Indeed there was something ahead of the small group on the trail, and even a few more steps forward would produce the stream S'kiro and his fellows had heard before, now that the sound of the strange creature passing had drifted away on the fog it was clear just how close they had come to stumbling straight into the stream..furthermore a deep gouge on the far side of the stream - the obvious trail of the beast - was spotted by these first riders and weyrfolk to the scene.
((If your rider chooses to answer the call and head down the path to the stream in your next post or your already at the stream to begin with you may roll a d100 for the next clue..if you stay at the forks and ignore the call then your out of luck for this round! ))

M'lan was glad that the older rider had showed up with his bronze, while he didn't think it was likely Asoth was going to cause anymore trouble tonight he hoped he could call on the rider's Bronze to outrank Asoth and pull him back from anything stupid. As the fog drifted away he realised how close Asoth had been to stumbling head first into the stream, a fresh drag mark on the other bank made him glad he'd not let Asoth go on ahead on his own. They might need the bronze after all, even the smallest bronze in the weyr was pretty sharding big if something out there tried to hurt one of the young dragons or the humans in the group.

Relys encouraged Relysk down the path then followed after him. Nald cheeped in his ear. He grinned. "You'll get a good bath and oiling after this." They made such a good team. When he caught up, Relys was surprised by how close the stream was. "I thought we'd of heard that sooner." He asked the blue to check for scent again.

"Mine, look. That water was right there! You could of been lost. Oh, the wher is joining us!" Neptanth stated bluntly to S'kiro. The blue had no problems with whers, since they had to help protect the people too. He moved out of the way so that Relys and Relysk could get closer to look. "Do you think he can get a scent from the water?"
S'kiro shrugged his shoulders. "I am not sure, my dear. They do have better noses than canines, so maybe." The young man was hoping that the wher could. It would make tracking a lot better, but if not... This thing was leaving large tracks so it wasn't that hard to follow.

Allaxon looked around and noticed that one of the boys and his blue were gone. He looked closer and saw that they had gone down one of the forks. He liked their decision making and walked stiffly down the path to join them. He was feeling a little more jumpy now. "Hey guys." He greeted the others as he arrived at the stream.

The gold stilled as she heard Asoth's call, her head lowering to stop Hers from walking any further. Listening for a moment, Cepheith tilted her head just enough so her eye met Narisa's. Asoth calls. I am not sure what it is, but I think we should go that way. And we did promise Neptanth and His that we'd join them if they saw something else. Not to mention the young queen was worried about her clutchmates. She'd been extremely glad when Asoth had agreed to join Neptanth. But if anything were to happen to them, and she'd not tried to keep them all together...
Sensing a small bit of unease in Cepheith, Narisa scratched along her headknobs. Her gaze was towards the direction the other two had gone. "Alright. You are right. And I don't like leaving them alone either." Besides, both the wherhandler and his wher plus Pipith and Set'al had started in that direction.
"We're going to join them and answer Asoth's call." She informed anyone left as she and her bonded quickly changed course, sticking close to the larger bronze dragon. The soft sound of the stream didn't reach Narisa's ears until they were right there with the group. Cepheith moved a little closer to Neptanth and Asoth, getting a good look at the water. From the amount she could see, it looked like harmless water...though no telling how deep it was. And upon closer expection...was that a gouge over there? The gold pawed at the ground lightly, seeing how soft or hard it was. Not easy to make such a gouge as that then.
Pipith? Can you see anything more? Cepheith asked as she backed away from the stream to stand next to hers once again. The bronze may have been considered small, but he was still the biggest out of all those present.

Not from here. Hmm. Pipith peered across the stream, rumbling unhappily to himself about the fog. He wanted to see something - needed to see something! The little Queen wanted him to! What was he standing over here for, trying to see to the other side? It was only a stream, and he was a full-grown dragon! (Some might have disputed that, however.)
The bronze trundled across the water to see what he could see, if anything.

As the group rejoined one another and debated what to do next Asoth and his were peering over at the drag marks on the other side of the stream...and was it their imagination or did they see a second gouge mark not to far after the first..as though the creature had been prodding around and looking for something in the muck on the far side.
Thankfully the stream was not a deep one and even had little Asoth fallen in earlier he likely would have been fine - a fact proven when the water barely soaked the pads of Pipith's large feet (at least compared to the youths in the group) when he waded through, further more his bulk seemed to stem the tide somewhat making fording even easier on the little ones should they decide to continue following the dig marks on the far bank. given that the creature they were following was now stopping to search for things it was likely they would make good time in catching up!
((Congrats to Revel for gaining the next point! If your character chooses to ford the stream and follow the path you may roll a d100, if you choose to stay on your side of the bank and search down one side of it instead you may still roll a d100))

Noting the dam-like effect he had on the water, Pipith decided to stay there - at least for a minute or two - in case the others wanted to cross. Here, it is not very deep, he said to the young dragons, And I will make it easier if you want to come to the other side. The latter he intended mostly for Cepheith, but he would stay there for the others too.
Rolling his eyes at his dragon, Set'al sloshed through. Really, though, the little bronze was being rather good. Maybe they should spend more time around Weyrlings...

Asoth puffed out his chest "Look look! over there! a second mark! I found it.... LOOK!" hummed Asoth, while still subdued from the earlier scare, he was rather excited to have been the one to spot the signs of some sort of digging around. He watched as Pipith waded in, he nudged His and they both moved through the shallow water together, M'lan not impressed at all that he was wet and he hoped that they were going to find the creature soon so he could go and get changed into something dry. As he and Asoth passed Pipith both dragon and human thanked the bronze since it seemed the water was just that bit shallower after he entered the stream.

"Mine, Asoth found something on the other side. Also Pipith is waiting for the rest of us to cross." Without waiting for His, Neptanth made his way to the other side. He wanted to see what the marks really looked like.
S'kiro looked at what he was wearing, content that they had been near the lake earlier and he hadn't changed to better clothes. He followed after the happily swaying blue, pausing to say thanks to the bronze. The water was a bit cooler than he expected but he forced his ay through, rubbing his arms once on the other side.

Perhaps because of the height advantage Pipith had over the youth or perhaps because Set'al was just a keen eyed fellow the pair would almost certainly spot a meandering trail on the other side of the stream. Following the trail the group soon discovers that it seems to be looping back towards the Weyr again - and even odder whatever the creature was looking for it much have found as there is an obvious drag mark through the leaves and ground debris making the trail quite easy to follow.
Following the groove marks the group enters another bank of fog and some practically trip over a stray log in the pathway, the log has gouge marks in it and a shriek nearby seems to chastise the group for hurting the log!
((Congrats to Meepfur for gaining a point, Everyone roll a d100 - we're just going to assume you all followed the trail lol ))

Asoth pranced, trying to contain his excitement because it worried M'lan. He spotted what Pipith had moments after the Bronze. He walked along with M'lan as they all followed the trail. His tail waving from side to side gently, almost canine-like as they walked... until the shriek that came just as he was about to step on a log to get over it. Mine...that.....what was that?" M'lan shook his head "i don't know but maybe we had better let the adult dragon go first" he whispered to his brown. Snow and Zing trembled on their respective perches. They didn't like the bigscarynoise anymore than Asoth or M'lan had.
