Their turf? Oh no. Not good, not good at all. And hey had seen Amy. "Looks like something went down after I left," He whispered back. "That gang I told you about moved." Which meant they needed to get moving again, quick.
"Sorry, friend, I don't live in the city anymore and I was not aware of your new grounds. I was just showing my mate where I grew up, so if we can all be gentlemen here we'll be on our way-" Karo had made a move to slip him and Amy around the gang, but one of the goons cut him off.
"Not so fast, pal. You see, we came to greet the lady, and that's just what we're gonna do. If you got a problem with that, well..."
A deep growl rumbled out of Karoko's throat. "Stay away from my girl." He knew he'd catch it later for that and the 'mate' comment, but he knew that was the best angle to play. If they knew she was only a friend... Karo mentally shuddered.
((lol, planned on it, just didn't want that first post to be too long without letting Amy get in it~))

Amy lowered to the ground, tail flicking back and forth as Karoko and the males seemed to argue. Over what? Her? Her ears flicked, head raising when she heard the male's voices get closer and them cut her and Karoko off. She suddenly felt nervous, realizing this was not her home. She didn't know where to go, where to take Karoko, she was just a small blind vixen, surrounded by men she didn't know and only with a male she barely knew herself.
Barely knew.
That wasn't true, she knew Karoko. He hadn't left like Tabby and her ex. Yet. Her body lowered further, catching the "mate" and "my girl" part, blushing before she could stop herself. She knew it was just to throw the guys off, but why did she like those terms slightly?
"Looks like he wants a fight."
The males grew closer, one moving behind Karoko, snarling lowly. Before Amy could even say what she wanted to, which was "Get the hell away from us", he lunged straight for Karoko, while the other two moved to trip him.

oh no no. That was the last thing he wanted! Of course, he didn't get the chance to say it.
Quickly he pushed Amy flat to make her a smaller target and half-lunged at the snarling one behind him, his claws swiping air because he didn't want to move away from the vixen. The other two fell on him, and a flurry of snarls and teeth and claws broke out. Karo managed to rip a hole in one -perhaps his side?- but the other dang near took off his ear. The leader of sorts seemed to have disappeared. Not good not good not good.
By the time he heard a foxes bone snap, he was heaving and bloody, a paw shredded and his own side torn. Karo was also fairly sure he'd dislocated an ankle. It didn't take much for a third fox to distract him long enough for the leader to take him out.
His last thought as his body smacked against a manicured tree was a single word: Amy.

She heard the scrambling, smelled the fear. Amy was pushed down, and then Karoko ran off. The scents mingled, frightening her slightly. However, when she heard the crack of Karoko.
"Where are you? Karoko? Karoko?" She called out, stumbling a step forward.
"Dude, she's blind. Hey chica, come over here and talk~"
When the males grew closer she smelled them, and her fear rose, however, what escaped her was a low snarl. The blind vixen jerked her head to where she heard breathing, tail snapping out and wrapping around the males neck, forcing him to the ground. He managed to whip away. He came at her, dodging a kick she could hear whoosh by, she rose up as the kick went over her head, colliding into the under of the leg and sinking her teeth in, pulling at the skin.
The leader circled her, coming at her with a quick and heavy force. She dodged, lowered to the ground, and wrapped her tail around his ankle, pulling back in a different direction until she felt a snap and heard a loud cry.
"I may be blind and part of a tribe that does not believe in fighting, but there is always an exception. To fight one must be protecting, and I will never harm another unless they are hurting someone I care for. And if someone hurts them," Her blind eyes narrowed, a smile on her lips, sweet and innocent. "I will protect them with teeth and claw."

"Amy..." The word came out muffled by blood and hardly a whisper. Everything was fuzzy, but no longer could he feel pain. Vaguely, he could hear scuffling, a snap, a thud, a... snarl? A snarl. A cute snarl.
So not cool.
Amy was not supposed to be fighting. No way. Amy was a vixen. A vixen from a peaceful tribe, even! And he was a male! The male that should be fighting! What happened? Why couldn't his paw move? Why couldn't he move?
"You little brat!"
The leader spat furiously at the vixen who just snapped his ankle. How dare she! And what of his underling, the one who was now backing away?
"Get her! Don't you dare run!"
Too late, the last male standing took off after the others, leaving the leader lame and seething. With a muttered threat to make her pay, he clamored to his paws and scampered off with as much dignity as one could after having his paw broken by a blind girl.
Karoko had forced his eyes open to watch that last part, but now he let them fall shut. Ok. Amy was ok. Right? "Amy?" Slowly, he drug himself up and towards her. What was wrong with his paw? His side felt sticky, too. But Amy... "Amy... are you ok?" Weakly, the male nosed her side, relief flooding him as he smelled only his blood and not hers. How useless he had been...

Amy kept her stance, teeth bared as the men spoke. She could smell them, hear them, she didn't need to see. Once they ran off and Karoko spoke she relaxed, a worried smile on her face. "Karoko, are you okay?!" She squeaked, smelling his blood. Immediately she went to him, licking his wounds when she found them, and nuzzling his cheek once. Carefully, Amy moved him so he was sitting up, leaning against his side.
"I'm sorry I couldn't help earlier." She mewed, innocent once more. "I can take you to Yasashii.... if you tell me how to get out of the city...." She had decided she didn't like it here anymore, it was scary and her first experience they had been attacked. She wanted to go home. With Karoko. Unless he found something less frightening to do, but right now she hated the city.

"I'm... no, I don't think I am ok. I can't move my paw..." Karo practically whispered. Oh, how did he let this happen?
A sudden thought crossed his mind again. Where the heck were Reisa and Tweak?
As if on some kind of silent command, two voices filtered up the hill. They were bickering, a female at a male for being so slow and the male at the female for being so clumsy. Karoko laughed weakly. "Amy, darling, it looks like you can meet my city friends after all!" He laid his head over on Amy, watching the two figures move closer. He seen the moment Tweak smelled blood, the blue and white male froze, sniffed, and locked eyes on Karo.
"Oh, one more thing, in case I didn't mention, Tweak has a muscle issue. Ironically, he's a Shaman, too."
The twitching fox barreled toward the two, a sharp eye on the vixen holding up his friend. "What happened? Are -ear- you ok? Where are you -shoulder- hurt? And who -shoulder- is this?"
Karo tried his best to grin at his old friend, but seeing as he had coughed up blood a bit earlier it wasn't the desired sight. "Amy, she's the forest fox I was telling you about." Then he saw Reisa, limping a ways back. "What happened to her?"
"Ah." Tweak turned to Amy. "Nice to -ear- meet-cha." He began sniffing wounds, the ear would be fine, the side needed spider webs fast, and the paw was dislocated. Oh boy. "She tripped over a pine cone, the -tail- clutz. A PINE CONE!" He shook his head in exasperation, then turned back to Amy. "Ok, -ear- you're a healer, too, right? Do you -shoulder- wanna stop -tail- the bleeding or set the -hip- paw?

Startled, Amy's ears went back at the scent of two new people, baring her teeth. However, when the turned out to be friendly she relaxed, tail curled around Karoko. The one she heard twitching and smelled as male she assumed was Tweak, head tilting towards his direction.
"I am not a Shaman. As Shaman, they make medicines and apply them to the patient, then Carers work as cleaning the patient, feeding them, and other basic needs. As a Carer I naturally speed up healing by being in a Shaman's presence, but I do not heal." She mused lightly. Shamans were doctors, Carers nurses. She twitched her ear when she smelled the scent of a vixen, head tilting towards the scent.
She kept Karoko close to her, head lowering softly. Silently, she shuddered as tears rose. Ha, she didn't even use her eyes and she could cry....
"I'm sorry. This is all my fault. He is hurt because of me.... Please," She moved her head up. "Please take care of him! I... I should return home...I've caused enough troubles as it is."

"Nope." Karo gently latched onto Amy's tail. "You're not trouble, none of this is your fault, I'm the failure here!"
Tweak shook his head. "I agree. -ear- Karo is the male, the brute, the protector." This earned him a dirty look, but he ignored it. "Miss, -ear- I need you here. So there."
Karo continued to glare at Tweak, but spoke gently to Amy. "Amy, darling, you are the reason I'm like I am, yes. You're the reason those foxes didn't finish me off, you're the reason I'm still alive." He hated to say it, to admit it, to acknowledge aloud how pitiful he was. Four foxes... only four, and he couldn't keep them away from her. Maybe he shouldn't take her further. What if something else happened, what if he couldn't protect her again? As if to make things worse, an involuntary whimper escaped his throat.
Reisa limped up to the trio, instantly taking in the situation, but staying silent. She had no clue what she was in the middle of.

She blinked when she felt his paws on her tail, head tilting. Her eyes widened despite not being able to use them, her tears slowing. As he spoke she lowered her face, nails digging into the ground.
"I....really helped you?" She whispered, then suddenly whipped Tweak with her tail. The blind girl turned to face his voice, eyes narrowed. "Don't call Karoko a failure! He's a good man and I love that!" She snapped, cheeks suddenly blushing as she realized she had actually snapped at someone....
"O-Oh... I'm s-sorry!" Once again she stammered, head lowering. She could help Karoko by being here while he healed.... she could speed up his healing if she was there.

Tweak scowled a little at being tail-whipped, but let it slide since he figured it was a good way for the vixen to know where to snap. However, he walked off when she opened her mouth, though he heard everything she said, and now came back with spider webs around his paw. He put the webs on Karo's side, then grabbed Amy's paw and stuck it over the webs. "Press that -ear- there to stop the -tail- bleeding, both paws. Press -shoulder- hard, I'm counting on -shoulder- you to keep him -ear- still -ear-."
Reisa winced. That paw of Karo's was disloacted, which only meant one thing. Quickly, well, as quickly as she herself could limp, she fetched a stick and stuck it by the male's head. "Ok, all, lemmie know when he's up and walking. I'm going to make sure those others arn't rallying troops." With that, she bounded off, hurt paw tucked in so as not to hit the ground.
Karoko gritted his teeth when Amy's paw was roughly thrust against his side. Tweak was SO going to pay for this. A sudden thought crossed his mind. When that paw is snapped back into place, his tough male composure -what little was left- was going to go out the window, and the last thing he wanted was Amy to be there when it did. Oh damn. Nudging Amy closer to him so she could put her weight on the webs and nearly-stopped bleeding, he took the stick in his jaw, clenched his teeth, squeezed his eyes shut, and re-played the vixen's last line in his head. She said he's a good man... and she loves that about him~

Amy flicked her tail, blinking eyes that would never need to blink, and squeaked when she was made to touch Karoko's wound. She nodded silently, sitting beside the male. She heard movement, heard something being brushed against teeth and the third fox moving in a fashion that indicated a lame or hurt leg.
"Karoko." She knew he probably was nervous, even if he was a boy. "I'm here." She flicked her tail, found his, and laced hers around his, offering a smile to where he smelt.

Wait for it... There! At the exact moment Tweak saw Karo smile at his little girlfriend, he snapped his paw back in place -and quite loudly, enough to make even Tweak wince. "There, ya -ear- big baby." He gently nosed Amy's paws off the web and pulled it back. Beautiful. The bleeding had stopped and it was easy to see the long slashes under the dried blood. Three cheers for nearby water fountains!
Such a sweet voice... Karo smiled when Amy's tail wrapped comfortingly around his - and then quickly let out a string of words no vixen should ever hear between his clenched teeth. Holy mother of the Deities that hurt! While Tweak checked his side, all Karo could do was lay there and pant until the pain went away like the tide. Whew. He let out a few more cuss words, these more audible and less offensive to sweet ears and directed at his stupid paw for pulling that on him. As if it was his paws fault.
A few licks on his side proved the slashes were mostly healed. They seemed shallow, despite the amount of blood. Unlike his paw, these wounds still hurt. Still breathing a bit harder than normal, he draped his head over Amy's shoulder. "Thank you. Sorry you had to hear that... heh..." He flicked her nose with his tail tip playfully.

At the string of curses Amy's ear flicked, tail strengthening around his own. She heard the crack before-hand and had guessed what was happening, though she made it clear to not show discomfort at the males words. He was in pain, it was understandable .
When Tweak was done, the Carer smiled slightly to where she believed he was, head flicking when she head Karoko move, she stayed still when he rested his head around her shoulder, then flopped down onto her stomach.
"It's fine, I know it hurt a lot." She responded, ears going back as she whimpered slightly. "I wish I had helped earlier..."

Tweak grinned at the two. "Well now, -ear-, I think I shall let -shoulder- you two wash up and I'll -ear- probably see you around -ear- in the city?" Without waiting for a response, he trotted off, tail wagging and mind already thinking of the vendors he could raid on his way back to his tribe.
Well that did it. Karo took one of Amy's ears between his teeth and growled adoringly. "Now listen here, missy, because I'm only saying this one time. You kicked a**. You kept those guys from finishing me off. You stopped the bleeding faster than it would have on it's own just by staying beside me. You even eased the pain of the dislocated paw, I'd have screamed if you hadn't. Don't you ever, not for one single second, think that you are not a help. Got it?" Letting go of her ear he licked her fur back into place, draping his tail across hers. This girl needed to know how important she was, and that was that. <3
