Christof's expression crumbled a bit, nervously fidgeting with the small pencil stub from one hand to another before finally the corners of his mouth twitched into a soft smile, reaching to ruffle the kelpie's ghoulish hair. He started to write again, getting as far as Brothers usually fight, from what I've read in sto- he stopped, brows furrowing once more. What was that noise...? Something was coming from the corn. It sounded like crying.

Was it a trap? Or was it a student in peril? In either case, he shoved the pencil in his pocket, motioning for Calder to take a turn with Barth as he raised his pipe and stepped into the corn.

Calder's ears flattened when he was petted, but it was a very comforting gesture. In fact, it seemed Christof was the first to ever do so since enrolling, and Calder felt better after. Brothers? He wondered if that's how Christof saw them. Still, just as he was about to ask and before the Igor could continue, a noise interrupted them. It was quiet at first, but grew louder.

Ears now fully perked up, Calder looked about, and in what he assumed where the noise was. It wasn't laughing or howling, but....crying? Looking over, he knew it wasn't Barth. The boil was still sleeping and not about anything that looked saw. No. This was someone or something else.

While Christof decided to take the lead and - DID HE JUST TELL HIM TO STAY PUT?! Calder frowned, standing up and picking up Barth. He was NOT going to be left alone while Christof got himself torn to pieces in some field. It was creepy being alone.

Following Christof with the sloth demon on his back, Calder moved in. "Sounds like a little ghoul." He said, looking around and maybe being a tad bit too close to Christof. Him, scared? As if!

Great. Christof was not especially fond of young younglings... he had trouble enough with Miss Amrita, and she wasn't even a REAL little girl. Still he kept his pipe ready, but inched forward away from the hovering horse and his burden. The rows were thick and it was difficult to see, but he didn't especially want the others to catch up and find them huddled together alone in the corn, thank you. His reputation was shaky enough as is.

His eyes narrowed, scanning the stalks for any sign of the person (Or Creature, he hadn't ruled that out yet either) in distress.

"Help."

The fog around Calder fizzled and curled until it solified into a solitary translucent figure - a ghost perhaps? "Help us," the voice continued, the boy could not have been any older than an Amityville Elementary student, "They promised me candy, but I never got any."

Said figure flickered for a second, returning back into the fog, before appearing mere feet away from the kelpie. "They promised me candy, but I didn't get any candy. Do you have any candy sir?"

Calder was keeping close, but Barth was making it hard to follow. With the boil on his back and juggling two knapsacks, he was rather occupied with it all. Christof didn't help either, ignoring him and walking further into the corn. "Christof." He hissed, trying his best not t raise his voice and bring attention to them from some crazy reaper. "......Chhhrrriiissttooofff." JACK CANDLES! The boil was already moving into the stalks and vanished from sight. "This isn't what brothers d." He hissed and looked around. The Igor didn't come back. "Christof?" He hissed, waiting, before his voice got tinier. "Christof....buddy?" No answer.

D:

Calder whined to himself as he looked around, before he noticed the fog licking about him. Oh no. The fog was back. "Christof. We're going to get lost if you run off." He said, and had a feeling he was talking to himself. At first.

When the fog actually collected into a shade, the kelpies eyes grew wider, wider, wider, and then his jaw dropped. "I'm not seeing this. I'm not seeing this." But he was. A little boil was there, looking rather sad. O_O; .............D:

"Candy?" He looked around as if he could spot a candy store and looked back at him. "I'm sorry. I don't have any candy. Um....let me check something." He slipped Barth off his shoulders and like Christof, checked the boil's pockets. Riffling around, he felt something circular and hard, and pulled it out. It was lozenge that was a little wet now and had a piece of lint stuck to it. Turning about, he offered the pathetic substitute that was the throat drop to him. "Want this? I think it's Scary Cherry. Or...maybe it's Mucus Melon." The drop was a little discolored now that he looked at it.

"Ooooh candy! You're the bestest!"

The tiny ghost's form flickered and suddenly reappeared against Calder, taking the malformed object off the kelpi and popping it into its mouth. "It's so sweeth an' chweee." Apparently this kid had not learned yet not to talk with its mouth full.

And audible gulp later, the child looked up at Kalder and clapped its hands together. "Thank you sir, I want to give you something too- ah! Here it is!" A long, jagged knife appeared from right within the kids hands, looking extremely oversized. "This is for you!"

At first it looked like the kid was pointing the oversized knife - how the heck were they even standing upright with that object - at the empty fog around them, on second glance, as the fog cleared just slightly, the edge of the blade grazed right against Christof. "Oh, don't worry, he wont die from it, but I'll make sure it'll hurt just right. I love helping out!"

He was pleased to see the kid didn't mind, and thought that, while creepy, the kid wasn't half bad. Maybe ghost power would keep the reapers off their back. At the mention of a gift, he perk up. A reward! He hoped it was a carrot! Sure, corn was well and good, but he would have KILLED for a carrot.

Instead, he was shown a knife. A very, VERY, VERY big knife. He looked at it with a unsure expression similar to someone who had wanted a eyephone for their birthday and got socks instead. "Thanks.....it's....really great." Well, a knife could stab thing. Maybe it wasn't half bad.

But he could be wrong....which he usually was.

Just then, the little boil brought the knife near Christof, who Calder just spotted. Panic swept through him as he looked at the kid. "ARE YOU CRAZY! DON'T CUT HIM! STOP IT!!!" He tried to grab the kid but, well, he was a ghost. "CHRISTOF! RUN AWAY FROM THE KNIFE! CRAZY GHOST KID IS TRYING TO CUT YOU!" Great. They were going to get held up by knife point in a corn field, and here his mommy mare told him that that he had to worry about the city.

Christof turned around and looked directly at Calder.

That was the last thing he did before the apparition yanked forwards with the knife, blade contacting against the patchwork with a sickening squelch. There were several more slices, each jab creating a deep black crevice in their flesh - was that their Fear escaping from them? - the blade took on a menacing blue glow as it flashed back and forth-

- And Christof was gone. All that remained of him was a single piece of patchwork finger.

The child licked the black substance - Christof's Fear off the blade. "Mmm.. I love candy!"

They flickered once again, and disappeared.

Calder watched in frozen horror as the small ghost boil ignored him and used the monstrously oversized knife to cut, slice, and stab his best friend over and over. Black gashes ripped into the Igor's body one by one, consuming him in massive wounds and leaking out what Calder could only assume was the valuable life essence that kept the boil alive. His friend alive. Here he had feed the ghost, and he was now destroying his make-believe brother.

Barth was dropped. Everyone was dropped as the knife was brought to the ghost who happily licked up what he considered a sweet treat. Somewhere between that point, Calder forgot to breath, and gasped in when the boy was gone…..taking his best friend in the universe with him.

Gone.

All gone.

Calder's body took one step, then another, and then he rushed over to where Christof was. Was. "Christof?! CHRISTOF?!!!" He cried out, looking around at the spot the boil once was. He looked around, repeating his name, looking out into the rows and rows of cornfields around him, gently swaying in the breeze. Silent witnesses. "CHRISTOF??!!!!" He cried out again, hoping he had misplaced him. Hoping the Igor was still holding his pipe and stalking about the corn. Something told him he wasn't. Something told him he was gone.

Racing about, Calder rushed into the fields of corn, trying to find his friend, crying out his name, but he found him nowhere. He returned to the spot, eyes flooded as he looked around.

"CHRISTOFFFF!!!!" He cried out, dropping to his knees as the very spot he last saw his friend, starting to dig for whatever reason. He had to be here. He had to be here. He had to be. He had to. He hadn't lost his best friend. He wasn't gone.

He just couldn't be…………and it couldn't be his fault.

Among the corn, Christof was, in fact, perfectly fine. Growing curious about the sobbing that he couldn't seem to find the source of, but no big knives stuck into him and all stitches mostly in tact. At Calder's sudden scream, the hunchback jumped in surprise, turning to lurch towards the sound, pipe at the ready to smash whatever attacker had taken the Kelpie only to see-

Calder was perfectly fine. Freaking out, and digging for some reason, but there was no sign of any attacker. He gave a grunt as he slipped between the corn stalks, lowering his weapon. What was the Kelpie's problem? Was he THAT scared? Sheesh. At least they weren't arguing anymore at least.

Tybalt heard the crying as he made his way back to the group. Though he wasn't sure who was crying. Perhaps it was someone in the group? Or maybe the b*****d that attacked him realized his pendant was gone or something? Whatever it was, it didn't stop him from trying to find the others.

"I hate this fog... can't see a damn thing." He muttered; pushing more corn out of his way, only to reveal---more corn... This was irritating. He wasn't dragged THAT far away. So why was it taking so long to find his way back? It wasn't his bad sense of direction kicking in again was it? Hopefully not. That would only add to his growing headache.

Grumbling a little more, he continued to push his way through the field, when he heard the kelpie's scream. A scream that would have made his blood run cold, if he had any. Did something happen? Had they been attacked..?

"s**t!" He cursed; running as fast as he could possibly manage through the stalks of corn. Luckily, the scream had been loud enough that the black dog was able to figure out the direction it had came from and was finally able to find his way back. Though rather than being happy, he was worried.

"What happened!?" He called.

The pipe went up again at the sudden sound of movement towards them, but when it was only Tybalt, the hunchback lowered his weapon once more with a frustrated expression. He pointed to Calder before giving a helpless shrug. The kelpie... didn't LOOK harmed, anyway... He had no idea what visions had transpired.

Fog. Vaith waved his hand in front of him, as if to dispel the whity smoky substance. He hoped it didn't have an effect on the lovely tux he was wearing. But even if it did, it was nothing that Vaith could do. He wondered if it was somehow possible to trap it in a bottle and take it home. That would be cool--

A scream interrupted his thoughts.

Vaith's first instinct .. Well, it certainly wasn't to run to where the source of danger was. But he wasn't exactly pleased about running around and hitting a tree. Or a male student. (Females were fine!) With his hands extended awkwardly in front of him, Vaith took slow steps to walk through the fog. There were some shadows ahead ... Was that shadows? Or was that an opening in the fog? Or was it the night sky? Or people? As Vaith neared the cornfield path, it started clearing up.

Oooh. He could see now. A surprising sound behind him caused him to turn-- and promptly meet a tail slapped in his face. "You're back!" He voiced in surprise-- his fear actually was working.

His reaper dragon screeched angrily to the side, attacking Vaith's head and hair. IT WAS MAAAAAAAD.

"Heyheyhey, it's not my fault you had to stay cooped up. It's not like my fear could work--- OWWWWWWWWWWWWW."

The envy demon was many things, but a outdoors man? No. He most definitely was not suited for so much traveling about like this. Tired, wet and disgruntled, as he realized that there was no reception on his phone and no way Carry could have gotten anything from him, he decided he needed to go look for her. There were a few options as to where to go and in all honesty, this place seemed the least likely of places he would expect her to go. After all, it was a cornfield... he figured she would have chosen to go to a town or some place with better shelter but... his thought process stopped and he lifted a hand to rub at his temples. His thoughts were racing too much but he was worried. If she was hurt or injured and needed him... and he wasn't there for her... he'd never forgive himself. Ever.

Stop, stop this. Being negative is not the way he was and he gave himself a firm and rough mental shake. Carry was resourceful if nothing less and he'd find her. Sooner or later. He would not give up the search until he knew she was safe. And hopefully, he'd run into Gabe.. or Alessa... or Amrita... Jack, anyone he knew would be good to see right about then! Hopefully, they were all faring well.

Where...the JACK am I?

Once he had separated from Jove back at the supplies tent, Ren had simply...walked. Walked for what seemed like hours, days even. Walked until his feet hurt and his body ached and he couldn't even see three feet in front of him.

...or two feet, even. Ren stared at the worn path beneath his feet, seeing slight indentations of footprints from whoever had come here before him. Sadly, he couldn't tell if there were any nix-shaped prints (or even shewolf or rabbit nagual shaped prints); just a lot of hard packed dirt and a few dusty strands of grass poking up every now and then. He had no idea if the group had even come this way; it was a hail Jack shot out of desperation. However, the path was pretty solid; clear and straight, and the fog was less dense here, which made Ren feel slightly better.

But only slightly.

A few more moments of walking, and Ren could make out tall, blobby plants. What were those? A few more feet and he deduced that they were, in fact, corn. He was nearing a corn field. Stopping at the edge, Ren reached up, poking one of the tall stalks. His finger came away slightly damp; the dew from the fog was misting on the plants.

He had started to feel a little more at easy, but something off in the distance made him stop. What was that..? Ren thought as he stood at the edge, hesitant to go in. It sounded like...is somebody crying..?

The sound was difficult to make out, but it was definitely sobs. Ren bit his lip, warring internally with himself. If there was a chance that it was one of his friends, or even one of the students, he would try and help. So, gritting his teeth, Ren pushed into the corn stalks - taller than himself - and disappeared deep into the cornfield.
