Joey was still rocked from the superkick when the triangle choke was applied. Joey gasped for air as he tried to find a way out of the hold.

Brandon wrenches it in, knowing that Joey passing out is just as convincing as a tapout. either way, he's not releasing the hold

Joey fought desperately to breathe as the hold was cinched in. Joey got to his knees and tried standing to turn the hold into a pin.

the jacknife pin counter to the triangle, popularized by kurt angle against the undertaker, is always effective
one....two.....t.....
Brandon releases the hold to kick out. he quickly rolls to his feet and waits for Joey to get up to kick him in the gut. if he hits, he'd attempt his Impaler DDT

Joey just laid on the mat to catch his breath and a recurring thought came to mind. "This Brandon guy is unleashing everything hes got! I need to be careful and not let my guard down" Joey got up and turned where he saw Brandon's foot come up and fearing it could be another superkick, he caught Brandon's leg and attempted a dragon screw leg whip.

well, brandon's plans to drop joey on his head definitely won't come true right now, as the dragon whip takes him to the mat

Brandon's leg is grabbed and he is locked into the STF, ironically another submission hold he's used frequently in the past

With the STF locked in, Joey tried applying as much pressure as he could by pulling back on Brandon's head and neck.

there are very few options on escape from this hold, the most obvious being to get to the ropes, which is going to take some serious upper body strength. but he has to try, so Brandon tries to use his right arm to pull them both to the ropes

With Brandon crawling to the ropes, Joey had another idea. He tried to transition the facelock into a crossface chickenwing to attempt the Deschlock(Stepover toehold crossface chickwing)).

Brandon gets just a second of very slight relief during the transition, which is just enough. He quickly attempts to throw his elbow back into joey's nose to attempt to get out of the hold
