Pity she wasn't in her off-duty mode, she would probably have suggested Dylan go see Em for a kiss to make it better. Or offer one herself. Yes, even with Jamisson right there. The grouch should know better than to be upset or take the gesture seriously.

Gear who had been snickering in the background waved to the departing runic hunters. With a cheerful farewell that wasn't directed to anyone in familiar, it seemed that the moon hunter was always shouting in one way or another. He approached Andy. Having witnessed the really hilarious show, the camera shot being one of their only mementos, Gear would have preferred a funny shot to a serious and posing one. Probably. It wasn't him that got their picture of chest versus face~

"Next time, you should try that on a guy. We welcome those advances with a warmer reception. Although, it looks like it wasn't too cold-- I hope she's safe too." Pointing to himself, he tipped his fedora hat a little lower with his other hand.

Evidently, he had at least heard Titania's words.

"I dont think I caught your name, mines is Gear. I figure, introductions are better before another monster pops out and ruins it, you know?"

Gear didn't mind her burst of laughter, her's infecting his to give off a few chuckles too. He followed her gaze around, although not quite sure who or what she was looking for, but Gear was a guy of imitation nevertheless.

He took Andy's hand warmly, fingers lingering just a tiny bit longer than they should have. "Well, Andy, any advice given will insult both of us. So I'm just gonna say, let's have a good time and see each other afterwards. Even once is ok-- If I live, you should really go on a date with me. I promise, Ill be a good date."

He winked at Andy, clicking his tongue. It was hard to tell whether he was serious or not with his easy bantering tone but what guy kidded about a date?

Especially since there were likely headed to different posts on the opposite sides of the world after! Gear was a winter guy himself.

Well, as it turned out, Em had really almost killed him through asphyxiation and unfortunately he had needed a few minutes longer to recover. Caelius managed to join the portal defense team just in time for another creature to pop out from the portal, which was slightly less distressing than Hat Guy making moves on Andy. The portal creature looked better, for one.

"I hope I am not interferring," the Sun Hunter gave Andy and Gear a pleasant sort of smile before pulling out both his barrier daggers, dropping one as close to the Fear intruder as he could, "Not that I needed help or anything. Really."

Was he kind of sore that they had just left him there post photoshoot? Maybe just a small bit.

Gear hadn't just shaken her hand, he'd held it, and then he asked her out. Andy laughed nervously, preparing to say no really I don't think so hahahaha when Caelius barged in on them, and she instinctively pulled her hand away from Gear's, blushing.

"Yes you were," she retorted, sneaking Gear an apologetic glance, before deciding to make the best of the situation. "Sure we can go out on a date after this mission," It was at Caelius she glared as she spoke, though, as if to say 'see, someone likes me.'

All of a sudden another monster burst through the portal, and Andy was more surprised by how quickly Caelius reacted. Not intending to be outdone, Andy pulled out her own runic butterfly knife, flicking it open and moving towards the monster. Almost recklessly- perhaps because Caelius was around and she felt like she needed to show off, or because she didn't feel like she needed to worry while he was around- she went straight for the monster's glowing red eyes, and stabbed one of them.

Look, Caelius, who's better than you?

Lee gave a near silent sigh of irritation when another creature came through the portal before she could even contemplate ducking by the first aid tent, this was already shaping up to be an interesting one. Lashing out with the butt of her trapping gun she felt rather satisfied by the firm thwack it produced, there was nothing better for anger management than portal duty.

As she was ducking out of the way of anthers attack she managed to overhear the chatting of two as they fought, giving them both a raised eyebrow that could roughly be translated as 'if you have air to chat, fight more.'

'be safe man,' his own voice echoed back to him, followed closely by the sound of his palm hitting adam's shoulder gently, 'don't let isaac lose my hat...'

Cliff pushed his way through the swarm of hunters where he'd been shoved in the dispute, muttering a few 'excuse me' and 'pardon me's that southern drawl that marked him as 'that one annoying guy with the hat.' Except now he was 'that one annoying guy who used to have a hat,' since he'd he'd given it to Isaac as a promise that he come back.

'hey.'

this wasn't a time for any lengthy goodbyes. they'd had that time. they'd had their fight, their hug, their picture and their tears, and now it was time to be strong. it was time to smile in the face of danger and pretend that nothing, not halloween, not the horsemen, not the devil himself could take them down.

'if you die, i'll kill you,' he grinned, lifting his thumb and forefinger to mimic a gun, pointing it at isaac.

'bang.'

"Zoey!"

From across the street, he could see his friend in the medic tent, seemingly getting patched up from the previous battle. He hadn't even gotten a chance to get close to the thing -- so far, the swarm of a hundred and fifty hunters was doing a pretty good job of keeping whatever was coming out, well... out. Coming up behind the girl, Cliff placed a hand on her shoulder, watching as she got patched up.

"Are you ok?"

despite how cold it was outside, the kiss was warm. em had been keeping them warm, he guessed -- she wouldn't have to worry about willing participants. his arms wrapped around her back as she leaned up to press her lips against his cheek, smiling a little and giving her a gentle hug before she had pulled away, moving towards the portal. when she whooped, however, he couldn't help but laugh despite the somber mood, cupping his hand to his mouth to call after her.

'hey, stop stealing my lines!'

he hoped the one keeping her lips warm had been the one she loved.

The sound of the portal spitting something else out drew his attention, away from the medic tent. The swirling blue energy pulsed, looking just a little darker before a black, clawed hand lashed out towards them, a redheaded creature suddenly lurching out of the darkness towards them. Already, hunters were starting to group around it, working to try to contain it -- none of the ones he knew, though. Pushing through the crowd again, Cliff's hand moved to the cattle prod at his waist, lashing out with it to try to attack the creature.

"Lucas!" he called over his shoulder, looking for some backup.

(SORRY, my posts are gonna suck for a while, my brain is like PFFFFT. Just pretend Cliff is on drugs or something, idek.)

Jess hadn't had a chance to recover from the last creature dying before yet another appeared in the portal. She could /swear/ these things just got uglier and uglier every time. She didn't even have time to vaguely aim this time. Turning her gun around to crack the butt across the creatures face. Ohho, did that hurt more? Yes. It might just have.

"I'm getting too old for thisss." She hissed at no one in particular as she flinched again at the recoil.

She took a few heavy breaths before raising her weapon up again. Shifting it slightly in her grip, looking to all intents and purposes like a baseball player ready and raring to hit a home run.
