On Deck, Cap'n!
Barth had been, as usual, sleeping.
He stumbled blearily on deck, just in time to miss the giant squid, but not that everyone's attention was on the water. A distinctive flash of pink was all he needed to get a grip on the situation. Other students had started to fire grappling guns for West to hold onto. ...That couldn't be too difficult to do, right? Just pulling a trigger?
He didn't want to see West dying any time soon. Again.
Manning one of the spare handguns, Barth checked familiarized himself with the mechanism. Hooks. Wench. Reel. Pressure chamber. Grip. He pulled the trigger and gave it an experimental fire into the water. It went about halfway, out of West's range, and he checked for the lever to reel back in the zipline...there. Not so complicated. Kickback could use some smoothing.
The hook coiled back towards the boat with an automatic whir.
The sun on deck was threatening to make him nod off again.

Sepheran had finally pulled up his grapple resetting it carefully back into place after what had happened the last time he tried to fire. He made sure everything seemed fine before lifting the gun up once more aiming near West to be able to pull him in.
"Come on..." Sepheran hissed in a soft whisper manner as he pulled back the trigger once more. This time the grapple was released, but it didn't go as far out as Sephy had hoped. It seemed he was going to have to reel it in once again.

Mandy was still reeling in her last shot when Barth finally came up onto deck, sup rising her just slightly that he wasn't the last one up - what where the others doing that Barth beat them up. It still didn't stop her from being slightly sarcastic at him though, "Nice of you to join us Sleeping Beaut-"
She cut off, jaw snapping shut with a glare. He'd found the automatic reeler, something she hadn't even figured out these things had. To think she'd been doing this the hard way and it took him five seconds. Five seconds.
Sloths.
Huffing slightly she turned her focus back to the Wrath demon trying to get a good shot with him bobbing among the waves. Was he even trying to swim back.
Wait. Jack. Was he conscious? He wasn't sinking so she thought he was but well, for all she knew Wrath demons had the properties of rubber ducks.
Ok, getting him in just became even more important.
Too bad her aim still sucked. Sighing she hit the automatic reeler, kind of happy she now knew of it with how far she'd overshot West.

"It's a good thing the weather's clear," Barth half-joked. "Or this might be...err, on the difficult side."
This time when the gun fired, it dislodged and fell beside the boat.
"Hm," Barth said, pressing the reeling lever again. "Hope it didn't get water anywhere important. These are...no, hang on, I've got it this time." He adjusted the hook, twisting it until it was properly set.
"Why are we using grappling hooks, anyway? Don't we have anything...softer?"

Mandy did consider for a second how much more difficult this would have been in heavy rain and wind and quickly found herself nodding, "There is at least that."
When Barth mentioned water damage Mandy stopped squinting at hers. It didn't look damaged but she didn't have the best eyesight anyway. Probably not helping with her aim, it'd been easier with how much noise the squid made but she could barely hear West over the roar of the ocean.
"Well. I think I saw harpoons earlier. So I think this is the softer option.". How comforting. She'd be tying extra hard not to fall in now.
Enough chit chat, back to saving time. Steady breaths, line it up, try to figure out which way Aest was going to float next and adjust. Easy. Sorta. If you had better eyes.
Sighing she watched as line landed way short.

Sepheran huffed lightly as he finished reeling in his last shot. He looked over to Barth a moment glad a newcomer had come to help as well...though, according to Liannan, he looked kind of unreliable. Better then nothing though.
Resetting his grapple hook Sepheran tried to aim once more taking extra time to slowly aim, when he hit the right area he pulled the trigger once more. He hoped it would hit this time...who knows how long West could stay out there on his own.
Once again the shot feel short though making him huff unhappily. Perhaps he had grabbed a bad grapple gun?

Neither the Captain or First Mate were the soft sort, Barth thought. He shouldn't have been too surprised at the grappling guns.
He aimed this time, lining up the shot.
The grappling gun landed halfway. Barth leaned forward, without reeling it in.
"Hey West, who's the Sloth demon here, you or me? Swim for a hook before someone's aim improves." ...West wasn't still nursing that injury from Music Class, was he? Barth had missed out on the whole broken hand thing.

Mandy gave out a snort of laughter at Barths taunt to West. If it got the demon moving great, if not it was still pretty hilarious from where she stood.
Gun reloaded she once again lined up to shoot, hopefully this got over with soon, not that some excitement wasn't good but she was starting to feel like a nap - her last one had been disturbed after all.
Though with how wild her aim and the others was at the moment it didn't look like it was going to happen any time soon.

Barth reeled the gun back in.
Not that he was trying to promote hard work or anything, If he actually got the thing near West, he'd have to reel him back in again, and that would be the equivalent of some heavy lifting.
On second thought, with the automatic mechanism, all he'd have to do is make sure the gun was secured...he fired again, closer this time, but still shy of hammering the other avarice demon in the face with a grappling hook.
"You sure there's not something else we can fire?" He asked Mandy. "Life vest, ring? Aren't boats supposed to have safety measures...?"

Sepheran hissed lightly not at all too happy with how his aim was treating him. Mostly he was cursing that his had such bad eyesight, surely if he was able to see things would be different...right?
Then again he wasn't the only one having difficulties trying to reel in the overboard wrath demon...and the sloth made a good point. Why wasn't West trying to swim back? Was he unconscious. The thought worried him and he quickly reloaded for another shot. If that was the case they needed to get him out of there as soon as possible.
As he shot though the gun misfired once more uselessly falling to the sea just a foot in front of him. Taking the gun he threw it to the side. Useless thing...he'd go get a new one...

Mandy gave Barth a look at the mention of safety measures. "This school? Saftey? Just remember the last excursion.".
That's all she was going to say on the matter.
Now, West. Reel the line in, take aim, fire and probably miss. Where they missing something? She hadn't been able to hit the squid till she got close but they couldn't get any closer to West at the moment without joining him in the water.
Frowning Mandy took her shot again.
And missed again.
Definitely missing something.

"They gave us pills," Barth observed. "But we could have done with a few more."
He fired short again.
This was taking a while, but Barth didn't mind the pacing. ...West might. Another reel in, another hook adjustment. This was like a bad joke. A blind person, a sloth demon, and a drop bear try to hit a moving target...

Sepheran had indeed went and grabbed a new grapple hook. If there was any chance of it improving the distance and being able to say West from the clutches of the sea the basilisk was going to try it.
Coming to the edge of the ship he steadied himself once more. "This would be much easier if we weren't all so unlucky..." he muttered lightly obviously a little grumpy, but who wouldn't be...heck even West was probably pissed at how long this was taking.
Lifting the gun he fired, he could hear a nice sound come from it and a splash. Drat...Liannan said it landed just short of West, but at least it was improvement! Grabbing a new gun did make a difference after all!

"Err, yes, unlucky, right," Barth said, distracted but pulling the trigger anyway.
For the first time, the hook sailed past West, pulling too far to the right. It was the closest he had gotten so far.
"Whoops," he said, hitting the wench.

"And yet despite that i still sometimes swear I can feel the swords in my gut."
Though if she was entirely truthful that had been their own fault for being too loyal and daring.
...wait. Hold on. Brain flash. Probably incredibly stupid, but worth a shot.
Eyes glinting Mandy hopped over the rail at the side of the ship, an arm wrapped round it and foot hooked in between the only thing stopping her from joining West in the waves.
Ah, much better, she was closer to West level this way and hopefully it would be that much easier to aim. Only one way to see.
Of course she didn't expect to suddenly be splashed in the face by a wave, her grip slipping slightly and causing her shot to go wild.
Oops.
