And I'm finally starting to remember to post in a guild YAYY ME! Sorta....

Don't hold me to that though.. I have a tendency to forget I'm in a guild. .__.

Hmm... nope, no mercy: It's guild-mandated torture for you. (Gaia is very generous with the powers given to guild officials. mrgreen )

Oh fine, no torture. I hope this demonstrates that I am a kind and forgiving ruler; I will be very disappointed if there is any dissent when I order statues celebrating my greatness erected in the streets. mrgreen

lol, so, what other types of RP's do you enjoy Victarus?
PostPosted: Mon Sep 12, 2011 2:27 am

Hmm... I don't know really. I guess this is really the main kind of RP I enjoy.
I think the reason most other kinds of RP fall flat for me is because they don't properly channel the fact any RP is, by its very nature, competitive: People have different directions they want to take the story in. In a lot of RPs, it feels like there's this kind of passive-aggressive undertone that keeps popping up, like there are two actors on a stage trying to hint to the other that they're reading the wrong script. A character acts a way you don't want them to so your response is more lackluster than if they just said what you were expecting. In that kind of RP, it just seems like it would just be faster, easier, and far more enjoyable to just write the story yourself.
That's why I the players actually be competing against each other in their roles: The result is just so much more compelling. The competition between players for control of the story is now the competition between their characters as well: The loyal vassal strained by the lord's constant demands, the ambitious duke thwarted by his neighbors, and the cruel tyrant battling against his victims. With some minimal "hard" rules to serve as a playing field for this competition, I think you have a setup for the best kind of group storytelling imaginable.

...oh, and I like to RP as the cruel dictator of the guild, but I'm guessing that doesn't count. mrgreen

LOL! Well that answers that I suppose, still though, glad that at least you understand what's going on here, I'm still just figuring things out. The only thing I get is I'm supposed to try and gain the crown, after that my character will show a bit more of his true colors. Everything else involving some of the other stuff on the guild is a bit confusing xP

I'm a fan of medieval ages, so I adapted very quickly, but I can understand why you are confused. If you need help with something, send me a message, and I will try to help.
Victarus knows a lot too.

Alright so everyone knows...Victarus is a European history buff, I swear he has read more on European history since I have known him then I have read in my life in any subject. >.>

Now to run for my life....--Hides--

I know a bit on European history. In my spare time i download and listen to complete college course lectures, and have had a few on the history of Europe. I would definitely not claim to be knowledgeable on the subject. But I know more than the average bear...

We shall all be relying on you Victarus haha

My knowledge lies on the subject of horses mostly, but most animals I know something interesting about.

But asking me about horses and you will ended up with a lecture with the question being involved in it the whole time.

Wait... my character is the new king?!.... SWEET! GIMMIE ALL YOUR CAKES I DEMAND IT MAWHHAHAH!!!....

Okay, really confused as to what exactly I should do, do I need to change anything now. @_@ HALP!

I can RP a king easily enough, but I'm unsure how people wish to go about this in the guild

I love playing a character that appears as one thing, but within his own mind he is something different. xP

Well I already updated the stats-type stuff. The only other thing would be your court's title. If you have anything you wish to have discussed as a group, just call a Diet to do so.

With regard to the prestige thing, I guess maybe I chose a poor word for the stat. To give examples of a high score:
  • An Archbishop who's known and respected throughout the kingdom having candidates to the throne plea for his support.
  • A king that manages to assert his kingly authority over his vassals, with or without an army.
  • A vassal that frequently challenges his lord but is never put down for it.

And a low score:
  • A ruler that fails to keep his vassals in check.
  • A character that suffers an insult but does nothing to avenge his pride.

I guess it's kind of a "perceived strength" score, whatever a good name for that would be. The reason I was looking at a bonus for Saxony was that it seemed like everyone was afraid of them; popularity aside, they came in strong and others backed down a bit at their aggression. In light of that, I guess a +1 for both Saxony and Lotharingia make sense -- they've set themselves apart as the main players for the moment.

I don't know. Any thoughts on this? Maybe a suggestion for a better stat name? (Hey, the post-event thread worked! Yay for player input! mrgreen )
