Amaidi sighed and shook her head before changing the course very slightly at least it looked like it was only a slight change to the average traveler. amaidi knew that wasnt the case the new way was over a lot easier terrain and didnt end up with them having to take a large detour. Mercury had guessed one way but it was the extremely long way to her father's tribe.

"What is your father like?" Runaiu suddenly questioned Amaidi. Mercury himself didn't have a father, only a mother, and at times Runaiu felt guilty for this. He could have used a father, someone other than her to help raise him. She had tried her hardest to raise him well, though there were some things a mother could never teach her son that a father could. Then again, by the way things were looking out Mercury would never have a father. Runaiu... she was interested in a fox, but they were not male. They were female.

Mercury followed along ever so slightly behind his two greatest loves, listening. He wasn't really sure what to think when father's were mentioned. He'd never had one, but given his track-record with other males it seemed for the best. Thus far the only male Mercury knew who wasn't very mad at him for some reason or another was Amaidi's big brother Baki. Of course, Amaidi didn't know he knew Baki, they'd agreed to keep that a little secret until they'd met her father.
Sometimes Mercury wondered if Runaiu had found someone to play dad for him, would Mercury's track record with males have been better? Probably not. So he was quite content with how things had been, and continued silently pondering the mysteries that were fathers.

Amaidi let out a big breath and stopped to think about it. "Hmm well he is really knowledgeable about tracking and hunting and guy things like that, he seems to have this tough outer shell but he can also be compassionate towards others.
Although this is only the side he shows others when it comes to family especially mom's family he shies up a lot." amaidi stopped to giggle at this. "Um with us he likes to think things through. Well actually he tends to think a lot of things through before doing them. However when it comes to me He's very very over protective. He lost me once when I was still a bcr and I was carried around by a shaman vixen by the name of Aylin. In fact I was with her the first couple weeks I hatched out of the bcr before she hunted dad down to drop me off. So he's I guess really scared of letting his only daughter go." Amaidi tried explaining.

She nodded, it made sense. Losing a child must be scary. She could still remember the first day Mercury left her side to start his own life. She had been petrified, spending a long time wondering if her son would be safe, if he could survive. But that was planned. What if she had lost Mercury when he was little? If he just... vanished one day? She would lose everything. She didn't need him before, but after the long time she had traveled with him and slowly but surely adopted him into her life she had grown attached. And while some foxes would have grown a romantic interest once he had grown she wasn't one of them. She had seen him as a kit, and her mind had wanted to give him the love he never had from a mother. She could never and never would see him as any more than her baby.
So, when he had left she felt heartbroken, even though she knew that this was supposed to happen. Her only child, and probably would only ever be her only child because who in hell would have children with her? Runaiu was doomed to be alone her entire life.... She didn't know who would have babies with her, even though after raising Mercury she found herself wanting more.
Now there was Amaidi, and all she could do was support her son in his choice. Amaidi probably needed help talking to her father and Runaiu would gladly help. She was older than both of them, perhaps her father would react better if he saw a older fox with them?
"No matter how protective he is I'll try and help him accept your choice." Runaiu said to Amaidi, smiling at the female. Apparently she was slowly accepting the female and getting over her jealousy.

"Sounds like an adventure," came Mercury's cheerful voice from the back of the group. "Amaidi's dad might want some alone time with just the three of us or just her, but I'm sure we can manage some family time in there somewhere."
Mercury hoped they could all get along. He hadn't met many of them yet, but he understood that Momma had a pretty big family. From Amaidi's stories he knew her family was huge as well. The merging of two giant families was potential for some rough points.

Amaidi smiled and then her face dropped again getting a really weird tone. Dad got along her mother a lot better than most that had fallen under the weird water and wondered if mercury was in fact going to survive this meeting of the family. After all even if they got past her dad, if he told her mom's family. Ugh she remembered the conversation she had, had with her grandfather back when she was a kit. Well it wasn't like they had seen each other recently maybe her mom's family wouldn't find out after all they lived all the way over in lunarie lands.

Runaiu eyed the two, feeling a protective streak rush through her. Well, this would be a fun encounter. Parent against parents. She didn't have any else that could help her, she was in fact a single mother (for now), so she needed to be able to stick up for her daughter-in-law and her son by herself. However, anyone that knew Runaiu knew that she could care for herself. She may hate herself and wish she was beautiful, but her words could be sharp and her bite deadly.

Mercury shrugged, smiling and trying to be the positive one. "We'll just have to see how it goes! Maybe give me and you dad some alone time to get to know each other and you two can do that same. Parents seem a tad more reasonable when their children aren't directly within their sights."
Mercury was also hoping that he'd have as much luck with his father-in-law as he had with his brother-in-law, though both Amaidi and Baki seemed pretty adamant that Riku was going to take one of Mercury's legs off or something. Mercury didn't see why they all just couldn't get along, but then he also admited he wasn't a parent.

"nope... that would so not be a good idea. You've been traveling more with me lately and dad is an extremely good hunter. he taught Uncle Tokala every thing he knows and Tokala is the head hunter for the tribe he's in. So you'll smell like me and Dad's with daughters are a lot harder to become accepting that mom's with sons... not that mom's with sons love their children any less. Its just a daughter thing. It makes no sense" she shook her head but she knew that if she had a daughter she'd probably inherit some of her father's over protectiveness.

"Well of course we would introduce me to him together," Mercury protested. "Or perhaps it would be better to just let him think I know you, and then ease into the thing of mating so he doesn't get mad at me off the bat just for the sake of being....mad." You never knew, as long as Riku thought nothing was going on between his daughter and a male and got a chance to know Mercury before a snap judgement, things might just go over better.
Of course that could also massively backfire.... In which case it might be better to led Amaidi have a talk with her father on her own, with him just in the background as something to point and yell at.

Runaiu brushed against Mercury for support, watching the two speak. Runaiu decided to put her input in, tail flicking lightly. If Mercury went with Amaidi to speak to the father it would be smarter, for if this Riku person saw Mercury, heard about him, and then was told he was her mate he might feel angrier. Hiding Mercury may cause suspicion and further ill feelings towards the male.
"I believe Mercury should be introduced to your father first, not as a friend but not as a mate, not until your father gets to know Mercury better. Then announce him being your mate."

"The only problem then is that he would be hurt I hadnt introduced Mercury right away. This whole situation is bad no matter how you look at it. Protective parents are nice I guess when you are younger and you love them with everything you can but...." Amaidi sighed wondering why life had to be so much harder as a girl. Maybe she should have been bi or gay and gone for a girl. She wondered if her dad would have been better with that. Looking over at Mercury though she would find something that would work

"Sounds like we can't win for losing," Mercury said with a sigh. "Ah well. No point in worrying about it then until the day comes." After all if they only had one course of action they could follow then that was that and they'd just have to see how things panned out. Mercury could have quite a disarming attitude if he tried.

Amaidi nodded in agreement wishing her family didn’t have such a stubborn streak, however even the best predictions sometimes went wary and Mercury had a point. She would stand up for herself and make her father see she was going to make her own decisions, especially about her mate. She looked over towards Runaiu and Mercury before looking towards the direction Omaticiya. Well on towards the future right?
