Dakari groaned a little. "I don't even want to imagine how having kits would affect my dramatic mannerisms. Let's just say I wouldn't be the most nuturing of parents. It would give me excellent excuses to storm off and leave them to pounce all over you though," he mused, storing that as a later idea. It wasn't like he wouldn't like to be a dad one day, it was merely that he had a difficult time envisioning either him or Sitara as parents this early in their relationship. His mom would probably blow a brain fuse if he told her she was a grandma...
((You know it occurs to me, out of all of Aegle's children Dakari is the only one with a mate XD))

"They'd probably make you more dramatic. Although I was thinking more along the lines of keeping them entertained." Sitara replied. She nudged the smaller fox's side. "All I know about nurturing is what I got from 'Uncle' Kito. Bumbling through being parents happens to everyone I suppose." She frowned, hoping that was true and she didn't do something dumb like lose one of them or something.
That thought sent her into a slight panic. "Oh, no. You are not allowed to storm off and leave me alone with them, Dakari." She said before remembering that she didn't even have kits to lose yet. Sitara shook her head at her ridiculousness. "Actually, before we have kits...maybe we should go talk to someone who's raised them before?"

Dakari had been about to respond to Sitara's drama comment with a high falsetto and sarcasm, but her panic beat him to it. Not much really fazed him personally, and the thought of eventually kids wasn't an exception. Sure it sounded like it would be a major challenge, but he was confident in their ability to face it together.
Then Sitara made the comment about asking someone for advice and he snorted. "Who? Your father? I get the feeling he wouldn't have many words of wisdom. Your uncle maybe, but you'd have to ask yourself since he's part of Akatsuki." Dakari knew all too well what could happen to foxes who entered the territory of hostile tribes.
"My mom? She's out there somewhere with my step dad. I probably have a gaggle of half brothers and sisters already. Good luck finding 'em though, Mom's a wanderer and Leo's tribe dislikes outsiders about as much as your dad's tribe dislikes 'em." He would have tossed in a nonchallant shrug, but Sitara was still holding on to him and flying.

Sitara landed (finally since Zanshin's a nar nar) and let Dakari down. "Ah...no. Not Papa. His advice would probably be to give them to my Uncle. Papa was protective but nuturing...not so much. I could get to Uncle Kito, and even get him to the edge of the tribe lands if I have to." Sitara replied.
"What about Sin? He raised you, didn't he? He's gotta have some tips." She replied. Sitara didn't give a fig for what his step-father's tribe thought about outsiders. However, she still hadn't met Dakari's mother, and if she did have new kits...Sitara didn't think she'd welcome a strange 'Deava around them.

Dakari laughed. "Sin? Sin's not the nurturing type either. He'll teach you how to fight and protect you, but that's the extent of his fathering skills. I wouldn't say they raised me either, my mom stole me back around the time the tribe started falling apart when I was still a kit, and I was pretty much always on my own before that." Dakari had always been one for wandering off on his own.
He grumbled a little, kneading the ground. "My dad's out, never met him. Mom's the over-protective type, I get my temper from her. Apparently Grandpa is worse, but I've never met him. Leo's got about as much kid experience as I do." Dakari sighed. "Your uncle might be the best way to go."

"My mom might have been really helpful, but I haven't seen her in a long, long time. So I think you're right, Uncle Kito is probably our best bet." Sitara sighed. Both of their families were dysfunctional and out of control.
"However, we are nowhere near Akatsuki." Sitara pointed out. "And I'm pretty sure I can't fly the both of us to the edge of their territory in one day. Maybe halfway, rest for the night, and finish up tomorrow?" This was entirely too difficult. And on top of everything else....
Sitara glanced at Dakari and fidgeted. "My father...he rarely goes anywhere without Uncle Kito...and vice versa. Which means he'll probably show up too. And...I have no idea how he'll react to the whole 'mate' thing." Sitara figured she should at least give Dakari fair warning.

Dakari shrugged. "I'm used to stubborn parents and parent figures. Maybe it's not a smart reaction, but I'm not scared." He looked Sitara over, a hint of concern in his sky-blue eyes. "It's not like we've got to hurry though. Parenthood is still a distant future for us." Or at least that was how it should be, right? They'd only made the mating thing official today, for crying out loud!

"Yes, well. I'm pretty sure he wont hurt you. Not that I'd bloody let him, father or no." She growled to herself. "But where do you think I got my sarcasm? He's worse. Just fair warning. Uncle Kito is nice though, and he will probably keep Papa in check...sorta."
Sitara shook her head and gave Dakari a small smirk. "True, I'm very certain that we don't have kits yet. I just...I want to be a more nuturing parent than my father, who is also a 'Deava. I figure being prepared would be a good way to start." She pointed out. "Of course, you're right, we definitely don't have to go see them tomorrow."

Dakari smirked. "You know me, I do love a war of sarcasm. Hostility just makes it all the more amusing." Probably the reason he'd ended up mated to a Daeva. Well, 'ended up' made it sound bad; 'chose to mate with' sounded better in conversation.
"So when do you want to start the journey? No reason we can't begin wandering in that direction, even if walking takes a bit longer."

Sitara smiled down at him. "Yeah, that is true. And if he's openly hostile, that's probably best. Sometimes he's not so direct. Of course, maybe he'll just adore you, there's always that chance." The deava said dryly. She didn't particularly hold out much hope for that. Her Papa was nothing if not possessive and suspicious of those who may 'steal' his kids...and Uncle Kito, away from him.
"We could start moseying that way now if you want. Or we can leave tomorrow." Sitara shrugged and looked down at Dakari. "Whichever you prefer." She said, giving him a smile. She wouldn't mind leaving today. She hadn't seen her family for a while. Even with the upcoming confrontation, she still wanted to check in with her Papa. Still, it was already afternoon and tomorrow would be just fine too.

"Hmmm." Dakari's clear blue eyes took in the sky and the lake in front of them. "Perhaps start going in that general direction, but stop when we find a good place to sleep for the night? I don't fancy sleeping near the lake, what with the mist that comes off it in the morning. Has a way of making joints feel stiff."
Dakari made a face, aware that he probably sounded like he was griping like an old man. Still, seemed like a good arguement to him.

Sitara snickered. Dakari had just sounded like a greying elder. Not that she wanted to have to clean her fur of all the dew drops the mist left behind either. "Alright. A nice cave or protected hollow would be fine. And a deer for dinner." She said, giving Dakari a smirk. "You can just have a rabbit or two." she teased the smaller fox.

Dakari snorted. "You wait. If karma tips the scales in my favor and I get the deer while you just get some rabbits I might refuse to share, just for that lack of faith." That was probably a lie, since he certainly couldn't eat a whole deer by himself in one go. But he would make sure to tease Sitara with it for a bit first at least.

"Oh? Is that a challenge?" Sitara asked, tail swishing behind her. "Because I can definitely bring down a deer before you. And if you did all I gotta do is lean over you...and deer for me." She said, grinning at Dakari. She snickered a bit, knowing that it would never be that easy. Dakari was smaller than her, but not that small.
"However, if you share a rabbit, I'll share the deer." Sitara said in mock graciousness.

Dakari's eye sparkled with the challenge Sitara proposed. "You're on," he stated, and then darted into the trees. Sitara might have more on him in terms of weapons and strength, but Dakari was confident that his speed would win this game for him.
