He was safely away from all the others, but for whatever reason he wasn't having as much fu--...er...he wasn't...as...intrigued...? Okay, whatever, it just wasn't the same as before now that he was away from all the others.
Brows furrowing angrily, the male grumbled at himself and hurled a few heaps of sand behind him, eager to find something that would take his mind off of himself.
As Tanuri violently threw sand behind him, his paw was struck with pain--familiar...pain.
Yanking his arm towards himself in disbelief, jaw agape, the male looked positively affronted at the ground. A drop of blood colored the sand and Tanuri shook his paw in an attempt to rid it of pain. Positively glowering, he used the same method as before and pulled out what he already knew was there--a sharp, old, bloody-smelling, pain-inducing object of STUPIDITY.
The male almost screamed a curse, but gagged on his word at the sight of the white lioness walking towards him.

 After returning from the lioness, Naseera with a new little friend beside her, the ecstatic young female grinned and chatted to the little bird excitedly as she showed off her trove of treasures recently liberated from the oasis bottom. Soon enough the pair of them were digging again, well, Kuza dug and her new friend kept his beady eyes open for any sign of new treasure. Kuza was up to her elbows in the thick grey muck as she enlarged her hole, claws making swift work of the loose mud with the young bird perched on her shoulder chirping instructions. They worked diligently for a while, Kuza taking a break every so often to lap at the water in the bottom of her original hole and to occasionally fix the mound of muck that was piling up behind her.

As the object finally came up to the surface, the rat's heart sunk into his chest. Sighing heavily to himself he finished resurfacing the object before reaching out a tiny finger to touch it.
Bad idea.
Immediately a creepy chill slid down his spine, and he retracted his finger eying the object suspiciously. It was such an odd object, with some strange markings, and obviously an ever stranger aura!
Maybe the better idea was to leave this creepy thing alone? Standing up onto his hind legs, the male scanned the area once more, taking note of some of the more interesting areas ahead of him. As he prepared to take off, he took one last look at the item and decided to drag it along with him. Wrapping his tail awkwardly around the object he set off to one of the landmarks he had mentally marked just moments ago.
But dragging that object had proven to be the wrong decision, after getting a few feet towards his new interest area, the rat tripped over something rough and ragged...

When the lioness was just a few paces away from the male, she she saw him look up at her and his body seemed to grow stiff. Momo continued forward and stopped before him. She paused there before setting the necklace down and casually looking to the side. She never was good at introductions. It was so much easier when conversations happened naturally.
"Here--" she said, "I thought you might like this."
Not wanting to make things awkward, the lioness moved a couple of steps away and dug at the soft ground. Upon feeling something round, the lioness pulled up her prize. It was a rather large, speckled egg. Surprised, the lioness rolled the egg over the sand, noting the weight. She looked over at the red lion.

Meeper burrowed into the loose dirt. Insects were plentiful and quickly gobbled down. Deliscious. His belly was pleasantly full now. Looking around there seemed to be more things being found. He wished he could find something too. How exciting it would be! Twitching his whiskers he scampered around looking.

 Moja hadn't expected to gain a new friend from her excavations, and certainly not one as cute! She placed the little bird atop her head and insisted to Ayo that he must stay away from the little guy and may not under any circumstances, eat him. Ayo stared at the bird with cold eyes. He didn't want a sibling, especially not one so tasty! He flicked his tongue in the bird's direction and made a point to curl tight around Moja's leg. And the little bird chirped nervously as it passed from one lioness to another, and with a new nest on top of Moja's head, he hunkered down, but made sure to keep a close eye on the snake. It wasn't very big yet, and he didn't trust it.
The lioness was rather unaware of the exchange between her two little friends, and she continued digging. Her paw hit a soft spot in the dirt and she patted at it again and her paw went surprisingly deep into the ground.
A wretched smell was released into the area and she discovered why. An egg. Augh. The lioness wrinkled her nose and quickly bounded from her hole to escape the smell. She threw a glance over her shoulder and shuddered. Such a bad smell. She began digging again.
((Sorry I didn't pick faster and that I caused this confusion. ; w; I'll have the second male bird. <3))

Staring blankly at his unexpected gift, Tanuri remained motionless for a few seconds, even as the lioness turned and began to dig. Finally, he bent down, clawed at the necklace, and pulled it over his head. He shook it down around his neck and examined it. His eyes wandered back to the lioness, but still he remained silent.
Until he saw what she had dug up, that is. Upon seeing the egg, Tanuri almost sneered at it.
"I wouldn't touch that too much if I were you," he cautioned.
Following her example, the male began to dig again. When his paw touched something eerily familiar, the lion pulled it up and his fears were realized. It was another egg.
He grimaced slightly and looked up at the lioness.
"Maybe we should change spots..." he said. "We"? Why did he say "we"?!
