What does you soquili ask/tell the wishing star when he or she comes to ask for a basket? “I know it doesn’t look like much,” Aydan said nodding at his offering. “But it means a lot. At least it represents a lot to me. You see I was hurt a little while back… hurt pretty bad really. It wasn’t the first time we’ve crossed path with danger, we being my friends Sonja and Velika. Sonja’s really the one that leads us into danger most of the time, not that she tries to, danger just seems to find her. Anyways…it’s not just us anymore, we have Velkia to look out for too and I don’t want to see her get hurt.” He looked up at the pale purple orb and continued, “She patched me up, you know, using these same leaves. Good thing too, poor Sonja doesn’t know a thing about healing…But as for the reason why I’m here. I want to see things settle down a little and I’m hoping a few more hooves might help encourage us to avoid danger a little more often…it would be nice too, having a baby around, for all of us.”

The longer Nymphalidae stayed away from Hallows Bane, the more her heart yearned to return -- to hunt with him, to travel with him, to lay at his side. But these feelings still made her feel afraid, too. After returning to his homeland with him and giving birth to their unplanned foals, Nymphalidae was overwhelmed with a sense of entrapment and, in a moment of rash decision making, made off with one of the baskets that held their foal and fled. She had hoped, at least, the foal she stole away would resemble as much of a kalona as she had wanted in the first place -- she'd never intended to have foals with any other soquili but a strong, pureblooded kalona... which Hallow's Bane was not, and now her bloodline was still tainted. The foal that emerged from the basket was nothing that she expected, inheriting her weak, delicate wings, and she felt disappointed. And then she met the cruel kalona Asmodeus, who tricked her and defeated her in battle, only to steal her young foal away.

Alone now and with her view and respect for pureblooded kalonas shattered, Nymphalidae felt lost. She'd spent her whole life with a single goal, and without that, she didn't know what to do -- and her adamant will to stick to that goal only blinded her to everything that was right in front of her. But going back to Hallow's Bane now would mean admitting her mistakes and weaknesses, something she had never done before. And so it was when she gazed into the sky and saw the brilliantly shining star, she felt a small flutter of hope. Maybe...

"Star, I offer you this prey as a symbol of my strength. Even with these wings, I can still hunt alone and survive. My m-- Hallow's Bane, he is strong too, and overcomes the weakness of his small wings. I ask that you grant us with a gift, a foal to surpass all that we are, to combine only the strong bloodlines that flows through us both and to cast aside the weakness. A kalona --" for even though she had given up her own pursuit, it was still difficult to shake her view of them as the superior species "-- with strong wings, strong body, and a strong mind. This is what I want. I will return to him... even though I fear it, but perhaps if we were deemed worthy enough, strong enough together to be looked upon favorably by your higher power, I would feel more sure that I am not making a mistake." A sign. This was what she wanted. If something with a stronger power than she could ever comprehend blessed them with a foal, then maybe returning to Hallow's Bane is the right thing to do.

She had few choices. Return to him, or run as far as she could and never look back -- Nymphalidae didn't know which one she was more afraid of, but she used the Star as her guide and her courage, and deep down she knew it was going to bring her back to Bane.

Note: I accept the terms that mutants will not come out of this, and that the breed of the soquili prize is up to the colourist! Nymphalidae has specific expectations -- but maybe the Star feels what she needs is different than from what she wants!

Short IC Response: Tell me a little about your couple. What does you soquili ask/tell the wishing star when he or she comes to ask for a basket? Tawingo is the only one that is not effected by Ziggy's traditional means to woo a mare. She is mostly blind, and see's him for what he really is. This terrifies him to some extent, and intrigues him on others. He sings to her in the night, in order to find her, since she can't see him coming.

Sakura looked up at the passing star, her eyes shining brightly. Foals. Her whole life was dedicated to them. She could feel it in her veins, she was born to be a mother. To be wise, to be compassionate, to be loving and caring and everything else she had to be. A fierce yearning filled her chest that echoed in the sorrow reflected in her face.

Once, once she had had all that. She was surrounded by a family, by their smiling faces. She had loved them in all their folly. Her father standing by, strong and proud. Her mother, sweet and caring, as delicate as the water which breaks at the slightest ripple. And her siblings, oh her siblings. They had laughed together. They had cried together. They had lived and loved together. But now... now it was all gone.

Painful tears welled in the corners of her eyes as her chest constricted. It was like she was reliving the pain all over again. The death of her mother was slow and torturous. The foals had stood by, watching her slowly fade away, but being unable to do anything. And after she passed, the young ones had turned to their father for help, only to find him smothered in a dark cloud. He had tried, Sakura could understand that, but the wound was too fresh for him to function properly.

Finally, he had realized that he could no longer care for them alone. Leaving them in their birth cave, he made them promise to stay there and await his return. He would be back, he said. He would go to his old herd and bring back his parents. They would help raise the young foals who could not make the journey. He would be quick, he said. Only a few days. He left them his bracelets, a trinket he had acquired from their mother, as a token to comfort them in his brief absence.

But he had never returned. Heart broken but determined to survive, Sakura had placed the bracelets upon her own legs and then had led them out. They found food, water and already had their shelter. They grew and eventually they separated ways. But Sakura stayed, ever waiting for her father's return. He had promised. How could the others give up so easily?

But now she had a chance at her own happy family. A lone tear streaked down her face, leaving a damp trail down her cheek. It was not the same, no, but it was hers. Two foals already stirred within her belly, but she knew she wanted another. Adrian, kind kind Adrian, had offered to sire her foals. True, there was no love beyond that of close friends between them, but they were comfortable. They worked. And she would love her foals stronger than any mother had in the past.

"Please.." Came the hoarse whisper from her throat. "You know I was made to be a mother. I need this foal..." With heavy heart she reached down and unclasped the bracelets from her legs with her lips. Her breathing was labored, legs shaking. She wanted this foal so much. But... her bracelets... Closing her eyes to steady her nerves for a few moments, she took a deep breath.

"It was my parents who gave me life, and who gave me these bracelets. And now I give these bracelets to you, in the hope that you will make a new life." Her heart felt like it would tear in two. That was her last memento of her father. The sobs overcame her strong defenses, cracking through her and making her entire body shudder. But she raised her head to the sky, whispered "Please..." one last time, and turned and walked away.

And in some small part of her, perhaps she began to find closure.

Short IC Response: Sumire gently placed a night blooming moonflower grown deep in the Forrest. " Please star bring me life again. It's been so lifeless without my two babies both are grown up now. I worry about Regin my daughter. She been traveling looking for a miracle spring that can grant her wish. I hope she learn to love herself and that her lack of wings is no big deal." Sumire eyes tired up and she softly cried. At least her son was happy, with his life but she truly wished for a second chance. " I'll love any child made of me and my adorable lifemate, it would give me a second chance. This time I'll praise my foal and give him/her a spirit of self confidence. I'll pour my self into my offspring and make him/her strong of spirit ."

What does your soquili leave as an offering for the wishing star? the intertwined necklaces of both Rokhan and Setsumi.
Short IC Response: Rokhan knew a gift from the spirits when he saw one- Noticing the purple star in the sky was a clear sign and as he lifted his offering, a symbol of his connection to his love, towards the sky he smiled. His need was clear in his heart- It had been too long since Setsumi and he had been gifted with the small voices of children singing in their ears and souls. Their children. Though she never said anything aloud he could always see that slight downturn to her smile and the silent ache the love of his life carried with her... "If the spirits deem, it will be so."
He didn't feel the need to say anything more aloud but bowing his head he prayed to the spirits. Please, give my mate another chance at motherhood. Please say it will be so.

Verdandi’s tail flickered as she carried the flowers to the top of the hill hoping to be closer to the star placing the flowers down. She looked up at the star and closed her eyes wishing really hard.
