide around the world. She was complete! She'd never felt so happy before, she was absolutely beaming with delight.
"Oh Albatross! Oh Albatross! This is... this is..." She would have called it a dream but her dream was no where near as wondrous as this, no, in fact... her dreams were so lonely and empty. Her dreams were where she was forgotten. What was this? It was no a dream and it didn't seem anything light of a fantasy. Delightdelightdelight! "This is nothing less than indescribable!" Well, it was honest.
"How do I look? How do I look?" She was absolutely fluttering, at least in the most figurative manner.
