The blinding flash of light. Edel got up into a sitting position, squinting her eyes to make out what had just happened. A hooded figure stood in front of the now destroyed water pipe, texting away on some strange device. The frost demon had managed to hear what the stranger had been muttering – it wasn't good news. Intuition told her that this ..... was probably not part of what she had signed up for.
Still sitting there, drenched, the ghoul stared at the hooded stranger as a turmoil of feelings stirred within her. Yes, she was afraid. And yes, there was a desperation in her that was trying to figure out a way to get out of here. But strangely, there was a bit of defiance that surfaced as well.
Her question was simply this, “What do you want with us?”.

Lizzy brought her arms up to shield her eyes from the sudden bright light, wondering what was happening as she found herself drenched in... She did not want to know what she had been drenched with. She did, however, want to know what just happened - before she could react to the loud sound of the once-water spout crashing down, she found herself thrown backwards by an unknown force, hitting the floor painfully on her bottom.
She winced, her spider legs dissipating as she finally looked up, her eyes landing on the figure who was the cause of all of the damage.
... A figure dressed in a hood, holding a glowing weapon. Sure, there was no fog here but there was no mistaking it - what was one of them doing here? The glowing scythe that seemed so familiar - where had she seen those markings before? - was ignored. Her eyes, wide with fright, darted about the room, trying to find an exit, any exit. Meanwhile, her heart threatened to burst out of her chest with every beat.
Jack damnit, this could not be happening. No no no no.
A small voice at the back of her head muttered 'aim for the balls', but she wasn't sure that was sure a good idea at the moment; the hooded figures she had faced back on that foggy island did not have the ability to send her flying backwards with a force like that. This guy...
"You. What are you doing here?" She finally found her voice, although it was shaky as she scrambled to her feet, standing in front of her teammates; she was the senior. She had to do something, even if it seemed useless at this point in time. There was that part of her who wanted to curl up into a ball, but there was also that part of her who started raging at being called 'creature' and 'baggage' - she was sure he was referring to them.

Lattice absorbed the room information and seemed pretty impressed when Lizzy's shape gained several other appendages but before she could even so much as comment on it there was something suddenly invading the room they were in. Something that dazzled her sight with just enough light to get past the cloth within her mask and knock her off her feet as her arms protectively wrapped around Inky to keep him safe from harm. While Inky struggled to get out of her grasp and after a moment it popped out. It waddled its way to stand next to Lizzy with tiny arms upon its little waist as if to mean business.
Inky was brave when it counted and its girls were in danger. Now was time for bravery.
The ghoul felt fear clutch at her. What did all of this mean? She had no idea this was supposed to just be a simple fieldtrip! Her fingertips twitched a bit as she struggled to get up so she could collect Inky and protect him from whatever was about to happen but the words the figure said made her freeze. Lizzy was doing an upstanding job looking after them all but...
She didn't want her friend to get hurt, "I do not understand what is happening but I would very much like it if you would let us all go." Lattice requested instead of questioning. She didn't have questions she just wanted to get out of this in one piece. The Engraver suddenly felt as if she should have just insisted on going with her Sister back to the Manor like she originally wanted to.

One minute, Before was in that really cold room with the cracking ice and the freezing water and all those Patrick Swayze-wannabees, the next minute he yelled out his acceptance, and now he's... Where the hell is he!? DDDD8
Teal eyes fell upon the familiar scythe wielder and the others present... O.O?! Wait, wait, why did some of them look familiar? And suddenly Before is having flashbacks to the floresctival when he was in the tiny imp golem form and that huge-a** giant fish-dragon-serpent-monster-thing ;A;!!!!
"W-wh-whaaaaaat?!"

THE ????..? MORE LIKE THE @(%&@#)$@.
Just as she was happily warming herself up, the pipe cracked into two, and once more, Vieve found herself in the drizzle, which quickly put out any flame she had managed to create.
Squinting at the man who'd just appeared, Vieve said an extremely rude word. At first she thought he might have been a plumber, come to fix the huge pipe- but the way he spoke, and the things he was saying, didn't sound very plumberlike. Creatures? She couldn't deny that, technically, butt that wasn't to say she enjoyed being called a creature. Not to mention the way he'd knocked them away. Vieve struggled to get up, hissing. How much worse could this get...?
Her answers soon came, with another plumber popping up randomly.
"DON'T ******** ASK A QUESTION, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO'S SUPPOSED TO BE ANSWERING THEM." Grumpy enough from the rain to begin with, the fire elemental was practically raging now.
Lizzy's legs were a small matter compared to the guy with the huge scythe, and the new plumber-intruder.

She wrinkled her nose, making a face as she took a look around her new surroundings, wondering where the terrible stench was coming from; there was the unmistakable hooded figure - Caelius - as well as four... School girls? What? Then again, on closer inspection, they were just one of those creatures... She liked them better when they were locked behind bars, where they belong.
"Is this some sort of cosplay?" She laughed, taking her place beside Before as she grinned, still soaked from her previous room but so happy at the prospects of being able to contribute that she did not seem to notice, "How cute." She fingered the pendent around her neck before pulling the other necklace - two metallic balls connected by a single black chain - out.
You never know when it might come in handy!
<Ohhh, I claim the tall, pointy eared one! She's a cutie and I would love to be alllll over her~>
Ariane only grinned.

She had seen and experienced for herself what these hooded figures could do. She had heard from one of them what they do to Halloween denizens - take them, torture them, turn them into weapons... Tools. The thought was enough to make her angry again, some of the fear in her fading away; ugh, if it boiled down to a fight, she would fight... There was no way she would allow herself to just be taken away.
She looked at Vieve worryingly at her outburst; that's right... They had no idea know who - what - they were up against since they had only enrolled after the older students had returned from their field trip to that foggy island.
Perhaps it was for the best.
Her attention went briefly to the two newcomers; were they the 'help' that first hooded figure spoke of? One of them looked confused, the other... Well, Lizzy did not like the look on the other figure's face at all.

Was all that Tikaanis had heard from Atti as she made her way over to the next room. There were other ... people? No. These creatures.. Halloween students? It made sense. This was their enemy. They were a threat to all of man kind every where. Tika did her best to not look like she was hurting in the face of the enemy. But it was clear she was wounded by the blood dripping down her arm. Edward Sullen had been a force to recon with.
Tika took up a stance next to Ariane and said nothing.

"What the bloody hell is that smell?"
Words coming out in a clipped, British accent, Gale arrived soon after Tika, Jinhai with him. He did not recognize where they were, except that it seemed they were in some large room, and the hooded figure standing in front of them -
<< I see our fearless leader has arrived. >> the rifle murmured, a smirk in his voice, and Gale's face mirrored his voice. In front of their scythe wielding instructor stood four people -
- no. No those, were not people. Not people at all. Eyes narrowing , it appeared the creatures were dressed in...school girl outfits?
Odd. Very odd indeed. But he didn't particularly care about their peculiar styles of dress - just the fact that they were here at all was enough.
Gale moved to stand beside Ariane on her other side, the sniper rifle slung casually over his arm, the barrel resting on his shoulder as if it were no more than a mere coat. One finger resting on the handhold, directly beneath the trigger, his other hand rested on his hip, surveying the scene in front of him.
"What do you think, Boss?" he asked her, though his eyes were focused on the girls in front of him, along with Caelius. His lips twitched upwards in a vague resemblance of a smile, though he still had no idea what he was doing here. "What's it look like to you?"

Bix popped in right next to his team mates. They all looked bedraggled, still mostly wet and a few of them slightly bitten up or otherwise wounded. The ghost boo's really had not caused much more than an inconvenience but now they seemed to be facing .... school girls.
Cute school girls.
Who are obviously your enemy.
I kn..know that. Thanks. That one has ice on her ears so.. yeah I knew that. Glad to hear you are talking again.
I hate the cold. She hissed sharply. He had to admit it was nice being in a room that was above freezing, even if it stunk to high heaven.
Bix moved beside Gale, attempting to give a tough look as the tallest and oldest of the team. He still held his bow tightly though the charge that she'd held before had faded when they left the last room.

Battle: round 1! The hooded figure did not even turn to acknowledge the newcomers, simply raising one hand as the last of the strange reaper-like intruders filed in. For the Hunters, there was no mistaking Caelius's signature weapon, which seemed to glow with a light source of its own.
"Children, if you would please." The tone was flat out patronizing. "We haven't even begun the training exercise." As he spoke, he pulled out what seemed like a small bag within the folds of his cloak, reaching in to grab a small compact object, metallic in texture. It looked like a simple handgun. In the same motion, he threw one at the Hunters: at Gale, then Bix, Before, Tikaanis, and lastly Ariane.
Satisfied, they simply took one step backwards and sat down, out of all things, dismissing their scythe. The tension in the air could be cut with a knife, but the feeling of uncertainty prevented anyone from taking the first step.
"Let me explain the rules," the hooded figure propped their chin over one hand, "These newcomers here and us, we are not quite on your side. Yet." They seemed to be divulging some personal joke at the last comment. "Anyway, I've always found Fear very particular, you see, there is a rumour between my colleagues and I that Fear multiplies in power when driven to desperation. At any rate, the weapons - guns if you insist - have a unique single ability, that is, a twenty percent capture rate of containing any weak to moderate level Fear. The capture net is a prototype, but that's what makes things more interesting right? Just a straight up capture is no fun, so I thought, I'll give you Fear creatures a proposal." They leaned in slightly. "You can easily avoid capture if you manage fo finish off these intruders."
With those words -fight or die - the Caelius gave a brief nod to the Hunters. "Well then, I look forward to you testing out these prototypes. Good luck on your task." It was a sarcasm of the worst kind: even without the Hunters actually attacking, the Halloween creatures were outnumbered.OOC Rules Battle-related info: - Please refer to the battle guide! Gale caught the gun automatically, the hand that was not holding his rifle reaching out to snag the cool metal object between gloved fingers. Jinhai made a mildly disgruntled noise, as if to indicate that the small handgun was not a real gun, but Gale ignored him. Instead his gaze cut back to their instructor, standing in front of him and looking as imposing as he ever did.
Although his instructions this time were actually quite a bit more clear than the normal vague, unhelpful words he normally offered. Ignoring the four girls standing on the other side of Caelius, Gale's eyes narrowed slightly as he listened to the rules of their task.
Capture the targets.
<< Capture them? Not kill them? How very intriguing. >> Jinhai murmured, his voice a quiet whisper in Gale's mind. Gale remained silent, however, staring mutely down at the gun in his hand.
Then he shrugged, swung the rifle down off of his shoulder to hold it loosely in his gloved fingers, and pointed the capture gun directly at the nearest Halloween creature.
"Teacher says," he said, and shot.Quote: Target: Lattice. Bix's bow seemed useless once he was tossed the gun and the weapon dismissed reappearing in the sack on his hip safe and sound Even more flashbacks from the island flooded his mind as he turned over the hangun but this time instead of shuddering he sort of smiled, reminiscing. When did that change happen? When did the island become nothing more than a funny dream? He blinked as Gale quickly caught the first of the girls. "Sheeeit!" Go gale! Point and shoot! He'd caught the little buggers unaware. Bix attempted to duplicate it, aiming straight at the first one that caught his eyes. It was the pink hair really. He tried not to think that she was suuuuuuper cute! She's a demon. See the horns? That's even worse than most. But sssshe is cute. Go Bixy go!Bix blushed and gave Lizzy a look like he was totally in love... but instead of asking her out, he pulled the trigger. The recoil from the net was a lot stronger than he expected. He also wasn't used to recoil at all since now he strictly used a bow. His shot went above the demoness' head. "Dammit.." Bix backed up a bit, hoping the next shot would be more successful. Tikaanis caught the gun with her good arm. So, these were capture guns? The teen wasted no time targeting one of the students at random and shooting. She may have been a little to hasty in her attempt though. The weapon just barely missed Vieve! "Shoot. Shoot. SHOOT." Where the words coming from a distressed teen. She wanted to say something else. There wasn't any time for Lattice to do much of anything before she had time to think or summon anything she was suddenly caught. Lattice uttered a frustrated scream in a rare show of temper a scream that was actually pretty mournful. All she could think All she could believe was that she'd probably never see her sister again or her friends. Though fruitless she still tried to struggle a bit until her limbs just felt heavy and refusing to move and suddenly she was still feeling caged and uncomfortable.
Contained. She'd been contained.
Lattice searched for something she could say in this situation but nothing felt strong enough to suit it. Except for one simple phrase that was taught to her by a friend as she went down and eventually went still a single phrase exited her lips, "Oh ******** buddies." It was hoarse. Monotone and of course meant to be completely serious.
It didn't matter anymore because she was out for the count. Quote: Target: NA WAS CAUGHT. Damage: NA WAS CAUGHT HP: 0 Fear: Projectile Pins - With a bit of concentration Lattice can summon a needle that is embedded into her person into her hand and then throw it with some accuracy. Once the needle hits a mark, whether it is unintended the mark or the intended mark, the needle will disappear only to reappear back in its former place upon her person. There is about a two minute wait time from when the needle hits a target to when it reappears back in place and it takes about two seconds for the needle to materialize from its place on the limb to her hand to where she can throw it. Thus if she expends all her ammunition at once in a short span of time she will be somewhat helpless until the needles return. Right now she can only throw one at a time with mediocre speed. Naturally she is a bit hindered by her 'sight' thus those with visible ink on them might find themselves being more of a target.

Lattice was knocked out and captured.
Lattice. Was knocked out. And captured.
Her widened eyes was now completely devoid of fright as she glared up at the one responsible. Sure, she was currently covered in ink and whatever was in the now-damaged giant water spout, but perhaps that just made her look even more intimidating as she took a step forward, "A boil taking out a ghoul who was just standing there, frightened and confused? You monster."
Inhaling deeply to try to calm herself down despite the situation, she then launched herself forward towards the intruder who had taken out Lattice, "Teacher there says we just have to take you out, right?" Once near enough, she then delivered a crushing blow...
