Makani looked down at Violet. "Are you alright," he asked, a bit concerned. He'd heard of foxes that seriously hated storms before this, but he'd never actually met anyone like it. For unknown reasons he didn't feel at all inclinced to step away from Violet, even if she was mussing his fur. He was still kinda reveling in that new sensation, trying to figure out the why behind it.

“Y-yes I’m alright. There was just some cold water. I-I’m sorry I shouldn’t be… I’ll move away now.” Violet pulled herself away from Makani with all of her willpower being used to do so. Her cheeks were flaming and she was mortified with herself. She hardly knew this fox and yet she was so close to him. Strom or not this was unacceptable. “Sorry.”

Makani shrugged and looked off to the side. "If I had an issue with it I would have said something," he said, trying to seem aloof but feeling the blush spread across his cheeks anyway. In an attempt to hold firm to the fleeting denial, he added, "Trust me, I'm not one to usually hold things back."

“ah. Ok.” Violet wasn’t quite sure what to say about that. Makani did indeed not seem to hold things back, yet at the same time he really was quite the gentleman. “That’s nice to know. I feel a bit better knowing that I haven’t been disturbing you.” Violet was still blushing but she peeked at the male. He was looking away from her.

"Yes, it's actually quite the contrary," Makani said, trying to reassure Violet while also feeling his blush deepend. "Actually, I find your company to be-" BOOM! Whatever Makani had been about to say was instantly lost in the newest peal of thunder overhead. He glared upward at the sky, with lightning still forking through the louds to emit the lighter rumbles and the last of the large one dying away. "It's very rude to interrupt others you know," he tartly informed the sky.

Violet was listening intently to Makani’s words. His voice seemed so calm and strong. She found it soothing to listen too. Suddenly the crashing sound of lightning had her clinging to Makani once again. She didn’t even remember moving closer to him. She heard his proclamation to the sky and giggled a bit. How he could be so collected with the weather being what it was, was beyond her. Still pressed up to him she inhaled his scent simply breathing. He even smelled tropical despite having not been in his home for a while from the sounds of things.

Makani looked down at Violet, still mildly indignant. "Just because it is the weather does not excuse it from being rude," he said, tone of voice matching his expression quite nicely. He cast another dark look up at the sky.
Normally Makani didn't do things considered irrational, such as argue with the sky about the politeness of it timing with thunder. He lived in a place where storms could appear on a beautiful day with no warning whatsoever. Maybe it was just cause he was here, with Mili missing, and there was Violet, and he'd been about to say something potentially embarassing, and...
...And when had Violet gotten quite so close to him again? He must have missed it. She had a nice scent though, kinda foresty but a nonoffensive foresty smell. Sometimes he still have trouble with all this mainland stuff and its scents.

Unable to stop herself Violet giggled a bit. Makani seemed so serious about it. He even was brash enough to scold the elements themselves. Violet found it funny and charming. “I suppose your are right. Still I doubt the weather will listen.” She kept close to him and even dared to lean into him a bit. He was well muscled and strong. She let herself relax. She let herself close her eyes and listen to the sound of the rain and her own beating heart. She found it calming and pleasing. She found a mental image unfolding in her mind the flower on Makani’s fur was there in her mind many times in many colors. She wasn’t sure why but she liked the image. “I ah.” What could she really say? A blush crept up on her face and she wondered if she was over stepping her bounds by leaning on Makani. She wished not, he was a source of tranquility amidst the chaos.

Makani clucked in disapproval, shaking his head. "Well I shall have a few choice words with the next elemental I meet, then." He very lightly returned a bit of leaning pressure against Vi, more like he was offering more support than actually leaning against her.
"This is quite nice," he suddenly burst out. "I must admit it is always pleasant to have company during a storm, but your company is exceptionally enjoyable. Most would have mocked me for scolding a storm about manners. I'm sure it is quite silly, but we all have leave to be silly once in awhile anyway."

“I’ve never met an elemental before, otherwise I would be most happy to point you to them.” Violet found herself cherishing Makani’s touch. It was warm and made her feel safe and alright, even if the weather made her cringe. A blush found it’s way to her cheeks and reinforced the one already there. With her face now a deep scarlet Vi was sure she could hear her own heart threatening to beat right out of her chest. “I find your company quite enjoyable as well; I hope that I can continue to enjoy it even after the storm ends... I might not be the most well mannered or skilled fox in the world but I do know that a bit of humor ever now and then is a good thing. ”
(aww.. she admitted she likes him company.. and then changed the subject…… gonk *strangles Vi*)

Makani chuckled, a deep sound in the back of this throat that caused his body to vibrate slightly. "Don't sell yourself so short. You have quite an excellent set of manners, the best I have seen from any other foxes native to these.....to the mainland."
At that point he had to repress a sigh. Like it or not Makani had no way of getting back to his native home. He was going to have to learn how to get along in the lands he'd been coining barbaric from the moment he set paw to them. And if these lands had produced someone like Violet, perhaps there was yet hope.
"Well," he said into the silence he'd created, "at least the storm is moving along now." One of the few advantages to powerful storms with high winds, though doubtless the weather would be positively dreary for the next few days.

The vibrations that Makani was making were wreaking havoc with Vi’s pulse. She wondered how soon her heart would pop out of her chest. He was such a noble and kind fox. He really didn’t need to keep praising her so much.
Rubbing softly against him Violet spoke not realizing her voice was more of a soft contented purr then usual. “That is very kind of you to say, though you should meet my mother and my grandmother, I believe I inherited much of my personality from them.” Was it her imagination or was Makani a bit stiffer now like he was holding back.
Vi hadn’t even noticed the rain had lost it’s ferocity until Manki pointed it out. She risked peeking out at the outside of the shelter. Of course Makani was right and the storm was passing. She looked at Makani with a smile. “This is wonderful. Now we can find your sister.”

Makani looked over at Violet a little sheepishly. "Would you think less of me for not wanting to move yet? The rain here is cold and the wind makes it worse. Our shelter is still very dry, and thus warm, and seems it will stay so until the rain stops entirely."
His ears swiveled back and he found himself blushing again. "And your company only makes the idea of descending into the cold, wet that much less palatable."

Glancing back at Makani Violet couldn’t help but reflexively smile at his handsome face looking a bit shy for once. Then he said the part about her company. She was floored, embarrassed, and secretly thrilled. Makani was so strong and amazing. It was hard to breathe when he said something like that.
“I like the idea of spending more time in your company as well. I ah.. very much.. really.. ah.. l-l-like you.” It took a lot for Violet to say that, but it was the truth.

Makani smiled for a moment, then his face turned into a serious frown. He didn't say anything, but rather seemed to be in deep thought. Then the frown began to lighten, small creases in his face relaxing, but the expression remained just as serious.
"Then," he began, his voice as serious as his expression and tinged with a bit of his pompous attitude, "since we enjoy the company of each other so much we are reluctant to give it up, I shall call you my lover, so that you virute not suffer that other foxes might think you a casual wench."
It probably got a little mixed up when he added his flowery flourishes, but the basic gist was his was attempting to protect Violet's honor by claiming her as a potential mate rather than a simple fling. Since it was the first such time he'd done such a thing, having his words sound a touch confusing was at least slightly excusable.
