Lyra listened as she watched the cylinder, forgetting the dishes since she was in such awe. "are there others like you?" she asked brow furrowed in misunderstanding, he had obviously been hurt by something that was equal if not stronger than his power, so why would another person chose him specifically. "The person who hurt you for instance could not have been human right? i mean there are very few stories where a human out fought a demon, and im sure there are few in this world like that" she said as she heard the news, a buisness man going to court for fraud, an on going search for some poor young woman who would probably be found dead in a wash some where come morning, and a man hunt locally, people were to absorbed in their own lives to really become anything more than money hungry slobs. sighing Lyra turned back to the sink and continued with the dishes. "i guess it would be typical of people to want something they cannot have" she said in reply, then turned to look at James when he told her what he was, "Such a heroic Idea, i guess you have your hands full though" she sighed.
Lyra slipped into a deeper sleep as James' voice faded from her senses. absent minded, she clung to James. one hand on his sleeve as she slept peacefully without any dreams slowly getting better as the fever began to drop. she had been scared when she woke first, not knowing where she was and then not seeing james near her when she did remember. She was starting to rely wholly on him, something she never did with other people hating to be a burden, but she could not help herself at this point. having been taken from her home, it was all a lot to absorb. she was lucky he still stuck by her side.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lavi watched the demon take the woman back inside. What is he doing to her? he thought scrambling to try and get to the door as another figure exited. startled Lavi fell on his face as he saw the undertaker dance out of the room to some music of his own. Blinking he watched the akward man wondering if he should just turn around now and walk away, or stand and wait for the immortal to leave, he seemed to absorbed in his music to notice him maybe...

James smiled as Lyra fell asleep, he felt her gently cling to him until she was fully sleeping. He leaned over gently and kissed Lyra on the forehead, pausing as she exhaled lightly when his lips met her skin. Sitting next to her for a while, James made sure she was sound asleep before he moved. James quietly and softly moved from her grasp after a few minutes. He stood by her bed and smiled, he was happy she started to remember things about them, it showed one of two things; how bad their memory wipe had been, or how much Lyra loved James. He hoped it was the latter. James sat down on his bed and simply looked over at Lyra, content to just watch her sleep for a little while.===== When David stepped outside, he barely noticed the fire spirit who he nearly walked into. Leaning against the wall, he looked down and said, "Ooooh a fire spirit. I haven't seen one of you in a long time, not my jurisdiction... Mmmm... well, I can see from your lifespan you're intent on going in there and stopping James from talking to his girlfriend alone. Personally, I wouldn't do that, but that's just me. I'm an immortal, and even I know that's bad for my health." David smiled lightly and giggled, rocking his head back and forth to the music that played on his headphones. He hummed lightly and tapped is foot lightly on the ground. He looked at the fire spirit and said, "So, what is your problem with James anyway? He's not evil. He's a Demon Overseer of Justice, he only eats corrupt souls." David extended a hand to help the fire spirit up off the ground, smiling lightly as he did.

Lavi sighed when the immortal saw him, it was awkward to try and talk to a man who was dancing to the rhythm of some unheard music without being distracted by his swaying. perhaps it was a way to get spirits and other people to let their guard down around him. "ah, I'm just curious about the human..." he said honestly, and had to think for a moment after David told him who James was. perhaps he was getting everything wrong, it wouldn't have been the first time he had gotten something like this wrong.Lavi was about to ask before a group of men approached David "she isn't dead is she," a vampire said stepping forward, with blood lust in his eyes since it seemed he could smell the human. "i don't care what my father said, that human has to leave" a forest spirit said as he pushed the vampire away. built like an ox the logger easily towered over the immortal. "let your demon friend know they are not welcome here" he said."you are not either, we know you were part of the reason that soul came here Lavi blinked looking at hte three men that had shown up, the third one was quiet but ere, having an odd look on his face that was across between boredom and amusement. "hold on a moment, How can you be blaming the human? she hasn't even been here for more than two hours," Lavi said holding his hands out in front of him and the forest spirit looked at him, "this has nothing to do with you" the big man said and Lavi felt hot inside, "what if i want it to be?"Lavi replied starting to glow.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Crouching on the ground Kayla stared at the ground trying to get a feel as to where her current pray had run off to. gun slung over her shoulder she placed a hand on the ground where a barely noticeable foot print was placed, and then sniffed for a scent. a breeze of a whiff of salt air and seagull poop and she had a scent. Recently a sea sprite had decided to escape to the main land to try and run from his own authorities, and since land was not their jurisdiction the sea people had requested that the hunters bring the creature back, that was where Kayla came in. As a were her tracking sense was far beyond normal range, being able to hear a rabbit run across a dirt path 20 yards in any direction and smell said rabbit's trail for 3 hours after it had past, she was the best in the business. so it made sense for the hunters to send her after a three foot man that was practically as light as a feather and could leave little to no trace of his passing if he chose to. Grumbling slightly Kayla stood again narrowing her eyes to block off her vision so she could concentrate on the sounds around her. she stood patiently for several moments before she heard a slightly abnormal sound off to her left and her throat vibrated slightly as a low growl filled the area. a catch of breath and then the rustle of leaves, she had him. roughly Kayla jumped in the direction of the fleeing convict. the sound of fabric ripping as she shifted into the form of a brown wolf, "you are gonna have to run faster than that" she hissed with a howl feeling the adreniline rush thought her body at the thought of a chase. it had been some time since she had been offered a good prey, within moments the little fat man was sprawled between her forepaws and she began to admit a low growl as she changed back, grabbing a stone she had on her belt that had not been torn she quickly strapped it to the man causing him to ice over. "s**t that was no fun" she growled, all that painstaking tracking and work, all for a few minute moments of chasing and going in for the kill, no this was childs play, no and insult how unsatisfactory this hunt had been. they had paid how much for something like this? what a joke, it was almost not even worth taking the money. Sighing as the adrenaline continued to race through her body she turned to begin the trek back to a human settlement a few miles behind her, she needed to find a place she could make a call back to headquarters.

Jack chewed the gum slowly counting the sticks several times over as James' power grew closer and closer. this is probably what a smoker feels like he thought to himself as he began to chew another piece as he watched the road ahead for signs of living. he could feel other presences like James within the direct vicinity of the strong demon, but none quite as flamboyant as the Demons, "there seems to be more than just our friend and his little girlfriend here Merrill" he said chewing the gum. he had actually tried smoking once before, it had been a fad among the humans, and when he tried it he found it to be as, if more revolting than the blasted brew they used to make and still made. nothing could compare to the sweet delicacy of sugar. The amount of power increased as they came closer and Jack had to wonder if he had been as powerful before he was not sure since it had been several centuries since the immortal had been in the presence James' true form. "take another right" he told Merrill and they suddenly saw the encampment as they rounded the corner. "i belive we have found it.

David giggled lightly at the fire spirit's reaction, though the three creatures in front of him thought he was laughing at him. The large forest spirit grabbed him by the collar and lifted him off the ground, saying, "Is something funny to you? Do we amuse you? You and your two friends have to leave!" David giggled again and spoke lightly, slightly strained, "Well, everything is funny to me. Heehee. And it is quite amusing for a harbinger of death to be lifted off the ground by a forest spirit. Heehee. And As for leaving. I'd like to see you try, heehee." At David's oddly sequentially mocking response, the forest spirit became even more angry. He growled and aimed a punch at David's stomach. David caught the punch and twisted the spirit's hand. Giggling, David reached up and twisted the spirit's other hand, making him release The Undertaker. Still smiling widely, David let go of one of the spirit's hands and placed the palm of his hand on the spirit's chest. The spirit managed to look down before David started to pull the spirit's soul out. David half separated the soul from the spirit's body and said, lightly, "Everything dies, everything withers, everything shall come to an end. Everything except those two in there. Your date is very slowly approaching friend, don't expedite the process." David giggled lightly and and released the spirit, his soul flowed back inside him and he collapsed on the ground in a heap. The vampire backed up slightly and the eerie third man shrugged and walked away. Turning to Lavi, David bobbed lightly to the music that was playing the entire time. He smiled and said, "Oh don't worry about the human, the demon will protect her if it's the last thing he does. So what's your name fire spirit? I already know it, but it's only polite to ask." David giggled lightly again, as though there was a perpetual joke entering his mind in between his sentences. There wasn't much else to say, as the vampire lifted the forest spirit up and helped him away, and James would tell David when he could come back in.===== Merrill sighed when Jack spoke, there was always a catch, always some other creature thinking they were helping. When they turned the corner, Merrill blinked lightly, she hadn't seen so many creatures in one place before. Sighing, she shut the car off and got out, looking around, there were many creatures around, but many seemed to either not notice Jack and Merrill or simply didn't care. She turned to Jack and said, "Come on, let's find James and his pet human, I want to talk to them first, see if I can get them to come with us without a fight." Merrill locked the car after Jack got out and sighed heading towards the direction where the extremely high power source was. Even she could feel James' power seeping out, and she wasn't very good at sensing power sources. Jack must be having a really hard time with that power level..." Merrill glanced around, seeing the creatures around her glaring at her; they obviously weren't big fans of humans.

Lavi watched as the undertaker took out the forest spirit, it had been some time since the big man had actually lost a fight and Lavi could not help but stare as the massive man fell to the ground in a crumpled heap. he could not believe such a small looking man could take out the beast of the encampment. Stunned he watched as the vampire took the unconscious spirit back with him. "L- Lavi" he replied still watching the other group before looking to the man. it was startling to him to realize the man standing before him had nearly wiped out the large figure only moments before. "why do you do that..." he said watching the immortal bob and dance to some unheard music. he had said that the human would be safe with the demon, but Lavi still had his doubts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Jack followed closely behind Merrill, not wanting her out of his sight. the hostile air towards her left him slightly anxious for her, but he did not let it show as he seemed to carelessly wander behind the young woman. "you dont really think he will come with us so easily do you?" he smiled slightly liking her tone of optimism. He knew she was aware of what they were in for, he was thought slightly confused by her comment. She never tried to convince the targets to come quietly, she was usually a shoot first ask questions later kind of girl, was the thought of fighting an unsealed james that unnerving for her, "tell me Merrill, are you nervous?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyra opened her eyes for a moment to a mocha ceiling with no fan and blankets that were much heavier than usual. Shoving the comforter off her, she sat up abruptly and checked her surroundings catching sight of james and suddenly scrambling over the other side of the bed, clearly not remembering the last few hours she had been sick. "Holy s**t!" she cried now a mass of blankets and sheets that crumpled and twisted about her body while she kicked on the floor, trying to at least get her head clear of the mess. "where the hell am i!?" she shouted just as her head cleared the blankets and her hair scattered about her head like an untamed beast.

David continued to bob lightly and smiled at the fire spirit as he introduced himself. He paused in his motions for a moment as the song switched, but when it came back on he started bobbing again. He tilted his head slightly at the fire spirit's question, looking slightly confused His smile returned and he said, "Oh, this? I dunno... I just like music a lot... and it gets really really lonely when the only people you have to talk to are dead. Heehee." David giggled lightly, it was true, he was probably more than half-mad by this point, and if there was a deep end, he was about four hundred feet off of it. He continued to bob lightly and said, "Hey, listen to this, it's a good one. This can be a bit difficult with living people so hang on a moment." David smiled and held a hand to his temple, stared at the fire spirit and transmitted his thoughts to him. His thoughts were simple, it was just music, and it was coming through, clear and complete, it was as if Lavi was in the room with the people playing the instruments. When it was finished, David removed his hand and bobbed lightly to the next song and said, "Awesome, yeah? That, my friend, is why I do this." David smiled and did a bit of a pirouetting dance move and beamed at the fire spirit. He bobbed lightly and asked, "So... Lavi. What, my friend, is your particular problem with my friend James and his girlfriend Lyra?" David tapped his foot lightly on the ground as he bobbed, he was grinning like a madman and dancing like one too.===== Merrill sighed at Jack's comment and said, heading towards the power source, "You never know with people like James and his girl, they may have a sudden change of heart." She noticed the way Jack almost carelessly followed her; something was bothering him, and she knew it. When he asked whether or not she was nervous, Merrill answered, "Of course I'm nervous you buffoon. I'd be an idiot if I wasn't! An unsealed demon like James, if he wanted to he could tear me in half!" Merrill stopped and managed to punch Jack in the arm and continued on. As she approached the source of the immense power, she saw two people standing in the general vicinity of the source. One of them bobbed lightly, Merrill immediately recognized the immortal and sighed; if he was here, that meant that someone was due for a reaping.===== James immediately stood up wen Lyra decided to freak out. He watched her scramble away from him and sighed; apparently she didn't remember anything from before. James held out his hands and said, as gently as he could manage with his slightly demonic voice, "Just calm down... We're safe, we're in a hotel. Just calm down... Lyra, please. Just tell me... do you remember anything from the past few hours?" James' hair flowed very similarly to Lyra's hair, except it moved as though there was always a breeze through it and it moved like a living thing.

Lavi stared at his feet listening to the music, and feeling weird standing in front of this person while he telepathically transferred the music to his own mind. It was a good song, one he could easily enjoy, and as the song faded out, he shook his head as if broken from a spell, "Geze i hope you cant just step into my mind like that when you want to" he said taking a step back. it was scary to think of it, "Well, i was just curious about the human like the other creatures are..." he said scratching his head and adjusting his head band not sure if that was the real reason he had come, but it worked for him at the moment, "ah, i guess i should just leave then, sorry to bother you..." he said flushing slightly as he turned around to walk away, why the hell did i come here? he thought with a sigh as he kicked a pine cone that had just been sitting on the ground. before hearing more voices behind him, slowly he turned just as a blue man appeared next to the gray haired immortal
---------------------------------------------------
Jack Chuckled, as if i would let him he thought vowing to take his own life before he would let James do any permanent damage to her. he could hardly stop her from being injured, since it was part of the job description and he knew she would probably kill him again if he tried to get her to quit the job, Why am i so concerned for her now? was it what James had said earlier? he stopped for a moment as they caught sight of David and James had to smile, He had no quarrels with the undertaker, it was always a pleasant day when he got to see the soul reaper without having to worry about his own soul being taken. without warning he vanished from Merrill's side and appeared next to david. "Still working with those tunes huh?" he said watching the other immortal dance, "Im assuming James is in there with his pet right? was she on your list today?"
--------------------------------------------------------------
Lyra paused as she heard him speak, his voice sending chills down her spine because it was erily demonic. "of course, i remember... is that you James?" she asked clutching the blankets, "i remember you were driving the car..." she let her voice fade as she looked about the room again, there was an unhuman quality to it and she was unsure why. "i must have passed out during the ride, cause that is all i remember before waking up here..." she said looking back to James, "you look really different james..." she was not sure what to say, that he scared her? no it was James, she needed to trust James, after all he had saved her from those hunters right?

David smiled and twirled around to face Jack, saying, "The tunes will never die my friend! And James is in there with his girlfriend, yes. And no, I was here for a Corrupt. James had quite a good feast on that creature. Trust me, I won't be going after her soul any time soon. Or James' for that matter." David smiled widely and spun around, looking at Lavi and saying, "Lavi! Friendo! I think I'll hang with you for a bit, what's there to do around here for an immortal that takes steals people's souls for a living?" David slapped Lavi lightly on the back and followed him away, still dancing slightly as he moved. David didn't want to get in the middle of the feud between James and Jack. "I suppose they've both changed their names. 'James and Jack', they sound so similar, yet they're so far apart. Heehee, it seems they've both got a thing for human women."
=====
James frowned slightly; Lyra didn't remember any of the events prior, not even her remembering the week they spent together. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair and tried to think. He looked at Lyra and said, "You don't remember anything? You had a fever, you were resting... you woke up and started to remember a few things..." James blinked for a moment and is eyes opened wide, turning his head to look at the door. He walked up to it, pressed his hand up to the door and said, his voice very serious, "Lyra, get the bags together, the hunters have found us. We're going to need to get out of here quickly." James pushed out on the door and opened it with his other hand and winced slightly as the light hit his face. He frowned when he saw Jack standing a few feet away and said, "Nice, you managed to find me on a dirt road off of a straight highway. Amazing job, really." James crossed his arms and saw Merrill out of the corner of his eye and smiled. He laughed lightly and said, "Oh, Merrill's here... fun! And you look so... weak... I wonder how easy it would be too just get rid of the both of you..."

Lavi heard David as the immortal began to come his way. peaking over his shoulder he noticed the silver haired man running in his direction and a look of horror crossed over his face, and he immediately turned around to try and run away from the Undertaker. "Ah, no you old coot! there is no place of interest here!" he shouted as he ran, thinking some how he could out distance an immortal even thought he was a fire spirit. it was unlikely the Reaper would stop chasing him since he seemed to have interest in him, calling Lavi buddy and all...
--------------------------------------------------
Lyra stared at James for a few moments confused by what he had been saying, raising her head to her brow she wondered if she was still sick. how could she tell if she had even been sick. ignoring James for a moment she searched the room for a clock. she was interrupted when James told her to get the bags and she slowly did so, finding one bag had been opened containing their food. James opened the door to address a man outside and Lyra felt a chill run down her spine as she heard who replied. It had not been long since her last encounter with Jack, That was still fresh in her memory even if the other memories of the last few hours with James were not. She did not find any clocks about, but did notice the angle of the sun as she looked through the door, and judging where it was, what james had said could have been true. Jack looked in her direction and she ducked out of sight, as she felt some threatening vibes coming from the man. leaning against the door she looked up at James wondering what he was going to do, he had asked her to start this little journey with him and he needed to make sure she got out safe. She hated having to depend on him, she had always depended on herself for everything, so why had she even taken the chance to let some one else take control of her life. clutching the bags closer to herself she found she was getting frustrated because she could not and had not been able to do any thing for James since he had picked her up. silently she waited for him to tell her what to do for now she would have to trust him until she could help him out.
----------------------------------------------------
Jack smiled as James opened the door, "you dont look to bad yourself, you know in that state im sure a dodo would be aware of your power even from the grave" he retorted eyes glinting his murderous intent while his smile remained on his face, "i would not underestimate my abilities James, remember what happened last time' he said shifting slightly when the demon looked Merrill's way, why was he so up tight about James looking at Merrill, it wasnt like she could not handle herself if she got into a tight situation."don't forget that you have your own weaknesses too," he added as he saw Lyra look from behind James to see what was going on, perhaps Merrill was starting to mean something to him, in that case why not use James' trick against him, a little threat never hurt anyone right? "Merrill had a proposition for you, she said i was not allowed to touch you until you heard her out'

James scoffed at Jack's comments, the immortal actually thought he could win, it was laughable. He smirked when Jack told him that Merrill wanted to make a deal and said, "What's the matter? She got you by the collar? You know you just want to have a big fight right here and now." James smiled, his teeth razor sharp points at the moment, and continued to speak, "But okay, whatever. I'll listen to your girlfriend's proposal. I can't say I'll even consider it, but I'll hear her out." James reached into his pocket and pulled out the small black cube. He tossed it behind him and the car reformed, the back doors opening for Lyra and the bags. James smiled lightly as Merrill approached him, a little closer than he was terribly comfortable with, but he managed to deal with it. "Well? What's this proposal of yours?" James crossed his arms again and his hair flowed lightly towards Merrill, as though it was trying to grab her.
=====
Merrill sighed as she approached James, knowing he wouldn't lay a hand on her unless Jack let him. The way his hair moved like it's own creature was unnerving to say the least, but she managed to suppress that and calm herself enough to speak to James. "James... I want you to come back with me. Back to the organization." She could tell James didn't think highly of this when he scoffed at the idea and asked, "Why? What's in it for me to go back in that box, waiting for your boss to steal my powers? For her own personal gain I might add." Merrill sighed and shook her head, indicating that that wasn't what she meant, and replying, "I never said go back in the box James, I only said come back to the organization with me. Not in shackles, not sealed, after all, if you want to get back in and get rid of the boss, you're going to need the help of someone who has all the security keys and highest level access." Merrill grinned at James, placing a hand, lightly on his chest and saying, 'How do you think your box got unlocked this time? I have all the passwords and the keys." Merrill let her words sink in for a moment, it was true, she wanted to help James, but she couldn't do so unless she was alone, or at least alone with Jack. She could tell this shocked the both of them and sighed, lowering her arm and stepping back from James, towards Jack. She spoke quietly to him, saying, "I know you two have some bad history, but we need him. The boss is using the hunters for her own personal gain and I won't stand for it. We need James' help to get rid of her." Merrill crossed her arms, waiting for James' reply.

Jack stood there for a moment letting Merrill's words sink in as she stood next to him. she was looking to the demon for help, did she not think he was capable? it irritated him to think she did not look to him for help, but he was more surprised that she would go to this demon of all beings in this stupid world. Irrate he stepped back, "im leaving" he said and vanished suddenly, leaving Merrill to stand alone with the demon. He was confused, and upset of all things, why was he getting so worked up over this. Furious he did not think he could stay here without actually causing problems for any one.
-----------------------------------
Lyra watched the encounter and noticed as James threw the block. as expected the cube became a rolls roice again with doors open and waiting for them. TAking the hint she grabbed the bags she had packed and raced for the car. Tossing the bags into the front seat she managed to hear Merrill's plea for James' help and paused before she shut the door. they were chasing them to get his help? not to take them both away to some weird facility. pausing she looked back to see the blue man vanish. James what are you going to do? she thought it would be a chance for her to go home, does this mean there was really no reason for him taking her away?

James' eyes open wide when he heard Merrill's explanation, it was true that he wouldn't have been able to escape without outside help this time, but was Merrill really the reason? Why would the Hunter's best human member risk everything she would have worked for just to help him? It would seem she knew about the boss and what she was doing, so that might make sense; Merrill believed in the hunters' real goal, the protection of the different species from the violent ones. James thought about this for a moment or two, thinking it over. It was a viable plan, and he knew he would need inside help if he was going to eliminate that evil woman. He sighed lightly and was about to answer Merrill when jack said he was leaving and disappeared. James just stared at the spot where the blue haired demon was silently, forgetting about his answer for the moment.
=====
Merrill looked at Jack just before he disappeared as he spoke. "Jack! Wai-!" and she was cut off when he disappeared. Merrill's face fell , her normal expression replaced with a saddened and confused one, "Jack? Jack... come back..." Merrill pleaded nearly silently with the thin air around her. Merrill knew she was just talking to the air, but it didn't stop her from asking him to come back. She wasn't sure why, but when he disappeared, it caused a wrenching feeling in her heart, and something form in the pit of her stomach. Merrill looked down at the ground for a moment and inhaled slowly, trying to calm her nerves. She was alone with a soul sucking demon and a haven full of creatures on the run from people like her, it wouldn't be hard for them to get rid of her. She took a deep breath and asked, her voice quieter than usual, but still having its normal tough sounding quality, "Well James? Do you want to cooperate to get rid of her?" She watched James as he smiled and laughed lightly before he said, "Well Merrill, I'll have to think about it, after all, you did attack me and lock me in that box in the first place. Give me a few hours to talk it over with my friends." Merrill nodded, it wasn't like she had a choice; she couldn't attack him even if he denied her, without Jack to help her, in this situation she was basically powerless. She clenched her fist lightly and started back to her car, she didn't want to be out in the open among all these creatures when she was at such a disadvantage. She stepped lightly, glancing behind her every so often to make sure she wasn't being followed by someone or something. When she got back to her car, she simply sat in the driver's seat for a moment or two before saying quietly, to herself, "Jack... why did you have to leave?" She sighed lightly, she didn't know why his leaving bothered her so much, he disappeared often and she didn't keep him there against his will, so why did it bother her when he left this time?

Lyra watched from a distance as the woman talked with James a little longer before leaving, slowly she approached the white haired Demon, "James? she asked watching the silver haired woman walk away, she seemed more nervous since the other man had left, but the other creatures seemed even warier of her, since they had heard James and Jack call her by her name many had recognized one of the most deadly humans in their world and very few wanted to mess with her. "What are we going to do? does this mean we can go back?" she asked hopefully wanting to go home, she had never gone far from the apartment since her father had died preferring to be close to their memories. she had known she would have to leave them one day, but had not expected it to be so soon and so abrupt, "Hopefully my home is still in tact..." she said really wanting to get back there, and jumping slightly when James turned to her, she was still not used to this appearance.

It was silent in Merrill's car for several moments before Jack appeared in the back seat of the car, laying length wise across the back seat with his arm over his face, "I ran out of gum" he said not entirely lying since he did look paler than he had when he vanished. She was apparently discomforted by the fact that he had left her there with an unsealed James, he would not have let anything happen to her without jumping in to at least get her out of there, perhaps she was relying on him more than he thought, and perhaps more than she thought as well. There was another long moment of silence in the car and Jack could hear both their breathing, "Merrill, what am i to you?" he asked, uncharacteristic of him, but everything he seemed to be thinking of late was very different from his normal behavior, "I mean how have you always seen me? cause lately my own thoughts have been confusing me" he said simply staring at the roof of the car and waiting for her reply.

James frowned lightly, there was so much to think about, and now Merrill pulling this out of nowhere was really unexpected. He sighed and turned to Lyra and said, "Sadly, no... It's not just Merrill who's after us, and the hunters themselves aren't so understanding. You'll have to stay with me for a little while longer, I'm sorry." He noticed the way she jumped slightly when she saw him, and that made his heart ache; he knew she was still remembering things and wasn't used to him, but it still hurt to see her do that, even if it was involuntary. He sighed again and headed to the driver's side of the car. He wasn't sure what to do in such a situation, was Merrill really telling the truth? No, her aura was truthful while she said that, she was indeed speaking the truth. Why was he so hesitant to accept her help in such a situation?
=====
Merrill didn't move an inch when Jack reappeared in her car, nor did she react when he said he was out of gum. She just sat silently for a while, thinking about how to express what she felt at the moment. Then Jack dropped an out of place question. She slowly turned to face him and said, quietly, "You idiot... You stupid idiot..." Merrill resisted the urge to shoot Jack at that moment, he might have gotten blood on her car seats. She clenched her fist tightly and replied, "How do you think I've always seen you? You've been there so long I don't know what it's like to be alone anymore! You're always following me around, and I can tell when you're around and just trying to hide your presence..." Merrill sounded a little sad, and a little annoyed, but underneath that, there was a certain warmth to her voice, because she knew Jack would never do anything to her. She looked away quickly and said, "It's not as though I dislike it though... If... it really bothered me, I wouldn't let you follow me..." Merrill sighed heavily and tried to think. She wasn't sure what she thought anymore, everything was so complicated and confusing, she felt like the only person she could count on other than herself was Jack. Was that why it hurt her so much when he left her alone with James? She turned back to him and said, her voice abnormally quiet, "Obviously I like you, you idiot... You're handsome, and funny, and annoying, and everything I don't deserve..." Merrill avoided looking directly at him, but she wasn't sure why she didn't actually want to look right at him; it wasn't as though she didn't like the way he looked.

Lyra looked down slightly disappointed, "Of course, the other hunters" she sighed, yes she had forgotten about the other beings that would probably be hunting him down, if he was so valuable the person who wanted him would probably send more than a pair of hunters after him. sighing again she followed James back to the car and tried the handle to the passenger side. A few pulls and she found it did not want to open, blinking she looked through the window to see the door was unlocked, so she tried again pulling hard twice and nearly falling on her backside when the door seemed to fly at her face, reflex made her throw her arms up to cover her face, and after a few moments when she did not feel anything hit her she peered over her arms to see the passenger side door sitting open for her to get in. for a moment she just sat there wondering what had happened before standing and dusting off her back side before climbing into the Rolls Royce. closing the door she waited for something to happen before looking to James again "Are you going to help her out?" she asked wondering if he had had a relationship with the other woman. She had been confident enough to approach him and ask for his aid, or maybe she was taking things the wrong way. "She wanted you to take out her boss right? the person causing problems for you, if you did that might make things easier for you..." she could not come to say "us" because she still did not remember all that much of him, sure she had remembered brining him to her home, but what more. Biting her lip she looked away from him and out the car window, he had said she had remembered when she had been sick, was it bad luck that she had forgotten it all again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jack was surprised by her response, instead of shouting she was whispering, he felt his heart beat accelerate as if he was scared of the way she was acting, she liked having him with her... this excited him, he didn't understand, he sat up in the back seat and stared at the floor with a surprised look on his face, She liked him, of course she would other wise she would have gotten rid of him right? not likely that she could, but something had kept him coming back even after the last 54 shots to the head she had given him. Slowly he began to realize what James had said was true, Merrill was the one being he was attached to in this world, Like the demon he had found a partner in this relm that he had not been able to find in the other realm. without thinking he leaned towards Merrill as she watched him and without hesitation kissed her, long and sweet before he realized what he was doing. Jerking back he sat where he was waiting for Merrill to drag him from the car and shoot him. slowly he licked his lips and smiled, this was better than sugar! Sugar? oh man i should get some sugar... suddenly he became weary and feel over again in the back seat of the car.
