Alex listened quietly to Paragon’s inspiring little speech. Rather than feeling inspired herself and catching a secondhand burn of the boy’s determination…she actually felt worse. She was supposed to be the impulsive and battle ready hero, and here was a rookie willing to jump into it blindly while she was ready to turn tail and run. Though…the fact that she was actually thinking about a fight first said something about how nervous she was about the whole thing. So…it wasn’t exactly like she was wanting to run from a fight just because. I mean…this wasn’t her team. She didn’t know these people, she didn’t know how they worked or fought, she basically would be fighting on her own. She knew how her team worked, how to pull combo moves and play tag-team…these people…she couldn’t do that. Plus…this was only half of the number she was used to working with for a job this big.
….still….that look in his eyes, that authoritive tone…trying to give her a pep talk…he reminded her a lot of…
After another thoughtful beat, she sighed deeply and looked away. ”Alright.” she replied, her tone still laced with nerves. ”Again though…my abilities are powered by anger or adrenaline. I don’t know now things go with…this kind of a task…but I’ll apologize ahead of time if I attack anyone or anything.” She had been known to attack her own team members before. And that was without being possessed or anything. Crossing her arms, she tried to straighten her stance and compose herself a bit. Try to get at least a little bit of her usual confidence back. ”And I suppose you’re right. Most people I know right now weren’t exactly up and about to tackle something like this. Would be good to try and help out…get some of the others back. At least Flash. Been babysitting this frienemy, and it would be nice to try and pass her back to him for a bit.” Batman was supposed to be back, right? She didn’t have to worry about him. The woman had said that he and someone else had come back. She really hadn’t seen any hint of him though.
At about that time the new arrival had made his presence known. The SHIELD badge had no meaning to Alex whatsoever, and she wasn't really the one to say if he could come or go.
/// I know what you mean... crying I also just realized that I have someone else that can help them out in Hell if and when they need it. Alex set it up for me and I didn't even realize it. ///

Paragon gave a slow nod."Right. Looks like everyone is coming by, and..."
He turned to see the SHIELD agent flash his badge, and he raised his eyebrows.
"Ah, a SHIELD agent..." he said softly. "Yeah, you could definitely help us all out. The more people we have on our side for this, the better. I'm Paragon."
He folded his arms. "So... are we able to get going? I mean, we know the mission, we've got volunteers... now we just need to get there."

As if to answer the young man's question, a large blue-gray portal expanded in the center of a wall next to them. Alex stood and stared at the large open portal for a moment, trying to shake the sudden churning in her gut, and cracked her neck. "Well...I guess that's it."
"Yes." the guardian replied. "That should take you close to the source. I am unable to see anything beyond that area, and I'm sure that something has happened deeper within. It's rare that I'm actually blocked from seeing or sensing anything. From what I can tell...the one behind this world is distracted at the moment. You should be able to at least investigate without too much trouble."

Paragon nodded, and looked to the others.
"Well... I'm the one yammering about how I can do this. Might as well be me who goes first..." he said with little more than a shrug. And, true to his word, he was the first to step on through... it was like walking through an open doorway, quite honestly.
((I'll leave the description of what is seen up to you, Saph, if you want. Also, what about those offline? ...Been waiting a while for this moment. *grumble grumble*))

/// I think everyone can pretty much just Exit to Hell when they leave. They shouldn't find anything until they reach the "core" of the planet. Which...will be extremely fortified with unnatural energy. Anyone get's near it though, and X will KNOW. And he will come. Other than that, have-at-it. Oh, and now I'm gone again till...um...a day or so.///
Alex watched as the man disappeared and just stood there for a moment. She gave a quick glance at the others, her eyes resting on Zatanna a bit longer than the rest, then uncrossed her arms. Drawing in a deep breath, she tried to compose herself as best she could and followed after them.

Vickie beamed with excitement. "Yesss! Gotham City, here we come!" For a moment, she jumped in triumph, but after a bit, she stopped and looked down to the animals. "They're coming too, right?" She shuffled, dashing to the bedroom, the bathroom, then back with her full costume on. "Ri~ight?" She was now sitting on the couch, tugging at her firey boots and tightening her hairtie. She wasn't Victoria anymore. Now, she was Impulse. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________↯

FG smiled as her sister returned in her uniform. She also ran into the bedroom a moment, reemerging with her own costume and her pup in her arms. The little golden seemed oddly comfortable with the situation.
"Of course."

((Roar. Sorry. ^^')) Impulse giggled and swooped up her cat, placing her gently inside of her jacket and zipping her up. She swung back and forth, smiling widely. I'm co~oming, Tim! She felt hearts rise above her head. Her cat's head poked its head out of her jacket and meowed. Impulse stuck her head back in. "No, no. Stay in 'dere. Siwwy kitty." She puckered her lips as she spoke, looking back up after a while. "Lead the way." Her sister did so. And they were off.

FG pulled the large black coat back on and rushed to the counters for a moment. Into the pockets she stuffed as many energy bars as she find. With that she called for the golden.
"Come on-"
She knew her dog would rather walk herself, and so she clipped on the leash, but for the moment Jackie was planning to carry her. Whenever they were alone, she'd do so.
Once her golden pup was in her arms, she took the first step out of Wally's apartment and took an (abnormally) quick pace through the structure, her sister right behind her. When they reached the street, she let her dog jump to the pavement, and the two girls disappeared into the Keystone crowd.
( How about we exit to Wayne Manor instead. wink They'll avoid the city.... if there isn't a topic on Wayne Manor, we should either post at the Batcave instead, or make a new topic for the manor. )

/// Actually, E's always posted in Gotham or Home Sweet Home when she needed to use the Manor. But, there seems to be enough people connected to Batman now that it would probably be better to have a new topic for the mansion. I'll get on that. ///

[Enter CAPTAIN AMERICA and JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES from ????]
The night in Keystone City was quiet, so unlike New York or L.A... but Captain America entered the city on his old motorcycle, with his old partner James "Bucky" Barnes alongside him, intent on finding the odd energy source that had been detected a few hours before.
"Hey, James, how're you holdin' up? Think we can find whatever energy spike there was?" he asked.

James glanced around the city. After so many years working for two different governments, doing their dirty work his senses grew. He knew that when it was quiet that usually meant a predator was around. It was how many said 'the calm before the storm' and he knew it was going to be a hell of a storm.
"I'm hanging in there, Steve. I don't like this though. Something isn't right. I don't know if we will find the spike or not. I do think trouble might find us though.", James said keeping his eyes open for any trouble.

"It usually does..." the Cap replied, steering his bike down a street... and immediately hitting the brakes.
There was some sort of giant covered in crystals who was holding a car over his head, scaring the living daylights out of the passengers inside.
"Looks like we found trouble for once," Cap said to Bucky, before quickly dismounting his bike and hurling his shield at the giant. It hit him ion the head and angled back, and Cap caught it expertly.
Doomsday, however, was far from fazed, and he turned to the duo and roared.

James smiled at the Captain, "I think you just pissed him off, Sir. Don't worry I'll take care of him for you."
James revved his motorcycle as he flew down the street towards the monster. He reached behind him and gripped his machine gun. He readied himself as he stood on top of his bike. He waited for his moment and turned his bike to the right as he leaped from it. He twisted in the air as he flew above Doomsday, letting loose a few rounds from his gun towards his head..
Using his left arm, he caught himself. Doing a one handed hand stand for a moment before flipping to his feet. He quickly spun around towards Doomsday and let loose another few rounds from his gun towards his legs this time.

Doomsday hardly felt the bullets hit him, and he turned toward James. "Stupid fool! You can't hurt me!" he yelled, aiming his Black Lantern Ring at the man and firing a blast of energy at him. Captain America, however leaped up onto the car that Doomsday was still holding, opened one of the doors, and helped the civilians out of it.
