Noj shrugged, grabbing her arm for support. "It was taken care of, don't worry." He looked her up and down, she seemed fine. Whether or not she channeled, he wouldn't pry. If she did she didn't know. Whatever, it didn't matter. Noj was a wilder as well when it came down to it. That Asha'man threw him off, but so did what she said. He'd figure it out, but not now. "Cellyn, we're leaving, heading South. Come on."

She wasn't stupid. "My horse ran off," she murmured, looking around, still slightly dazed from the shock. She took a few deep breaths, grateful for his grap on her arm. Shaking her head, she exhaled and felt marginally better. Cellyn stared up at him, eyes narrowed. "Did I channel? Did I...Heal you?" she demanded, only faltering slightly on the word.

Noj shook his head. "There was an Asha'man, he took care of it, don't worry, and you can ride my with me on my horse, unless you have the stomach to take one of theirs." He gestured toward the burning village. Then he sighed. "Look, we need to get out of here, lets go."

She let herself be led over to the massive black warhorse, secretly glad she'd have Noj for support. She didn't think she was up for riding alone at the moment, but...
"Why are you lying to me?" she demanded, glaring at him and pulling from his grip. "I'm not a child! And I'm not stupid, either! That Asha'man was nowhere near us. We'll talk about this once we're safely away from here, make no mistake on that," she promised him, waiting to be helped onto the horse. There was no way she was getting up there on her own.

Noj sighed and shook his head. Mounting the horse, he pulled her up, and after making sure she was securely on the saddle, spurred the horse into a gallop, his mind running at a million miles per hour. He'd watched his family slaughtered by Darkspawn, his men killed by Darkfriends, survived the Last Battle as a footman, evaded the Black Tower for most of the time he'd lived. Yet why did Noj have the feeling that what just happened was going to be worse than all of it combined. The fortelling, the healing, the...everything. The fact that the Darkfriend seemed to be looking for him was also quite disturbing. He glanced back at Cellyn. He supposed that he owed her an explanation. Slowing his horse and trotting him into a clearing off the road, Noj jumped off, used to the shock from the fall, and walking up to a tree, collapsed against it and slide to the ground. What had he gotten himself into?

Cellyn remained on top of the large warhorse - for tha'ts what she finally realized it was - who remained placidly still and didn't show any objection to her weight. Her eyes followed the agitated man, carefully noting his every movement. If she was trapped with a madman, though she doubted he was that, she would rather find out sooner than later.
"Hm," she murmured, stroking the horse's mane with a gentle hand she showed only to animals.

Noj took a deep breath to calm himself, and pulled himself to his feet. "Alright, you've seen me channel so I'll explain, from the start. First off, I sparked a good fifteen years before the Last Battle, though I never channeled enough to get much of the taint. There's a little but not nearly enough do anything, and the taint is gone now. If you want the truth of it, I'm in my mid thirties. That horse there was lifted from the Andoran Army, of which I served in prior to the Last Battle and was actually a Sergeant of. But, after watching all the men under me die, I couldn't take it anymore and left. Yes, despicable, whatever, I'm a deserter. I'm not fit to lead anyway. Beyond that I just wandered, and helped a small Borderland village stave off Trollocs, Myrdraal, and the Creator knows what else, survive, or tried. But again, I was the only one to survive. I don't know why it happens but every time I do anything, everyone around me dies. You will too, if you stick around too long, and I have a mighty damn bad feeling about what just happened to us. That...that woman was looking for me, expecting me." Noj sighed, looking around. He shouldn't dump her in the forest. "Look, staying with me is trouble, so I'll get you to the nearest town, and we'll part ways. I'll give you back your cloak and everything, I...I just need to get away from this."

Cellyn remained still and quiet for a time, stroking the horse's mane and looking like she was concentrating on something. She finally looked up and cocked an eyebrow at Noj. "Are you always such whiner?" she asked curiously. "Honestly, the way you go on, you'd think the Blight and the creation of Darkspawn could be laid at your doorstep as well. People always have trouble. Some more than others."
She shrugged, seemingly amused. "Self-pity isn't going to get you out of our deal. I said I need someone to get me south. As far as I can see, the fact that you can channel is a help, not a hindrance, since you don't have the taint."

Noj twitched an eyebrow. "Cellyn. Do you know what it's like to see your family killed before your eyes? Men, who looked to you for guidance, slaughtered because of your decisions? Innocent people who you were trying to protect, killed because you weren't able to. And to continue living through it all? I have a good feeling you don't, seeing how you acted back at that town. Well I'll tell you, it's horrific. And that's only if you're accustomed to taking the lives of others as I am I'd assume. For a completely innocent person I'd think that it'd break them. Don't treat me as if you know the world and all it's secrets little girl. I'll take you South, but once we hit anything close to a good sized town or city, my duty is up." Noj had recomposed himself successfully. The fortelling and the Asha'man's words rung through his head though. For as much death had gone on around him, Noj was still to selfish to throw away his life it seemed. All he knew was that he couldn't wait for this particular storm to blow over.

"Do as you wish, then," she muttered, peeved to her core. She had no respect for people who acted so high and mighty, as if nothing could be worse than what they had experienced. It was true, she had not led the life this man had, but hadn't many others? And they either died or found a way to keep living, as he obviously had. If he was so downtrodden and guilt-ridden, she thought, he should just throw himself off a cliff and spare everyone around him his self-righteous pity-filled lectures. Her eye twitched in irritation.

Noj sighed, taking a look at the road. It didn't seemed to be used often. A route important enough to have a path cut, but not enough so to get an incredible year long traffic. "I apologize for how I'm acting, you'll get further in life not writing off the worries and sufferings of others as frivolous because they don't directly affect you except for a sop story. The only reason I don't do anything about the disrespect to the memory of the dead is because I owe you one, though I guess it's pretty much paid off at this point." Noj glanced at the sun. It was past noon and the sun had moved substantially since he last checked. "I want to be in a town before nightfall. I don't want to be in these woods after fighting those Darkspawn." And seeing that Asha'man. Mounting the horse, making sure he didn't upset Cellyn's balance, he spurred Light Dancer into a moderate pace that could be kept for a few hours, not wanting to run the horse ragged, but also wanting to be further from what was behind him.

Cellyn could only roll her eyes and choke on her angry words. "Lack of respect for the dead?" she repeated in her head, holding onto Noj's - her - cloak tightly. "You mean lack of respect for you, you whiny, pitying fool. You can't apologize for your behavior and then go right on behaving the same way and think it's all right."
She wondered how no one had slapped the man for his condescending manners long ago and glared into his back.

The ride was long but blessedly quite, the idiot man sparing her any more bloody lectures. It seemed as long as she kept her mouth shut, so would he. And since she didn't have much of anything to say - nice, at least - that was easy.

Noj heaved a sigh of relief as he drew the two into a town. It wasn't large, but it was larger, that, at least, was a good sign. Sure, it was a gathering of people, but Noj felt much safer when he had a door he could bolt, and footsteps were more easily heard. Dismounting, he looked to Cellyn. "Find us a place to stay, or yourself, I don't really care either way. I'm gonna go get directions. Again, I'm sorry for my lack of composure, I...just have a past the enjoys catching up with me I suppose. Whatever happens, I'll be back for Light Dancer, so do as you will." Nodding to her, he hefted his blade, shaking his head at the rather large dents from fighting the Myrdraal. Those creatures were much stronger than they looked, their strength matching, if not surpassing the one of a man built like Noj. Taking a look around, he spotted a forge chimney, and made his way. The man inside was a stout, but well built man with a few serious lines dug into his face, betrayed by a few smile wrinkles. A harsh man proud of his work, if his guess was right.

"Sir, do you mind if I borrow the forge for a time to repair my sword, I'll make up what I spend in work."

The leathery blacksmith looked him up and down, noting the broad shoulders and large arms. "Do what you wish, but if you destroy your blade I still expect work from you, even if it's just carrying things."

Noj's face lit up. "Not a problem master blacksmith." Putting on an apron, Noj went about his work with some joy. The ability to make, and repair things, was one of the few things that brought him joy, and right now, he needed it. The repair to his blade only took around and hour, but Noj did use up some iron, so he began making nails and horse shoes. He was there a number of hours, during which he had shed his shirt due to the heat. It was still cold outside, but the forge was bathed in heat. It was a wonderful feeling.

Cellyn shrugged as he left her sitting on the war horse in the middle of the road. "Men and their manners," she grumbled, taking up Light Dancer's reins with a gentle hand he seemed to enjoy. As they made their way down the street, she had the distinct impression that she wasn't guiding the horse, but the other way around. She allowed herself a wry smile as they approached what had to be the most expensive inn in town, three stories tall and made entirely out of stone and wood.

After ensuring Light Dancer was safely ensconed and fed in his own stall, Cellyn entered the common room of the inn and smiled. It was bright and cheery, the patrons well-dressed and clean while music was playing from a bard she couldn't see yet. A tall, skinny woman approached her with an air of authority before she could get much further from the door.
"Is there anything I can do for you, ma'am?" she asked.
"I'd like two rooms for at least two nights, perhaps more," Cellyn said with a nod, following the woman over to the wide counter. A book was flipped open, notes taken. "A hot bath drawn in one them of them as well. Also, do you know where a tailor is in town?" she asked, becoming self-conscious of her travel-stained, dirty clothing and appearance.
"Yes, ma'am. Just down the street is a very reputable one," the woman replied, giving her a once-over and finding her satisfactory for the money as the coins were dropped onto the wood. "Would you like the bath drawn before or after?" she queried.
"After I return, please," Cellyn said. "Why bath when I'd have to change into dirty clothing again?" she thought. "Can I have these things washed afterwards?"
"Yes, ma'am, although that will add to the bill."
"That's fine, just let me know," she requested, taking the keys from the woman.
"The rooms are on the third floor, the very end of the hall to your right, ma'am."
"Thank you." Finishing up business, Cellyn found herself back on the street and only a few stores away from the tailor, a fact she noticed with a relieved sigh.

Several hours later found Cellyn not only with new gowns, hanging from the rack as she soaked in the hot water, but a new business contact. The man had been more than happy to find someone interested in his city fashions, unlike the people of the town, even if the travel meant it would take longer to sell. Her gowns were all new and freshly altered, having been displays for his talents and then shelved in despair of selling them.
"I feel human again," she murmured with a contented sigh, plaiting her wet hair and pinning it in a knot behind her head. The gown she chose was a deep shade of chocolate-brown, silver and black embroidery on the hems. Both the skirt and sleeves were full, falling in numerous folds from snug seams. The neck was to her throat, a bir of embroidery giving the appearance of a collar.
Her travel-worn things had been taken away for cleaning and she heaved a sigh of relief, moving to the door. "Might as well go see if he's here yet," she groused, though not as grumpily as she might have. She looked completely different, like a mature woman rather than a frivolous girl, and knew it, secretly hoping it might change Noj's attitude towards here even a little. Not worried about catcalls this time, she set her back as she headed down the stairs.

Noj smiled as he banged metal against metal. The blacksmith in charge of the forge, after seeing his work, deemed Noj worthy of repairing some weapons a passing caravan had turned in. The man probably hadn't worked on my swords or pikes before, and saw how easily Noj had repaired his own blade. It wasn't hard, as long as you could distinguish how the blade was originally forged, and the caravan guards weren't exactly using masterpieces. Eying a nearby clock, he sighed. He should probably find his way to the inn Cellyn had chosen. "Master Blacksmith, do you know where I could find a decent map of the area?"

The leathery faced man eyed Noj, waiting for the hiss of water from quenching a blade to quiet down. "I have a few, what do you need boy?" There it was again, though he might actually have years on him. Working over a forge for a living tended to make one seem older than they were.

"I'm making my way southward, so leave the winter behind me, and to see if I can make my way in one of the capitals, maybe Tar Valon or Andor, depending on there the road leads me."

The smith looked Noj up and down. "Boy, I doubt that you really need any help making your way, seems you already have, but I can give you a map for your trip, but you seem more of a soldier than anything. I won't pry, but you seem to have more than a quaint life ahead of you." He left for a moment and reemerged with a rolled piece of paper and tossed it over. "Your payment."

Giving the man his thanks, Noj returned his apron and tools, and after wiping some sweat with a rag redonned his shirt and cloak and left. He should probably pick up some supplies too, depending. Perhaps tomorrow he could work for coin. After some time checking stables Noj spotted Light Dancer in a stable, and after a pat on the steed's neck walked into the inn.
