"Aw, come on, honey, I didn't mean it like that," the horn player said quickly, backing up a few inches.
"Yeah," said one of the musicians who played the Deku Pipes. "Woodbine over there actually LIKES Kokiri, for some reason." At this, the rest of the band laughed, with the exception of the horn player.
"Behave yourselves, boys." He then turned to the Kokiri girl. "'Scuse me, honey, and I'm sorry 'bout the band. We were just havin' a little fun." Here he moved his hand and rustled the large, green leaves that made up his "hair". "But really, a couple o' ground-dwellin' cats like you, up here in the Deku digs? That don't look unusual to you?"

Izzy smiled when he saw Felin rush to defend him, even though he wasn't offended by the obnoxious-seeming Deku Scrubs. He finished pulling himself up and stood up on the wide branch.
"It may be unusual, but we're here under orders from the Great Deku Tree," he said to the horn player, or "Woodbine", as they called him, since he was the only one who seemed to have any manners.

"Yeah, we heard you guys had weapons up here?" she asked, tilting her head to one side and shifting her weight to her right side, while crossing her arms in a casual style. "He said something along the lines of we're meant to leave the forest, and said to climb up here to equip ourselves." she paused. "'Course I'm just summin' up."

"Weapons?" Woodbine asked, his tone distasteful. "Well, there ain't none here. You'll have to go further into town." Here he pointed to a long walkway made of wooden planks, that seemed to weave between branches and encircle the Old Tree at least two times.
"And just so you know," said the drummer, "us Deku don't have fancy pads with those 'door' things. We live in holes in the branches. But that don't mean you can just drop in like you own the place."
"Look, just follow the walkway," Woodbine cut in. "You'll eventually come to a hole with a sign next to it that says 'Fen's Forest Shop'. That's where you wanna go, if you want weapons." Once he finished, he grabbed his sax and started playing a fast-paced song, in which the rest of the band soon joined him.

Felin looked up the walkway, and further still as she tried to see all of the shops and houses as best she could. It looked a little intimidating, going up higher and higher, and she looked over the side briefly, seeing just how far they had come. "Wow." she said quietly. She couldn't move for a moment, a sudden fear of falling washing over her. She slipped once, she'd make sure not to do it again. "You guys heard of fences?" she said to the band members. "Come on Izzy." she said, waving for him to accompany her as she waved goodbye to the Deku, starting the long trek up. Or rather, continuing.
Akin wanted to stick back and chat with the Deku a while, but his purpose as guardian fairy to the girl compelled him to follow her.

He stayed behind for only a moment, listening to the wonderful music that the Deku band produced. He had never heard anything quite like it. But then he remembered that they were here for a reason, and it wasn't to be entertained. He jogged a bit until he caught up with Felin.
"Hey...Thanks for sticking up for me back there..... Even if you didn't really have to, but... Thanks."

"It was nothing really." Felin said, turning to Izzy with a smile. "I just thought they were picking on you." she looked around as they continued up the plank pathway. "They really need to put fences up here." she added, glancing over the edge again.

They all chuckled lightly at the idea of fences on their town's "road", but continued playing and didn't try making fun of the Kokiri again. Only Woodbine turned around and, with a kind bow, pronounced to the departing travelers, "Welcome to Deku Town, kids."

"Yeah, it is pretty darn dangerous, this high up," he agreed. "But I guess for them it's no problem. They must be used to living like this." After walking for a bit, he saw, out of the corner of his eye, a large wooden sign that read "Fen's Forest Findings". The sign was placed on one of the gargantuan branches, right next to a wide hole. He supposed that hole must lead to the shop.
"Well, the name is a bit different, but I'm pretty sure this is the place. Do you want me to check it out first?"

"That's thoughtful Izzy, but I thought it was 'ladies first'?" she said with a smirk, casually strolling in.
When stepping in, the first thing she noticed was a large flower on the floor she assumed was somehow connected to the store manager. Looking around, there were tons of weapons, from shortswords to longswords, slingshots to knives, to bows. Wow, seems there's something for everyone, she thought. She tried looking for something that might be suitable to her size, and scanning the shelves, found a couple bows, three swords, and practically every oddball item. Glancing over the more deadlier stuff, she tried picturing herself using the weapon. Akin decided to help too, flitting over to items that Felin was looking at. The first was a small bow. Felin saw herself pulling the drawstring, but fumbling, causing the arrow to go in a different direction. No... her glance shifted to a sword, and Akin flitted over to it. Felin tilted her head. Swords were always nice, they never failed unless you had poor grip on it or an unsteady hand. Akin flitted over to a larger sword. Felin saw herself trying to lift the thing off the ground, and having very unstable footing when swinging it. She shook her head, and put her hands on her hips. "There's gotta be something here."

Suddenly, a tall business scrub with light green leaf-hair popped out of the Deku Flower in the middle of the floor. "Well, hello there, and welcome to my shop. I'm glad you stopped by; I just realized that I'd forgotten to put out my 'Open' mat this morning. It's about noon now, and I'd wondered why I hadn't had any business. Not that I usually have much business but...well..." he trailed off and started walking across the shop. He went around a counter and sat down on a small wooden stool.
"So, what can I do for a couple of young earthbounders like yourselves? Come for some home decor? I've got more than anyone else in Deku Town! Why, look at the selection I've got of Autumn decorations!" he said, pointing to one of the shelves in the shop on the far wall, where rested a wide variety of odds and ends with a certain Fall flair.

Felin looked at the Deku that suddenly appeared from the flower. He said something about his welcome mat, and Felin turned to the door. It would definitely draw in more customers. Speaking of which...
"Actually, we came here to get some weapons." she glanced at the wall she had been observing since she entered the shop. "We've been called on a great mission by the Deku Tree and gotta go outside the forest, and were guided up here." she paused, her next words quieter than a whisper. "Almost died in the process..."

"Weapons, eh?" he said, his circular, snout-like mouth curving in a frown. "Well, I have to admit, I don't have many for someone so small as you. Most of these I just keep around the store as keepsakes, you know, random junk I collect. Ah, but wait a moment!"
He bent down behind the counter, and a sliding sound could be heard as he pulled out a large drawer. He stood up slowly, with the wooden drawer in his hands, and set it on top of the counter. It was filled with knives, daggers, and small swords. "These are all the blades I have that are suitable for a Kokiri. You can try 'em out for a second if you want, but do remember that these are very much real, and deadly sharp. Don't want any accidents. By the way, do you mean to pay for this weapon you're after right now? Because I have to say, they're all very expensive. I'm not sure if you'll be able to..... Oh, but then again..." After that, he simply trailed off and shook his head, then smiled and waved his hand in a gesture to tell Felin to go ahead and take a look.

Felin lifted an eyebrow when Fen ducked beneath the counter. After he pulled it out and showd it to her, she began to peruse through the blades that were in it. She only raised her eyes when Fen mentioned subtlely about the price. She straightened, wondering that herself. She quickly checked her wallet, and noticed she had only spare change-a total of thirty-seven rupees. Crud. Her usual cheery demeanor flipped, as she frowned at how little she had. Though not knowing how much the blades in the drawer were, she guessed they were worth a lot more than thirty-seven rupees. She didn't exactly want to climb all the way back down to scrounge for change, or see how much she had in her own stockpile in her basement. She looked to Izzy briefly, and figured he had just about the same as her.
Akin flitted down to the counter, waiting for Felin's decision. "Come on, we don't have all day!" he then turned to Fen. "Mr. Fen sir, would you be willing to strike a bargain of sorts? We really need to get on the road soon. It's a fate-of-the-world thing." Akin was bluffing, as he said those last words, but he pulled it off so casually, one could buy it. He himself wasn't sure if his words were true, but from what he heard in tales of the Old One, it was under similar circumstances.

Fen nodded at the faery and grabbed one of the swords in the drawer. Its hilt and guard were a vibrant purple. "I'll make a deal with you, little lady. You see, we Deku have been having some troubles lately. Nasty business. And our poor Chieftain is at his wits' end. Now, I'm not sure if two young earthbounders can fix these problems, but... Well, since you are on the Great Tree's business and all, I suppose if he trusts you, that's good enough even for the Chieftain."
At this point, he grabbed the blade and held the hilt of the sword out to Felin. "So here's the deal. I'm going to give you this sword, free of charge. Money-wise, anyway. And in return, all I want you to do, is take that blue-haired boy there with ya, and go see the Chieftain. Tell him the Great Tree sent you, and he'll fix you up good and proper. Now, this deal's only good so long as you do as the Chieftain says, understand?"
