Desmond immediately tensed when Mitsu brought the little girl back up. He had hoped it had flown over her head... Now he regretted mentioning it.
Drawing back his legs from the dash, his new position very closely resembled Mitsu's. Legs drawn into his chest arms immediately wrapping around them. It was something he'd resisted thinking about for a long time because of how long it had taken him to cope with in the first place.
"S-she was my first friend. I called her Rose because she wouldn't tell me her real name... And the day I met there were pretty pink rosebuds all over the area. Thinking back, I'm not sure where she lived... Because her clothes were usually kinda dirty... Never asked her about it though. And she never asked me about where I came from. We just... Played together. Every Thursday." Why it had been Thursday was always beyond him. That's just kinda how it happened.
"This lasted for about a year... Before I'd stumbled upon my parents. I'd been debating with myself on whether I should meet her the next day... Because I was so scared about saying something to her. But at the same time... I had to tell somebody. At that point, my parents hadn't introduced me to my cousin... So she was really all I had.."
And then... Silence. Desmond's eyes shifted to the last place he had seen his friend. His mind flashed back to that night... And his eyes looked as deep and watery as the sea.
"I... Don't remember much from that night. She was running up to greet me and something tripped her and then..."
And then...
At that point of reflection, Desmond recoiled, desperately wishing he wasn't there. His hands immediately covered his face to hide the shame and regret. He hadn't even had the guts to tell Klyde about it. "T-the next thing I remember is.. S-seeing her on the ground with closed eyes and a smile and.. having red smeared on my face."

The second Klyde got close enough to touch was the second Riyo unfolded and tightly wrapped her arms around him with enough force to knock the air out of a breathing creature. Her body shook, her eyes leaked, and her throat burned from what she'd just done.
"Anywhere." She whispered in a raspy voice through her tears, unwilling to let go of him should God or the devil step in at that moment. "Please..." Even a dumpster seemed like a better place to be than here right now. Though there was apparently no place she would find to get away from her past. How cruel.

Mitsu cringed, her eyes tearing up from the sadness she felt for Desmond. It was overwhelming to think of such a thing happening. In her own mind she could barely fathom it. She had never experienced anything outside of bullying in her own childhood. Growing up her brother had been rather lenient with her and continued to act more like a brother than a parent but she felt she had a fairly normal childhood despite that. Nothing.....deeply traumatic. Nothing like this.
Unable to find the words to express how sorry she was that she had even brought it up, Mitsu unwrapped herself to scoot over the gear shift into the seat beside Desmond. Thankfully being small she didn't need much room as she wrapped her arms around the vampire's neck to bring him close. Who knew Desmond had hidden so much pain under that confident exterior. It didn't seem to deter her that he basically just told her he had taken the little girl's life. At the moment he needed to be consoled. "I'm so sorry, Desmond."

Klyde looked down at Riyo sadly as she unwrapped herself to cling to him. With one arm wrapped around her shoulders the other hand stroked the back of her head as he held her close for a moment. He really felt like an a** for bringing her here. "I'm so sorry Riyo."
Slowly he leaned down a bit more to gather her up, almost like one would do with a child. Once she was gathered in his arms he headed out of the bathroom and down the hall intent on leaving.
"Klyde? What's wrong with Ms. Kitty?" Claire's voice seemed to come out of no where, though it sounded like she was worried.
"She's...not feeling well," Klyde figured he would spare her for the time being. "I'm going to take her home."
"Can I come?" She asked as she stepped up to grab onto his pants leg.
"I...I don't..." He shifted to look down at the small girl having a hard time telling her no. "Maybe it would be best if you stayed here..."

The contact he felt from Mitsu wasn't an immediate relief to Desmond, but it certainly helped to know that she wasn't appalled by what he had done. Slowly, the vampire uncurled from his little ball, wiping at his face before he brought a hand away. Had he been crying? Being a tough guy, he'd never say... But those hands immediately wrapped around Mitsu when they were done.
"Shh... You don't need to be sorry." In a strange way consoling other people was a way of consoling himself, he guessed. "I'm still waiting on some sort of apology from my parents... Because half of me wants to think that if I knew before... Then... Things wouldn't have happened like they did... But... There's no way to go back and change everything. And I guess the 'what if's' of the past just make things worse." Pressing a cheek against her head, he glanced back up at the starlit sky, nostalgia hitting hard tonight. "Thanks for listening to me Mitsu. I've needed that for awhile."

There was no fight from Riyo as Klyde scooped her into his arms, only adjusting herself slightly as her position changed. She knew Klyde felt bad... And a small part of her wanted to tell him not to be, but as they say, misery loves company.
At the sound of a familiar painfully cute voice, Riyo flinched. It wasn't Claire's fault either. She'd done what she thought was right... And while the girl saved her from one situation, it only opened a bigger can of worms.
In an almost vengeful way, Riyo wanted to tell Klyde to just put her down. that she could walk the hell back even though it was a good distance between the school and his house. Or hell, she'd hitch a ride if he didn't want to leave his sister alone... And she almost opened her mouth to do just that...
Luckily, her throat was sore enough to deter her from the thought. had she been in anything resembling a normal bad mood, the fact that Claire was just an adorable civilian caught in the dangerous crossfire would've easily helped her mull over the bad thoughts... But this wasn't just a bad mood. "Do what you want, Klyde." Riyo pushed out, burying her face in his shirt to hide it.

When Desmond wrapped his arms around her Mitsu settled in against him, her head resting on his shoulder. Her arms moved to wrap around his torso as best they could as they sat back in the seat. It was oddly comfortable being this close again, almost like nothing had really changed. "I wish I could do more than just listen." Mitsu said softly as she nuzzled against him. "I had no idea you were hiding so much pain. I really wish...I could make it better somehow." And she did, though she had no idea how she could do that. It wasn't like she could go into the past and change anything. As far as helping others went....she was rather useless. At least that was the growing feeling she had.

Klyde looked back to Riyo with furrowed brows before he turned back to Claire. He had chosen Claire over Riyo once before and while he felt he had done the only thing he could it didn't help the hurt he felt from making that choice. "Maybe....next time Claire."
Claire's eyes were suddenly very sad, Klyde never usually denied her anything. Holding her raccoon close she nodded her head. "Okay."
"We'll do something together when I get back.." He promised, taring his eyes away from the little girl before he caved in. With quicker steps than before he made his way outside to his car. Each step making him feel more and more like a b*****d.
As soon as he was outside and his car was in view, Klyde froze for a moment. His brothers had obviously made some quick work while he had been inside with their father because his car was covered with a number of things, all etched into the paint with either keys or nails.
With anger starting to touch his eyes, Klyde looked around but the Ferrari was already gone. Cursing lightly under his breath he headed toward his car, trying to ignore the finely etched out 'p***y Wagon' on the hood with a crude set of car ears and tail.
With a sigh he came to the passenger side of the car and set Riyo's feet down on the ground. He left his arm around her shoulders though as he leaned forward to open up the door and help set her inside. Once she was settled in he went around to the driver's side, only pausing in his path to fume over the new hood art he had. Getting in he started up the car, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.
"If I had any idea it would turn out like this...I never would have put you through it." Shifting the car into gear he started to drive. He didn't say a word about where they were going, he just drove.

Trying to relax as they settled into his driver seat, Desmond shifted to give Mitsu a little more room. "You know what you can do for me?" He asked, shifting a little to look down at her face. "Instead of being so concerned with what's happened, just... Be there for me in the future and here in the present. That's more than I could ask for in this lifetime." He'd already done his best to cope with the past. And, maybe it wasn't much of an improvement in the eyes of others, but it kept him going. "I want to make good memories that'll help the bad ones fade out. They'll probably never be gone, but at least I can turn to something positive and keep a smile on my face."
After a short moment of contemplation, his mind broke through the guilt and reminded him of the situation. He was alone with Mitsu.
"C-can I kiss you?" He asked out of the blue rather nervously, biting the inside of his lip and feeling like an idiot for just blurting that out.

Riyo didn't react when he (sorta) told his sister no. She had said he could do whatever he wanted... Though a little bit of her (okay, a lot) probably would've been upset if he had done otherwise.
The picasso work his brothers had done on the hood of his car didn't do much to lighten her mood, either. As far as bad days went, this was up there among the 'Did I die in my sleep and go to Hell?' kind of experiences.
When she was placed in the passenger seat, the feline immediately kicked off her shoes and curled up much like she had done in the bathroom, her head facing the window.
Listening to Klyde and thinking back to how the day had gone, her heart shriveled at a painful realization. "You know bad things are just gonna keep happening to you the longer you stick around." They just seemed to fall in place right in front of her path. No matter how many times she changed it or how many new people affected her.
Bad things just... Happened.
All the time.
"You can find a new girlfriend. You can't find a new sister or father." Her voice cracked at the end, immediately covering her face with her hands so she didn't stain the interior of his car. She was in a position that was insecure and replaceable to everyone she knew. No defining blood or irreplaceable bonds to hold her there. Just the fact that there was an impression made upon these people who enjoyed having her around because of whatever common ground they shared...

Mitsu smiled faintly nuzzling into the side of his neck. "I will be there as long as I'm able to be and for as long as you'll keep me." She just hoped she'd be able to stay with him for a long while...and not have that time cut short.
His question made Mitsu pull back slightly, tilting her head up to look at his face. Smiling softly she nodded leaning forward a little so Desmond wouldn't have to go so far.

"I know, but I can't just leave my sister all by herself as much as I would like to leave..." And then Riyo continued the realization of what she actually meant struck him. She meant....sticking around her. "Riyo.." With a frown he pulled off to the side of the road, it was no where close to any sort of resting stop but it would have to do. "None of this is your fault." He said gently putting the car into park so that he could reach over to touch her shoulder. She was curled up and facing away from him so it was hard to console in this position.
"I don't want a different girlfriend, even if it meant my life would be carefree and easy. I want to be with you because you're worth it to me. You don't treat me differently because of who or what I am and I couldn't honestly ask for anything more. I could care less about what my father says or does to me and while my sister is important to me....so are you." He squeezed her shoulder a little trying to pull her toward him. "No one can fill your place Riyo. No one can even compare."

Desmond's face almost immediately brightened at her words.. And a smile pushed through as his question was not met with a no. Lifting a hand, he pressed it to her cheek and closed the distance inbetween their lips. If it was a dream, he would rather stay asleep for the rest of his days than dare to open his eyes and find out that a moment of this was his imagination.
Pressing his lips firmly against hers, he took in her scent with a small shiver. God, it had been so long since they'd done this. Too long. "Mitsu.." He whispered as he pulled away from only a second, eyes closing as his tongue touched her lips with hopes to deepen the kiss.

Riyo's lip quivered as she listened to those beautiful words she had wanted to hear for a long time. That she was special... Irreplaceable even. It was hard to believe that he held her in such high regard after what she put him through sometimes. "K-klyde.." Her voice wasn't stable. It sounded like she'd start sobbing any moment. Slowly unwrapping herself, she crawled over to him and pressed her wet face into his shoulder, uncontrollable emotions making her body shake. "Y-you too Klyde. You too..." She tried to convey her mutual feelings in short words in an attempt to avoid the hysterical crying that was threatening to burst fourth from her throat. Even if his dad was going to hate her, she could put up with it... And if his brothers were going to fight her, she would fight right back. He was worth it. Every bit of it.

The feel of his cool hand against her cheek made her heart flutter in her chest as he closed the distance between them. As his lips touched her's Mitsu closed her eyes enjoying the feel. She only seemed to hesitate a little when his tongue touched her before she parted her mouth slightly to grant him access, her own tongue coming out to play. One arm wrapped around his torso firmly the other rested against his chest to give her better leverage, her fingers tracing along his collar bone and neck lightly.

When Riyo scooted over toward him Klyde was there to welcome her with open arms. Wrapping those arms around her as she pressed her red streaked face to his shoulder, he rested his cheek against the top of her head. "Shh, don't cry." He tried to say in his most soothing voice, though his throat was obviously a little sore. Holding her close he stroked her hair wishing he could ease the pain away.
"Hey...I know it hasn't been the greatest of days," Actually it had been downright shitty. "But let me make it up to you. What's something you've always wanted to do? Name it. Anything. No matter how silly you think it may be." Bringing up a hand he gently ran the back of his finger up her cheek to collect the red tears leaking from her eye. "I don't care what it is as long as I get to spend time with you."

The second Mitsu gave way to his silent request, Desmond didn't hesitate to let himself in. The contrast in their temperatures made it all the more intoxicating. He wanted to touch her. Caress her. Make her cry out in pleasure like he had before. Wanted it with both mind and body.
Pulling back slightly with a pant, his hand caressed her cheek, face full of contentment. "You're so beautiful." He leaned in and whispered in her ear, keeping her close with his other arm. Though... He came to a quiet realization that they obviously couldn't stay in this parking lot. The cold didn't bother him, but he wasn't sure what her tolerance of it was (if any). "Well, what would you like to do next?" He asked, the hand on her cheek moving back to play with her hair. "I could take you somewhere nice or we could go back and brave the mess that is my home... Or I could just take you back to the dorm..." He reluctantly threw that out there, holding back a cringe encase that was actually what she wanted.

Riyo's eyes closed as Klyde comforted her, obviously trying not to cry anymore. It was hard... But she managed to bring the tears to a halt.
When he suggested making it up to her, Riyo pulled back slightly to look at him. "You don't-" Have to? Of course he didn't... But he wanted to. Searching her mind for something, she sat quietly pondering his question.
"... The zoo." She said quietly at first, glancing away. "I... I've never been to the zoo before." For obvious reasons. Who the hell could've taken her?

Mitsu nearly gasped for air when Desmond pulled back but it was quickly followed by a soft whimper when he didn't continue. Smiling softly at his compliment she leaned into his hand as it ran across her cheek, she was still warm to the touch the cold hadn't yet settled in.
"I just want to stay with you," Mitsu said softly though after a moment she added. "I do feel a little bad that we left so abruptly."

"The zoo?" Klyde questioned before a small smile crossed his face. "If the zoo is where you want to go it's where I'll take you." Pressing a soft kiss to the side of her head he sat back in his seat and waited for her to get comfortable again before he shifted the car into gear and took off. He wanted to continue to apologize for everything that had happened, but he was afraid by doing so it would only open the wound a little wider. So instead he would seize this opportunity to let her do something she wanted.
It took them a while to get to the zoo, though Klyde seemed to be somewhat familiar with where it was. He parked his car in the back though, not to keep it from being damaged that had already happened, but to keep the fun phrases etched into it for the general view of others. "We only have a couple of hours before they close for the day but we can come again another day if you don't get to see everything you want to see." Apparently he was familiar with the schedule too, this was one of Claire's favorite places to come.

Pressing another kiss to her forehead at the whimper, Desmond sighed at the recollection of how dinner had went. "Don't. They're the one's who ruined dinner with the obviously inappropriate chat."
Reaching in his pocket, he pulled out his cellphone to look at the time. "I think we've given them enough time to realize they did something wrong." a quick finger pressed the button to send the roof up again. "We'll go back and if they don't apologize I'll take us somewhere else." though he was sure they would. The whole 'we don't have many guests' thing was a big deal for them, so they would probably suck up to Mitsu in a heartbeat.
Adding a couple more kisses to her forehead and cheeks, he smiled and adjusted himself. "Brace yourself for more awkward experiences."

Riyo's eyes were glued to the window during the trip there, a childish glow returning to them as they reached the destination. She'd never even seen the zoo up close. "T-that's fine." She replied quietly. How long could you look at caged animals anyways? Her mind was too frazzled out to ask the question of why he was so familiar with the zoo hours, but what she was focused on now was losing the huge black cloud that hung over her head.
Quietly, she stepped out of the car, purposefully not looking back at the graffiti to keep what little composure she had.

"Okay," Mitsu nodded tilting her head up as Desmond placed a few more kisses on her face. Those kisses just made her want to melt into him. It was difficult to actually pull away and get back in her seat so that he could drive. Being next to him, being close again, it was comforting. But somehow that feeling was coupled with a small ounce of guilt that Mitsu just couldn't understand. Was it because Shun made her feel the same way? Or was it because she knew the closer she got to Desmond....the more likely Shun would be hurt. She still wasn't one hundred percent sure because Shun never seemed to be able to decide how he felt but she was starting to think his like for her was at a higher level than just friend. There was a special place in her heart for the assassin, he obvious cared a lot about her, and she really did love him but she was starting to realize it was a different type of love.
Spaced out a little, Mitsu barely acknowledged the warning Desmond gave her. "O..okay." She smiled rather awkwardly remembering the conversation during dinner but she would do her best to grin and bare it.

Climbing out of the car as well Klyde reached out for Riyo's hand as they made their way to the counter to purchase tickets to get in. Once that was done he headed inside to only quickly retreat to the bathroom to get a wet towel for Riyo's face. His shirt was black so it hid her tears, but her face was still smeared a little with red. "Here," He said softly wiping at her face. He seemed to be in a much more nurturing mood than normal.

When Mitsu was safe back in her own seat, Desmond took the car out of park and headed back towards his home. With any luck his parents were less obnoxious than he thought and would realize how bad they'd made the situation.
When they pulled back into the garage, the vampire hesitantly put the car back in park and turned off the ignition, looking towards the door inside with a small dread. Hopefully Mitsu would take everything he told her in stride, because he was almost positive that they wouldn't try anything funny with her... But there was still 2% of him that said to be careful just encase.
Immediately getting out of the car, he opened the passenger door for Mitsu and lead her back inside.... And it looked like his parents had been waiting for them on the other side of the door.
"Hey there sport." Edmond said with a weak smile, receiving nothing but a glare from Desmond. "Your mother and I just wanted to apologize for running you two off."
Lily held about the same look as her husband. "Yes. We're sorry about that. You know-"
"I know." Desmond interrupted. "You don't get company often." It wasn't bitter sounding, but more like a frustrated parent trying to cope with their child's behavior.

Riyo had semi-wondered why the ticket lady had been staring at her so intently. As Klyde ran into the bathroom, Riyo stared that way only momentarily before she started looking around. She could see the cages from where she was and hear a couple of weird growls and sounds that made her think she was watching some kind of safari show.
When something wet touched her face, she snapped back to attention, looking at the towel, then up at Klyde. "I can do that myself..." She mumbled, a hint of red hitting her cheeks.. Though she didn't stop him.

Back at Desmond's home, Mitsu followed the vampire closely once she got out of the car. She was almost startled to find Desmond's parents on the other side of the door but she did her best to smile to reassure them she wasn't upset. They seemed sorry but Mitsu was also easily fooled.
"I..It's okay Mr. and Mrs. Vogel." Mitsu said softly taking Desmond's hand hoping he wouldn't be too upset on her account. "I'm just not....used to parents I guess."

Klyde smiled softly seeing he could still make her blush. "Sorry, I guess you can." But he didn't relinquish the wet towel but instead finished wiping down her face until it was clean of the red that stained it. "What would you like to see first?" He held out the map the ticket lady had handed him. It seemed like there was quite a lot to see and quite a lot of walking to see it all.

Desmond squeezed Mitsu's hand as it slipped into his, letting out an exasperated sigh to try and keep his cool.
Looked like the two elder vampires had easily earned the girl's forgiveness, though her last comment did seem to sadden both of them. "Well, you're more than welcome here any time you'd like." Lily assured Mitsu, a cheerful smile once again breaking through.
"Most certainly." Edmond followed up with his wife's comment.
Though Desmond wasn't so sure he'd want Mitsu visiting the folks without him around... Not that he thought it would be a problem. Mitsu probably wouldn't want to hang around them either. "Alright, well. I think we'll just head on back to my room then..." Desmond mumbled as an excuse to get away from the two. Not that they'd have to stay there. Just enough to lose his parent's attention.
"Awww, leaving us so soon? What're you two gonna do?" Desmond's mother seemed innocently curious... Though his father couldn't help but grin.
Seriously? "C'mon Mitsu." Before the awkward got started up again, the young vampire did his best to lead the girl away from the hole his parents were digging for the both of them.

Riyo hated being treated like a child. It drove her crazy because she had spent so much time taking care of herself that she never really got a chance to be carefree and irresponsible with herself...
But she supposed she could make some exceptions.
Immediately, her hands unfolded the map, glancing around at the different animals represented on it. "... I wanna see the lions." Riyo replied quickly in a meek, almost childish manner. It figured. "And the tigers..." Almost like a dream, she supposed. Yeah, she knew what the zoo was and what was in it... But actually being able to go was a different story.
Quietly, her hand took ahold of his, followed by a short squeeze. "Thanks... For this.."
