Hel was still wracking her brain, when a sound invaded her thoughts.

Mot humming.

This caught her attention immediately, as the reaper found it uncommon for Mot to hum or sing. Hel turned her gaze away from the window to stare at the boil across from her, the sudden serious atmosphere just seeming to melt away as she focused on the sound of his voice. Oh…hey…she knew this tune! It was like a siren call, music. Hel couldn’t resist responding, and instead of humming, she wanted to sing, so she did:

Oh Lover, hold on
'till I come back again
For these arms are growing tired,
And my tales are wearing thin

If you're patient I will surprise,
When you wake up I’ll have come

All the anger will settle down
And we'll go do all the things we should have done

Yes I remember what we said
As we lay down to bed
I'll be here if you will only come back home
~”

To Mot's surprise, Hel knew the song he was humming. His gaze moved from the window to Hel, watching as she began to sing. And straight away, the thick atmosphere began to dissipate. Rather than feel sleepy like he normally would when hearing Hel sing, she seemed to clear away the fog he'd been under.

Mot wanted to sing with her.

His gaze fell back to the window, pausing just after Hel had finished singing her piece. He then joined in.

"Oh lover, i'm lost
Because the road i've chosen beckens me away

Oh lover, don't you roam
Now i'm fighting words I never thought i'd say

But I remember what we said
As we lay down to bed
I'll forgive you oh
If you just come back home
"

She couldn’t say that he was singing for her exactly, but he was singing with her, and that sent the moths in her stomach all aflutter once more. She liked his voice…but it was very enchanting to hear him sing. She greatly cherished the memory of him singing to her over the phone, and she’d greatly cherish this as well.

Hel was smiling widely as he sang his part, leaning her head against the window as she watched him. Once his part came to an end, she hummed more of the song, happy to know that the next part would be sung together:

Hmmm mmmm
Hmmmm mmmm

Oh lover, I'm old
You'll be out there and be thinking just of me

And I will find you down the road
And will return back home to where we're meant to be

'cause I remember what we said
As we lay down to bed
We'll be back soon as we make history
~”

Mot got moths in his stomach, anticipating the moment they would be singing in unison the last phase of the song. When that moment came, he sang along with her.

"Oh lover, I'm old
You'll be out there and be thinking just of me

And I will find you down the road
And will return back home to where we're meant to be

'cause I remember what we said
As we lay down to bed
We'll be back soon as we make history~
"

Mot's eyes left the window, returning to Hel. He smiled shyly, rubbing his neck. "Well, that was fun." He'd really enjoyed that.

Maybe she was biased…but she thought they sounded wonderful when they sang together.

Totally not biased.

Hel finished out the song with him, grinning widely at him now as she also gave a firm nod of her head. “It was!” She agreed. “I think we should do that more often!” Way more often. “I wasn’t patronizing when I said I thought you did a marvelous job when you sang to me that one day over the phone!” The reaper then turned her head to glance out the window again, ignoring the pitter pattering that was happening in her chest. So unfair. So unfair. At least the atmosphere felt lighter between them now…and for that she was happy.

"We should!" Mot answered excitedly. He'd loved that moment when their voices were entwined in song. It was almost magical, though he felt like her own voice was so high above his own. But she was a Valkyrie. It came natural.

The phone? Oh.. he had forgotten about that day. The reaper turned a bit red remembering that, rubbing his neck in a display of bashfulness. "Oh.. thank you." That had been such an embarrassing phone call.

Heh.” Hel chuckled as Mot seemed to go shy, and tilted her back against the window to look out of it. “You’re becoming rather modest now, friend.” The reaper teased. “How unlike you. You should be proud, you have a…very wonderful voice.”

The valkyrie fell silent for a long moment once more, though at least this time it wasn’t out of an oppressive mood that lingered over them. “…It’s good to see you again.” Hel announced, still staring out the window. “I know it was only a few weeks but…it’s just really good to see you again.” She only paused for a moment before immediately launching into a new subject. “Ah, yes!” She looked towards the cowboil now, leaning forward in her chair. “When we return, I have many different recipes to try and cook for you, now! I appreciate that you like my stew and such, but I think it would be good for you to have a selection of food as opposed to only one thing…that way you don’t get bored!”

Mot managed a chuckle, still feeling rather tickled that Hel had complimented him. His singing was wonderful, was it? The reaper grinned, his eyes glinting with a bit of pride. A compliment from Hel felt well earned.

Mot nodded, watching Hel as she looked out the window. "Me too. I really did miss your company. Not having you across the hall, and all. I'll feel better when things are normal again." Normality was time spent at school.

Mot watched the ghoul curiously as she leaned forward, smirking a bit as she explained her plans to expand his food pallet. "Aah, if you must. Though.." Mot tilted his head. "I don't feel as sick as I used to around food lately. I feel you might be the reason why."

If Mot felt tickled, Hel did as well. Missed her company, huh? The reaper grinned. “Feel better, eh? Were you not feeling so well at home?”

The ghoul rubbed her hands together and gave a firm nod of her head. “Ah, yes! I must! Truly, Mot, I feel that eating the same thing over and over will wear on you eventually.” Where as before she was feeling tickled, Hel just felt downright touched now. She blinked, the grin slipping from her face as she took a moment to let that statement sink in. Was…she really affecting his eating patterns so? The grin returned now, brighter than it had been before. The valkyrie looked awfully proud. Even prouder than when she had passed her Year Two examination.

Hel was just beaming, and for a moment looked like she was at a loss about what to say. “…Heh! I’ll have to make sure to make a whole bunch of dishes! Oh! Very small portions of course, but it will be different things for you to taste test!” The valkyrie’s bottom wiggle in her seat in excitement at the thought. She’d have to plan a day for this once they returned…hmmm…before or after their battle…maybe after (if Mot still liked her company depending on the winner).

"Home doesn't feel... homely." He answered simply, shrugging it off. "Amity is home. That's where my friends are."

From the sounds of it Hel was planning a buffet. It was endearing to see her get so passionate about cooking. He was only a little worried that he would be the taste tester. But, it was all meant for him. She did it for him. He chuckled that she made sure he knew it would be small portions, grinning bemusedly. "It's a date. Er, party." Mot laughed.

The reaper nodded her head in agreement. While yes, she enjoyed seeing her family again…she had been terribly itching to return back the Academy…where she felt the most in place, comfortable…despite the dangers and troubles they were facing. Did her friends play into a large part of it? Possibly, maybe not as much as it did for Mot at this point in time.

Hel seemed a bit disappointed when Mot corrected his statement from date to party, giving a short chuckle. “Heh…as much as a one being cooking and one being tasting can party, friend.” The ghoul glanced out the window for a moment, and then for the rest of the train trip was content to chat at him about little things until they reached their station.

They were home.
