How far is it into the school day? How have I not noticed him before? "With who? That's what I have next, actually." Camilla said with a calm smile. It's because you never lift your nose out of your book, moron! she responded in her mind, and closed the book in response to her thoughts as though saying Am not! to her own conscious. But even now Camilla was trying to imagine which character looked the most like this boy. Maybe he looked like a young Heathcliff... No no, the eyes were all wrong, or maybe a Mercutio, but the humor is not crude enough... She would place his looks and personality somewhere!

"I believe his name is Mr. Dominic. I sit in the very back of the class." Nicholas responded to her, starting to put his music away slowly. "Do you have him? Where do you sit?" He then asked her, just curious.

"I do." Camilla said, her voice sounded almost choked but she was laughing nervously. "I sit in the third row back, on the very far edge closest to the windows." She was getting excited -almost as excited as she had gotten at the end of A Tale of Two Cities when the man was being sentenced to death, but in a different way. She didn't know what would happen next, in this situation, and it definitely wasn't about to end in death.

"Well now isn't that interesting." Nicholas said with a smile. The bell then rang for lunch to end and for the students to head to their next period. "Well let us both head off to learn more atoms, elements, and Avagadro's number." Nicholas said as he put his book bag over his shoulder.

Jamila looked briefly towards the library as the bell to end lunch, although she couldn't have said why. Her next class was History and the cranky old man of a teacher would'nt even think of letting his students out of his sight at all times - which meant they never went to the library. Oh, well. It was time she started walking towards said class, her teacher also couldn't stand late students - one day he was in such a bad mood that any late students had to stay outside for the length of the entire class. So with that, Jamila picked up her backpack and trotted towards the distant classroom.
Her sister had pre-calculus next, as she knew, so maybe the two of them could see one another during passing period. Sometimes they did and would say 'hello', but stopping to chat unfortunately wasn't something that could happen over a five minute allowance of time. She wondered, how was her twin sister doing?

"If memory serves," Camilla said with a chuckle, "pre-calc doesn't equate to basic chemistry. But if that is some vague form of pick up line trying to hint at chemistry in class, it's funny." Again, Camilla's face brightened dramatically when she laughed, it was one of the rare times when she wasn't trying to be the perfect girls of the 18th century. Her entire upper row of teeth showed -also showing her braces- her cheeks swelled and turned pink as her eyes were squeezed shut by the silent laughter that sent her body into tremors.

Nicholas blushed, realizing that he was talking about the completely wrong class! "It baffles me to figure out why I said that when clearly Chemistry and Pre-cal are two completely different subjects, even if the two are both structured around math. And as for the pick up line, not at all. I guess that could be used as one though." He said, thinking about it a little. "I should just stop talking. I'm not making sense today." He told her, not understanding why he was talking so much. "I guess you begin to talk more once you begin to actually make friends. Interesting since I didn't even want to make friends in the first place." He said with a smile, pushing his glasses back onto his nose. He then saw her braces... "Metal in the mouth? I believe I had braces when I was thirteen. They were removed last year though. You wouldn't believe how bad my teeth were when I was little." He said with a laugh.

(Believe it or not! I actually laugh like that while around strangers or nervous, I love making a big deal out of it with friends because it's so ridiculous. I'm glad it makes you smile.)
Camilla refrained from pouting when he said that he should stop talking, but continued listening. "Lucky, I got mine on just this past summer. My front teeth were never bad, except for the fangs that you can still see if I smile too broadly, but the molars are so horrible they make it hard to eat." She said sheepishly. "I would have never guessed you had bad teeth. How bad are the retainers?"

"Wow. So you were like a vampire in a way with fangs." He said, only teasing her. "Well I got off lucky with the retainer. I use the plastic casing that you just pop over your teeth that isn't that visible unless you look really close. After six months I was told I only needed to wear them at night so that's when I wear them." He said to her.

"I guess, in a way, yeah." She said in agreement with the vampire thing. Totally un-original, but at least he wasn't a twi-hard. "that's nice, at least. Knowing my luck I'll be the nerd stuck the head gear where it wraps all the way around your face." Laughing again, Camilla rounded the corner into the class room. The school always seemed so small when she was talking to someone compared to when she was reading. Maybe she just noticed the size when she took her nose out of her books?

"Nah. That's only when it's a very serious case. Like you said, your teeth weren't that bad to start so the head gear shouldn't be needed." He said, chuckling himself as well. They soon made it to the classroom, Nicholas taking his seat in the back, too far away to continue his conversation with his new friend. He started to wonder how he got her to be his friend anyway when it wasn't his goal at all. He just shrugged and took out his notes for class, getting ready to learn.

Camilla sat in her desk, opened her calc book open to the section they were "learning" today and laid the homework for both today and tomorrow ontop of the open pages. Next to it she opened her free-reading book and a small notebook to doodle in. Yes, she was the kind of nerd that did all of the homework before it was even assigned, no she doesn't care what you think.

The class went by quickly and soon the bell rang for the last period of class. Nicholas grabbed his stuff and went up to Camilla. "Hey, what's you last period? Maybe you have my class but I never say you." He said to her with a chuckle.

Class all about droned by for Jamila, who had a low C in the class because sometimes she was pulled out of learning about early English settlers (spare her soul) for an early sports practice - and unfortunately that 'sometimes' would become an 'often' as the seasons would change. She paid attention in class and earned high 'B's on her assignments, but attendance was the big issue. Oh well, she really shouldn't complain - besides, when on earth had she heard Camilla complaining, ever?
Speaking of complaining, next Jamila had P.E., which was actually a fairly dreaded class for most but exhilirating for her. Being stuffed up in a class for her was just too much and she needed the fresh air. And even as she approached the girl's locker room to change into her uniform she heard a few complaints about both the class and all the noise the band was making recently for an upcoming game. There was a game coming up? Jamila looked up. Probably baseball or football, she thought lightly and disregarded the thought as she took off her shirt and changed into a slightly rumpled tee-shirt for physical education.
