Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l As the food was presented in front of the pair, Sarutobi broke the chopsticks and rolled his shoulders a bit. He didn't really know how else to explain the festival to the boy, so he let the conversation shift to where Masaki wanted it. "This one is for my grandfather who died this year. The second one is for my sensei and the last man before me in the village proficient in Mokuton; to be remembered by the both of us. These other two are for you." Patting the lanterns, Sarutobi ate quickly but with slightly better manners than he had when in the forest.
"I'll explain when we're done eating," the man said between slurping.

Damien Oweno {a.k.a Downer} Genin Taijutsu Sanbi
Tactical: (-3 posts for learning jutsu, reaction speed is one rank higher) Speed: (Move, dodge, and attack speed is one rank higher, hard for anyone below Jounnin to even track these ninja) Behind the girl's head he saw the familiar face of the Mizukage as he entered the festival. "Excuse me" He said hurriedly to the girl had been talking to. He strode over to meet Mizukage. He felt that he should be angry, that the man had let him go through the genin exam with full knowledge that he had a demon inside of him, but he knew he wasn't nearly strong enough to afford anger towards the leader of a village like his. if LT-Sensei is strong, this man must be a monster...He thought trying to see past the smile on the Mizukage's face. Lord Mizukage, do you have a moment to spare. I wanted to speak to you about a slight problem I've been having" He said. He tried to make the words sound nonchalant while simultaneously conveying the urgency of the matter, but it was a difficult task and he was sure he either sounded like one or the other. Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner Looking off into the distance, Luo noticed someone walking towards him with what looked like slight determination. Glancing over the man's shoulder, he saw no sight of Tsukiakari and before his father stood to say something, put a hand on his chest to stop him; he wasn't really doing anything anyway and was frankly bored with waiting on his cousin. As Damien finally approached and Luo recognized him as so, he listened to his request and nodded with a light smile. "Sure Damien, speak your mind. I hope you are enjoying the festival."
Observing his stiff composure while standing in front of him, Luo noticed that whatever it was really was bothering the man. His mind being elsewhere, he couldn't think of what it could be. Deciding to listen attentively, Luo placed his hands behind his back and waited for the man to air his grievance.

Masaki broke his chopsticks and started slurping the noodles up as soon as the orders were up. It was a grand meal compared to the dehydrated food he had to eat during training. After he finished he ate the spring roll that his sensei had neglected earlier. There was no need to waste good food after all. After finishing, he looked at his sensei quietly. He was confused, not enough to forget his food but enough to catch his interest afterwards. What use would he have for a lantern? Perhaps it was just so he didn't feel left out, a lot of the lanterns laying around could have been something similar.
((want me to make up some sort of background for him? or would you like to do the honors? Also, going to the lake with my Dad so wont be active today (maybe tonight)))

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Finishing his meal peacefully, he raised an eyebrow as Masaki broke his chopsticks and took the easy route. As he looked down at his spring role, his hand made a move for it but before he got there the thing was gone. Grumbling a little as his mouth twitched, he muttered between clenched teeth, "Luo's lesson on holding chopsticks not take, or are you just not practicing?" Placing some ryo on the counter and a tip for Nikko, Sarutobi nodded a thanks before getting up, having decided to let the spring roll go. "Well, let's head to the center where the shinobi memorial section is. I'll tell you all about the lanterns there. But first..."
Pulling out a match, he struck it on his flack jacket and lit each lantern, giving one to Masaki and deciding to hold the second one which held value for both of them. Navigating through the crowd wasn't difficult, just a tad bit annoying. At last however, they reached the fenced off area with two guards at the entrance. Their headbands were enough to permit them into the sole grassy circle of the entertainment district of kiri park, but family members and friends who weren't shinobi required a picture with themselves and the shinobi in question they lost and wished to remember. Usually this was reserved for those who lost people within that year, but it seemed the village understood that not everyone grieved within that time limit, allowing people to re-enter the grounds for up to ten years.
Walking through the area to the middle, there were six trees with hundreds of branches each. From each one hung a photo of any shinobi lost within the ten year permitting period as well as their name on the photo, and that branch dedicated solely to them and the people who would remember them. This was a part of the festival that was not as fun as the outside area. It was the task of finding your friend, brother, father, sister, mother, husband, wife, etc. The pair walked through and gazed at each picture, trying to figure out just if the next one they saw would be the ones they needed; and luckily, each section was grouped by family name. There was an etching in each tree in cement which hugged the trunk which uttered the words, 'Remember those who served our village strongly, and let us never forget the sacrifices these shinobi made so that we may live in peace."
There were some people crying in different areas, and most families hugging in silence as each member hung a lantern in their loved one's honor. It was both endearing and sad, a bittersweet moment for any villager. It was clear that the people of Kiri cared for their shinobi, and in most this stirred up nostalgia of friends and days passed for the old. However, the tone was not somber, not one bit. Kiri men and women took pride in their shinobi, and so before hanging a lantern and before leaving, each person went to each tree and bowed in thanks for what they had done; even going so far as to allow all festival goers after all is through to enter and do the same. And Sarutobi was no different, the first time slapping Masaki's back to force him to bow. It was here that Sarutobi would tell Masaki of the deaths of his parents long ago, and of his father; His sensei and last mokuton user of his generation.
((Eh, I could wing it. I would probably like you to choose a last name though...that would probably help))

((he wasn't drinking from the bowl, he was putting noodles in his mouth and then slurping them like any Japanese would silly.)) Masaki finished his noodles, placed his chopsticks across his bowl and moved it where the vendor could reach it easilly. He then looked at his sensei with an odd look. "Was I not using the chopsticks properly?"
He took the lantern offered him and then followed the man, holding the lantern in front of him in attempt to avoid getting it crushed by the crowd. He hadn't been paying a lot of attention to where they were going, simply following his sensei untill finally he stopped and slapped Masaki's back. They had reached a tall tree with more than a few lanterns on it, though it wasn't as brightly lit as a lot of the others. Masaki bowed as he was so forcefully instructed and then looked up. The tree seemed to be an unusual type for Kiri, everything about it was different from the rest. An engraving on the trunk read "Takagi 高木” Masaki looked up at his sensei. "What kind of name is Takagi?” ((What a corny last name))

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Staring at the picture of his sensei and his wife, Sarutobi sighed at Masaki's question. "I myself created this tree with one branch in particular that was stronger than the rest. Masumi Tagaki was a jounin of the mist, and a member of the ANBU for quite some time before she was to have a child. Unfortunately, she died during childbirth due to complications. Mayuri Tagaki was the father of this child, an ANBU jounin as well, and my sensei; the former Redwood of the Mist. That woman was your mother, and Mayuri your father. He died on a mission to Kumogakure, and at the time the former Mizukage had yet to initiate any plans for orphaned children. It was around the age of four I'm guessing that this happened to you."
Looking at the tree still, Sarutobi took a moment to admire it and remember his sensei fondly. "I was too young and out of the country for too long to find you or assume the duty of a primary caretaker up until this year when I returned from reconstructing parts of the forests of Konoha." Turning to look down at Masaki, he smiled with a nod and blurted, "But if you'll have me, I'll gladly do for you what your father did for me: Watch over you always."

(Sorry for the long wait, I've been getting ready for/on vacation for the past few days and haven't found the time, UNTIL NOW!!! *proceeds to type furiously*) Kaizen Minoru 改善 山崎實 Lotus of the Mist Fire | Lightning | Earth | Water | Wind
"We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..." Following quickly after Yamatano, his grin threatening to split his face in two, Kaizen's eyes quickly scanned the area, searching for any sign of the hidden fireworks. Rushing behind the curtain at the back of the stage, Kaizen slid through the split just as the guards were turning back to check on the stage. As he cast his gaze about, Kaizen almost let out a triumphant cry, there were the fire-works, barrels of them, from bundles of fire-crackers, to long paper-tubed rockets. Lifting a hand up to stroke his chin, Kaizen realized that there were far too many for Yamatano and himself to take them all.
Well, such a problem is easily solved for someone with his skill set. Eyes shifting to a deep sapphire blue, Kaizen said calmly, "Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu,", drawing water from the thick mist which constantly shrouded Kirigakure to form three exact replicas of himself, kimono and all. "Alright, you two go pick up the barrel over there, you come over and help me!" Kaizen ordered his clones in an excited whisper, pointing out the barrel in question before walking over another and motioning for the third clone to follow.
Looking towards Yamatano, Kaizen said as loudly as he could risk, “Let’s get these somewhere we can launch them, quick.”"... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear." [chakra: 66/68 -3 63/68]

"You knew I was the Sanbi. Or, at least that I 'have' the Sanbi...Inside of me." He said. It wasn't a question. They were both grown men. He was simply laying down the problem for them to speak about. "I'm sure you had your reasons, Lord Mizukage, so I will not question why you didn't tell me earlier. I'm getting past that. What I need to know now is how I control it. Earlier there was a bit of an incident, but my sensei managed to handle the situation well. I suppose what I'm saying is I want to know whatever the previous.....um...'hosts' for this thing knew. He finished and was silent. He felt slightly awkward bring this problem up during a festival, but it was important that he knew as much as he could as fast as he could. (( )) chakra: 24/37

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ Masaki listened intently, frown on his face. He hadn't had to worry about parents before this troublesome man arrived. He had learned quite a bit from the man, but the new information was proving worrisome. He'd barely even known what parents were when he was a kid, without friends to tell him such things. It was an unsettling thought that Masaki had come from parents. His foot smashed into the tree's trunk, causing the whole thing to shake, then he shoved the lantern back into the man's hands. "bull****!" He shoved his way through the crowd, and found a comfortable place to hide behind an empty vendor's stand. There he sat, because even angry he knew the Mizukage wanted him here, and the mizukage was in fact the mizukage. So he just sat. He had no idea what to do with this new information, even if in retrospect it seemed common sense that he had parents once. He hadn't stayed long enough to hear Sarutobi's adoption proposal.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner As Luo's attention dwindled on the words of Damien, he caught a glimpse of the word 'Sanbi' before thinking back to the words said earlier while catching up with the rest. He felt the need to apologize none-the-less, and even to still explain why the man had not been told. It was clear that Damien was angry, his sharpened features and tensed muscles saw to that. But Luo's face remained unchanged from his usual expression, pondering the question Damien was to get at when he reached the end of his complaint.
Clearing his throat of phlegm the moment Damien finished speaking, Luo replied promptly. "Firstly Damien, let me start off by saying that your fathers dedication to this village was the reason you ended up with the demon, and why he knew to warn you of it. We were forced to extract it from a genin who went rogue some time ago and seal it in a scroll. Unfortunately, a demon of such magnitude does not hold up in a scroll for more than sixteen hours. Your father before the demon was to return and for I to seek a host, offered you as one who was capable of containing what it was. He only asked that he have the pleasure of telling you himself. And so I said nothing."
Looking slightly behind the man towards his family, he could see them speaking with each other and looking at his father's watch wondering when they'd leave. Letting out a brisk sigh, Luo continued. "The three tailed turtle is a beast of water. Not very attentive or intelligent in nature, it was pretty easy to subdue, and I'm sure would no doubt fall for trickery. If you want to control it, then control yourself and your composure. Learn to treasure your gift of mastery over water without the use of seals of any sort, and learn to wield it as one of your greatest assets. Let us both hope that as your father said of you, you would become the stone fortress of the mist; as hardened as the shell of the beast within."
What Luo said was diplomatic, apologetic, and hopefully gave the man hope for the future. His age was quite far from the way he thought, and sometimes it created rifts in communication. But what he said here was clear and easy to understand for the man in front of him. He just hoped he accepted it as the honest truth.

Tactical: (-3 posts for learning jutsu, reaction speed is one rank higher) Speed: (Move, dodge, and attack speed is one rank higher, hard for anyone below Jounnin to even track these ninja) Damien was growing used to the ever present tautness of his skin. Reminding him of its durability. Stone Fortress of the Mist he thought, somewhat enamored by the idea of such a title. As far as the Sanbi was concerned, he concluded that he probably knew as much as anyone was going to know about it, that hadn't had to host it themselves. Trickery.....that shouldn't be too difficult he thought remembering when the beast had first made its presence known. It sort of disappointed him that he would have to use more of his mind than his physical power to overcome the beast. His goal had been to become so skilled in the ninja arts, that not even a massive beast could withstand his force The Sanbi still hadn't spoken a word since the encounter, and he wasn't sure if he could even reach the creature, mentally. He sent a mental probe throughout his mind and found no presence. Maybe it died he thought before feeling a simple flash of incredulous rage from within. um....so its not dead he concluded, opting to leave the creature alone, wherever it was. Lord Mizukage, my path from here is....uncertain he said sadly. My father is dead. I can't exactly 'avenge' him because the sea took his body. His only goal for me was to master this demon. A goal that I don't even know where to begin at. My training....the only creatures I've ever fought were dead before the fight started. I've no idea if my skills of combat are where they should be. What is my next step? How did you get as strong as you are? (( )) chakra: 24/37

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner Shrugging more towards the second question he was asked, Luo muttered, "Practice." The simple answer was not meant to be quizzical, or to annoy; he had literally gotten to where he was because of his training ethics. The manner in which the man trained was almost unlike any other shinobi in the village. "As for your next step, might I suggest the competition you are to participate in tomorrow? The whole point of the competition is to assess the genin so that I can properly place them in squads. However, it will give you a chance to assess yourselves as well. So, simply participate and perhaps then you will be able to tell just where your combat skills are. I'd gather by learning under LT you wouldn't be far behind by any means."
Inhaling silently for a moment, he spoke once more to see if there was anything else needed of him. "Well Damien, is there anything else I can help you with as of this moment?"
