Fudge was a man who was drunk with power and fame and thus paranoid as hell. He didn't want to accept Voldemort's return because it would ruin his "perfect" world. He was content, happy, and felt safe in his position. Then Voldemort returned, Dumbledore and Harry tried to make him see it when the evidence was surmounting daily, but still he refused to see the obvious because he didnt want to lose his power and his "perfect" world.

Eh, a lot of politicians get power hungry when they get to their position. Fudge was no different. The Fudge era was very much a metaphor for govt secrecy and showing how a government can mislead the people through the media. For example, all the lies they spread about Harry and Dumbledore in the Daily Prophet.

and I am your core. To me, the Fudge-era was special in the sense that it takes special concentrations of moronic antics to be any worse than the Fudge era, and if your society got to that level, you are boned unless you appoined heavy-weight barber-surgeons instead of the professional surgeons we have, today who are more effective. What about the Scrimgeour era, otherwise known overall as the Era of Meh, to me?
