"Huge," he smirked. "Lucky for me, I can eat anything." By way of illustrating his point, Nahm took a bite of the fork he'd been using. It snapped more than crunched. Chewing metal was always a noisy proposition; he swallowed it mostly whole. Then he eyed the utensil. Half a fork was pretty useless. He shrugged and ate the rest of it, then leaned over and snagged a fresh one from the nearest person's tray to use on the cafeteria food. "Delicious," he said.
"Good to know," he said, giving her another blatant once-over. "Check. Mental note: chimeras are hot, judging by current sample."

Chun Mu looked across the table and her eyes met the shiny teeth of the grue. For some strange reason it made her feel uncomfortable, the curve of the mouth and the tone of his voice. It made her feel more than uncomfortable. She yanked on her noose-rope, which was under the table. She didn't know why she did it. she thought that maybe it was a bad habit from the previous life or something. MuMu continued to eat the toast, until she realized that the "jam" was moving. She put it back onto the plate with a disgusted look.
She couldn't take this anymore. She didn't know why the grue made her feel uncomfortable, especially with all the strange new things today. Stupid irrational phobia. "Goodbye everyone, thank you for letting me sit here," she grabbed her tray and dropped it off to be cleaned. The food here wasn't to Chun Mu's taste. Luckily, she can cook for herself, and she didn't have to eat anyways. She walked out of the cafeteria and went to look for another place to go to.

Merry smirked at his comment, rather tempted to ask if anything else on him fit the same description, but she behaved her self, mostly. Watching him gobble up the fork as if it were a piece of were a piece of hard candy. It was.. Impressive.
She couldn't be certain, unable to really see his face beneath the fall of shadows playing within his hood, but she got the distinct impression he was looking her over. An impression that was undoubtedly confirmed by the comment that followed. "You're just awful." She said it as though it were the best of compliments.
"So ah.." She plucked at his sleeve again, gaze flicking towards the door. "When do you think your brother might turn up?" She paused, actually considering the implications, then grinned. "And is he likely to follow along to whatever grand unveiling may occur?" Bad Merry!

Cady looked awfully surprised as the noose ghoul and the Charlie both abruptly got up and left. She looked mournfully down at the soup she'd been gulping down, and finally pushed it aside. Glancing back at the trays on the other table, she decided to leave them. Not much point in wasting perfectly good food by throwing it away. She took her own bowl and tossed it in the proper receptacle, waving goodbye to the spinks - sphinx?
She'd gotten kind of tired sitting anyway. She was feeling a little antsy- maybe she'd check out some booths before hitting the gym.

"Why thank you." Nahm took it as a compliment, chuckling. "Don't know," he answered her question. "Maybe he found someone to have a good chat with." Griiiiin. "We almost always hang out together, though."
He watched most of the rest of the visitors drift out of the cafeteria, and sighed dramatically. "Hey," he called after them. "I showered and everything this morning."

The chimera mirrored the grin she couldn't see. "Close, the pair of you?" Now she had to know. He had, though very subtly, implied the brother would likely want to come along in the event there was any slipping off into the shadows. Not that she really minded..
As the grue's attention turned towards those leaving, so too did Merry's. Pale lips pursed gently. "Let them go, they don't know what they're missing."

"Partners in crime," Nahm agreed. "The clan thinks sending us to school will keep us out of trouble." A quick, fluid shrug. "Me, I just want to have some fun." He waved the fresh fork in the air. "Fun's more fun with help, don't you agree?" He was still somewhat disgruntled over being separated from the little gang of cousins and friends back home that they'd run with. Frankly, though, it'd probably been a minor miracle of some sort that the crew had gotten away with as much as they did for as long as they did. And then one of the cousins had gotten too ambitious and gotten into so much hot water that it'd gotten all over all of them, and the deVarr clan hadn't been able to overlook or ignore that.
"True enough," he nodded. "Plenty of time to meet and greet yet. It's the first impressions, yeah?" The glitter of humor returned to his eyes as he shook off the momentary bad mood.

She couldn't help the snort that followed the reasoning for his and his brother's trip up to the school. "Oh yes, sending you out of their sight will surely keep you out of trouble." Her own creator had done something similar with her. He'd said she needed to get a handle on her abilities, but there was plenty more too it. The chimera was a handful, and seemed perfectly aware of it. "I agree though, fun is infinitely more fun with help."
There was the barest of lingering silences between them, and Merry amused herself for those short seconds by prodding the fat abdomen of a bug within the other monster's food, contemplating eating it herself. She was still hungry, but Nahm was far too interesting to walk away from. After a moment she picked the bug up, tossing it in her mouth as he began speaking again. Answering the question with a melodic hmm in affirmation. "You've won me over with your first impression."

"As long as they don't send us off to different schools." That threat had made an impression. While Nahm could and did function just fine on his own, the prospect of being seriously separated from his twin for any really significant period of time wasn't a pleasant one. Cousins, friends, other people, all well and good, but Ahm was his brother, and they'd shared plots and secrets since before coherent speech.
"Oh, that's good," he purred in response. "I hope you'll let me escort you a while longer, gorgeous." Outrageous, over-the-top flirting generally drew one of two responses: emphatic, flailing rejection (hilarious) or amused cooperation (awesome and also generally hilarious). It pleased him that Merry fell into the latter category.

She nodded, replacing her her hands under her chin to prop it up on her elbows, knees bending so hooves could kick rhythmically above the curve of her rear. She didn't have anyone in her life she was that attached to, but she could image being separated would suck immensely.
She didn't linger on the thought though, not with that purred response seeping from the shadows of his hoods. It caused shaded lids to lower, lips pursing of their own accord before splitting into a scandalous grin at the proposal. "Oh, I'd let you escort me anywhere, anytime." Brows arched. He was entirely too much fun.

"Really." Nahm grinned. He considered his tray, decided that his stomach was well enough appeased for the time being. "Want to go see if we can find Ahm? We could all explore together. Find out more about the school. I'm sure there's plenty of interesting spots to see."

Pointed ears visibly perked, and the ghoul was quick to sit up, knees rolling from the side to swing long legs off the edge of the table beside him. "Love to." She admitted bluntly, smoothing palms along her thighs and the drape of cloth that served as clothing.
She did take one brief moment to retrieve his discarded fork. Helping herself to a few bites of what remained on his tray before pushing it away and getting to her feet. She couldn't simply not eat, not with her DNA, but she didn't always need a full meal either. a snack would be fine, for a while anyways. "Let's leave no stone unturned and no shadow thoroughly investigated."

Nahm rose from his seat, chuckling under his breath. "Can find some nice crawly things under unturned stones," he said, and bowed to Merry. "Among other things." He offered his arm courteously to her as they headed for the door.

Laiha had arrived at the open house with a single location in mind. If she was to attend this school at any point in time, she absolutely required that the food be up to snuff. It seemed as if people had a serious aversion to her eating other students or their little fluffy doodads, and with a lack of living victims she would be forced to consume what was offered in the cafeteria.
The Devourer accepted the plate given to her, taking a long whiff as she headed for the tables. She did so without any regard for her peers, some of whom had already found friends and were conversing in groups. This was about the grub, not the socialization. Giving a soft hum, she sat down at an empty end and, as an afterthought, leaned down to sniff the table. Actually, that didn't smell half-bad! There was none of the usual cleanser scent. Pleasant. She gave the surface a tentative lick before running her tongue up her spoon. Hmmm...

xxxxxSince the grey haired boy just got up and left. Paige decided she would do the same. Before sneaking towards the door, she sauntered over to the cafeteria line and "stole" one of the free sample rolls that were sitting there. She picked out one that was stuffed with grass, a treat in Behemoth country. Suddenly the school didn't seem so bad.
xxxxxPulling her scarf over the smile that hid secretly on her face, she headed towards the door. So far the cafeteria had been a bust for her, but then again, it was probably better when it was filled with students and talk. She took a bite of the delicious roll and then took a few more steps forward.
xxxxxFlipping her roll in her hand, she arrived at the door. She turned around and waved a quick thank you and a thumbs up at the kitchen staff, showing her delight with the roll. It really wasn't the worst roll. Not as good as her grandma's, but not the worst. With that, she turned back around and headed out the door, eager to see some booths.
