V’al’s breath caught as a cracking shell gave fright to the wandering green and her eyes yellowed, but it seemed she wasn’t quite ready to either go Between or made a decision about a rider, because she went on off towards another egg. He sighed slowly, but at least there was some relief in the bronze making his decision.

Yes, it is, Lerath agreed to Sleeth. Mine is worried about the green though. I wonder if she has forgotten she is supposed to find a Rider or if she’s already got one in mind and just isn’t worried about it.

Balt’s heart pounded against his ribs like a thief breaking down a door. The bronze had chosen someone else; a disappointment, but only a small one. The hatching was only just beginning and there were many promising dragonets in this clutch.

He stood on one corner of the boys’ group near the front. Every nerve in his body pulsed with excitement and he struggled to keep his mind open and calm. The gambit of Impression dried his mouth until his tongue was as acrid as the hot sands beneath his feet and his palms soaked in cold sweat. He flexed his hands, eyeing the clouded egg with mounting anticipation. That egg had been on his mind for days. Whatever came out of that egg would be worth keeping an eye on. Possibly he would have to be ready to run. His plan was to keep his mind as relaxed as possible and avoid drawing too much attention to himself. If the dragonet chose him he felt confident it would find him easily. If not… well, it wouldn’t be the first time, and he would be glad to see that little dragon with a life mate, even though it stung. He just hoped one dragon in this clutch would be looking for him. Let this be my Turn, please let this one be mine! I’m ready!

As the happy little green drew close to the clouded egg she was in for another surprise. The explosive egg almost literally lived up to its namesake; shards of shell flew everywhere and once again the orbiting green scurried away with a shocked squeal. This was probably a wise move on her part, for the blue who rose from the wreckage of the egg screeched and glared around at the world with savage orange eyes. Fixing his gaze on the candidates he started to lope forward, but unsteady as any hatchling as he was he accidentally knocked against the clouded egg, which then cracked open to reveal a green. She was no more pleased than the blue, and quickly scrambled upright snarling at her sibling.

The previously bright hatching took on a very different tone as the two dragonets faced off against one another, snarling and hissing. After a few moments the clouded green struck out at the other dragonet with surprising speed, he only just managed to scramble back out of range. It was his turn to launch an attack then, and then the green again, and him and all the time they lunged at one another they moved closer and closer to the female candidates...

Allaxon was inspected by the bronze and then passed on. The pretty winged dragon chose his and Allaxon was relieved that he had impressed finally and had not gone between, it worried him when they did not impress right away. He heaved a sigh of relief and then his gaze followed the bouncing green as she wobbled over to the clouded egg. She seemed to want to help him but Allaxon worried that the clouded baby would not appreciate its sisters help. His hands sweated and he fidgeting as he stood waiting.

Lilias smiled when the little bronze impressed and watched the clouded egg nervously. It was showing signs of imminent hatching and she remembered the pent up anger that had radiated from the shell the time she had touched it. She inched a little bit further away from the egg, careful not to jostle the girls around her. She was very worried for the bouncy green and scanned the watching riders looking for D'lin. She new he was in the stands as he said he would be, his great bronze by his side. You think the bigger the dragon the easier it would be to find them in the spectators. She steeled herself and told herself that the clouded egg would hatch, walk around and hopefully impress without too much rending and tearing.

Jayden had to fight really hard to keep from covering his eyes as the little blue all but exploded out of his shell followed by a green who seemed just as angry. "Umm orange eyes is bad right?" He asked one of the candidates closest to him though he didn't really expect an answer.

The happy little green seemed to have ducked away from both of the fighting ones and Jayden watched with wide eyes as the combatants moved closer and closer to the girls with each strike...shards were they going to fight right in the midst of them? Or keep fighting each other until one was so wounded they went between? That would be horrible!

Melina watched with growing horror as what had started out as a good hatching quickly took a turn for the bad, no, make that a turn for the horrible. The dragonets were fighting - but dragons didn't fight each other! Melina gasped in alarm - they were coming right for them! Get out of the way! she yelled at the rest of the girls, dodging to the side herself. She looked about for the queen - why was she allowing this? Surely one or both of the hatchlings would go between if it was too horribly wounded! Heart in her throat, Melina watched as tears started to streak down her face - this was horrible! If only they could separate the pair without horrible injury to themselves.....she watched in abject horror, wringing her hands in helplessness as the siblings tumbled about.

Stop it, just stop! she cried out to no one in particular, though the idea was to be addressing the dragons. She doubted they'd even hear her, much less mind her, but there was too much emotion in her to be all bottled up in this moment. She wouldn't even mind one of the vicious beasts herself, as long as it meant they both remained alive and well, and the fight was called off.

Balt breathed in sharply, body tense all over. As the fight threatened to spill over to the girl’s side of the sands he twitched as if he wanted to run over and throw the girls out of the way, but he had more common sense than that. The fighting dragons weren’t close enough yet to pose a threat. He made the decision right then and there that if things got bad he would do everything in his power to make sure none of those girls got hurt. He would rather one of those dragons mauled him than stand here like a fool and do nothing!

The first Impression of the day! The bronze couldn't have been his so he bore no ill will to the kid who'd got lucky, and indeed as he'd thought earlier was quite pleased to have somebody taken out of the running by a dragon that would never choose him anyway. Zerivon's grin vanished abruptly however as a scream rang out across the sands. Oh. s**t. Even before the pair started moving Zerivon was backing away, remembering all too well the foreboding he'd felt on touching the void egg. He was going to give those two a wide berth, a very wide berth indeed. When he came up beside Tarel he halted and grimaced at the young harper.

"Keep light on your feet," he hissed between clenched teeth, "we might have to run!" It looked like the snarling dragons were bound for the female candidates at the moment but that could change in a heartbeat. Be ready to move, that was all he could do. Shards he hoped they didn't come over here, he really really did.

And the first Impression was made as the bronze ambled towards the boys. Narisa couldn't help but smile and silently congratulate the new pairing. And the green was still clinging to the bronze's side and happy as ever. Or was. Narisa couldn't blame the green for the sudden surprise of one egg exploding. It produced a blue that seemed to have an attitude to go with such a spectacular explosion of shell. Who was looking rather like he wanted a piece of something. Like candidates. Her eyes widened when he stumbled into another egg that had been working it's way to hatch. It produced another green. That was about the only fact she was able to register before the two started going after one another.

She felt a lurch in her. Was this common? Was it supposed to happen?! Shards what were they supposed to do! And....were they getting closer? Oh shards they were! Narisa felt herself take a rather large step back (or as much of one as she could without bumping into someone). It was instinctual. But she didn't try and run. Just gave the pair more space. Sort of. At least for the moment.

Good tempered as some of the eggs had been, certainly the two that had just hatched had not been among that number. Lena stifled a hiss in reaction to the clouded egg's green snarling and then swiping at the explosive blue, and they continued to fight...coming far too close for comfort to the female candidates. Blood might be drawn sooner than later onto the Hatching sands, and be it dragon's ichor or human's red, neither would be good for anyone. At least the cheerful little green had scurried out of harm's way? Please, both of you fighting...find Yours to reign you in! she thought quickly, light on her own feet as she prepared to dodge quickly were the hatchlings to continue their wayward course.

Uh-oh. Actually, that was an understatement. Either the explosive blue or the clouded green by themselves could have had potential to be trouble, but together? That had the makings of impending disaster, and their fight was headed this direction! Nawa started to move out of the way, ready to bolt outright if she had to. She'd heard stories of injury and even death, and she did not want to become one of them, thank you very much.

The explosion that revealed the Blue caused Cetalese to shield her face with her arms. She slowly lowered them, peeking out to see not only a hissing, agitated Blue, but a similarly tempered Green as well. These would be the eggs that Cetalese had not made a second trip back to during the Touching. They were certainly living up to their impressions, arguing as they seemed to be. She could already tell what was coming, before it even began.

Without being noticeable about it, Ceta carefully took Eliza's upper arm. Suddenly, the two dragonets lashed out at each other in turn, which of course turned into a full blown fight. The female Candidates had the misfortune of being in the path of the fight. Now that she was sure they were coming her way, Ceta began moving back-- as she knew the girls behind her were doing too-- and took Eliza with her, but she also began slowly moving to the side, down the rows of girls. If she could move far enough over and back, they might manage to evade the worst of the mauling, if not the entire fight between the dragons. Her eyes stayed locked on the fighting hatchlings as she moved, waiting to see if they could change course or even potentially stop fighting. She heard someone familiar scream at the other girls, but she ignored them. She knew it was common sense as well as O'rer's instructions to move if the dragonets came barreling towards them, but Melina's words would like strike a few of the more frozen scared girls into action.

"Don't trip," Cetalese said calmly and quietly to Eliza, hoping she could be heard over other shouts from the girls scrambling to get out of the way.

As many in the stands were doing now, V’al rose to his feet to better see the dragonets below. For a moment he expected the first hatched and distracted green to get caught between the pair, and for some cataclysmic accident to send them all between with pain, fear, and anger, but the snarling green and blue were shifting away, towards the gathered female candidates. “Stay out of their way!” he bellowed across the sands. It seemed a supremely obvious thing to do and he might have looked foolish crying out so, but he didn’t doubt at least one of the girls would be too brain-numbed by all the excitement to remember their own health.

Lerath’s humm grew more concerned, and he couldn’t help by look questioningly towards Brakiath, as if expecting their mother to do something about the squabbling.

Eliza felt Ceta take her arm and tug her backwards a bit - that to Eliza's mind was an exceedingly good plan considering the abrupt turn things had taken, young unbonded angry hatchlings were dangerous..people got killed and injured by them all the time. Yep..moving away seemed like a good idea. "I won't" She told Ceta quietly "Best to just...not draw their attention, they seem mostly interested in each other right now".

As they moved away from the fighting dragons Eliza tried to find the poor happy little green in hopes that she was alright and had managed to get herself out of the way...why wasn't Brakiath trying to stop the fight? Surely her young would listen to her!
