Morin thought about it. There weren’t really exercises except for the occasional flying. Well he supposed to build up strength there was one way. He would have to modify it a bit because anila was hardly a kit.
“Well often we make sure a kit is comfortable with the idea of flying downwards first so we often branch young kits until we see their glide is good enough. I know of a place around here that might have strong enough branches for you to try on just so you know what type of tree to look for.

Anila sighed mentally. I suppose it’s true I’m worse off than a kit. I can’t believe Mr. Morin has to teach me the basics so that I can learn to fly. Still at least I’m going to be learning to fly. Then I’ll be able to show Marcus. Nodding Anila smiled. All right we can head to the tree, but when we land can we eat first or would that be a bad idea? Anila hadn’t eaten anything in quite some time and the whole purpose of the trip to the forest was for edible plants to go with the fish. Feeling her stomach protest at not being fed Anila really hoped Mr. Morin would say eating was o.k.

Morin calmly blinked seeing as Anila seemed to be down again. he didnt put it against her when Kaname was helping Morin learn how to fly he was just as patient and Morin had a new understanding of his cousin. It was that and he knew the frustration and doubt and disworth that ran in your head. “Yes eating is allowed. You don’t have to ask my permission. Flying takes a lot of strength and stamina and eating is a good way to keep your energy up. Plus I can show you the branching technique since the tree’s in the forest are big enough and strong enough to take our weight.

Alright. Anila was still somewhat disappointed in herself but the prospect of food made the situation seem much more bearable. Lead on to the tree then Mr. Morin. I’ll follow as quickly as I can. Her stomach complained again. Oh hush you! You’ll be fed soon enough. I should have eaten before I started traveling along the cliffs. I wonder what kind of trees Mr. Morin intends to have me jump out of. I hope he’ll give me a break to catch my breath before shoving me out.

Finally the group got to the little grove of trees. well little probably wouldnt be an accurate word. Tall and massive redwoods with deep and strong branches branched off and provided a place for shade. A cool breeze swept out and drifted through the trees. "alright we're here. I think we should probably eat first before we do anything else" Morin stated knowing that was what she probably most wanted to hear.

Anila landed with a loud thump on the branch. Her rump hurt now but there was little she could do about that. She was sore, tire, and hungry. When Morin said they could eat she could have kissed him. Instead she opted to stay a bit more reserved. She smiled at him. Sounds good to me. She furled up her wings and tried to look comfortable.

Morin added landing practice to his list of things to work on. It would definitely be a project but then again wasn't he just saying he was getting bored again. This would take up some time and he was sort of looking forward to it. Well it was only if Anila came back for some more practice, he might have pushed her too far today and she would have decided flying was too much effort. "I thought you might like that plan" he smiled.

Definitely. Anila grinned even wider at Morin’s comment. He seemed to be able to read her well. She was nervous enough about flying and didn’t need hunger pains to be added to her plate of distresses. She was still sore and tired but the prospect of food being forthcoming brightened her mood considerably. Anila looked around at her surroundings carefully.

He knew his fish back at the beach had mostly likely been discovered by another preditor and looked over in the direction of the river he knew this forest housed. "well I will go get us some new fish and you can be in charge of getting the herbs" He pointed out and began the techique known as branching where he leaped off one branch and glided down to another catching it with his claws. he continued the process until he was finally on the ground.

Anila watched Morin glide from branch to branch with ease. A slight jealously pang rang through her; however it was overridden by the hope of being able to do that on day. For now she grasped the thick of the tree bark with her nails and ‘slid’ down the tree by slowly easing the pressure she applied with her front and hind legs and crawled down the tree trunk to a lower branch. From there she wiggled out to a spot where she could jump from one branch to another and continue down the tree trunks that way. Soon she found herself in a Madrone tree. She ransacked the berries of the tree and dropped to the forest floor with a grunt from the tree’s lowest branch to scout for some more herbs and edible plants.
(she might not fly but she is a persistent Phim.)

Since the forest was so thick once you ventured into it Morin knew fishing was out of the question. Of course there also went his main way of fishing. As soon as he got to the river. He looked down at the fish swimming right under the surface almost taunting him. With a small 'tch' sound he thought of just how he was going to get his prize. Getting as close as he could he sat on his hind legs watching the fish when one got to close he instantly snapped his jaws into the water hoping he was faster than the fish. Eventually this proved to be the case and he added to his fishing pile. He had caught four but they where small enough that two each would be a decent meal. Gathering the fish up again he made his way back to where he hoped Anila was.

Anila was sitting on the ground below what as best she could figure was the tree she had first landed on when she got to the forest. She stared at the old bark with what was as close to hatred as she could muster. She had cupped her wings and had them full of madrone berries and some trillium she had found. It was impossible to climb back up the tree with her wings like that, and she could climb and carry the plants in her front paws. So she sat in front of the tree glaring at it for a time then slowly began to pace around it hoping Mr. Morin would come back soon and have some way to help her. I don’t know what to do. What if he doesn’t see me down here? What am I going to do? Stupid, stupid tree.

Morin watched in a slight amused manner from a small distance behind her on the forest floor. During his walk back it had occurred to him Anila might be stuck on the bottom if she ever decided to get herbs from the bottom of the forest floor. He made a slight noise to alert her of his presence before walking over to deposite the fish at the bottom of the tree. "I figured you might be down here. Getting back up a redwood is a bit tedious if you arent used to flying" Morin pointed out now that the fish where out of his mouth.

Anila blushed furiously. Its true she had wanted Mr. Morin to come down and help her but with him actually down, well it was embarrassing to not be able to get up the tree. So I’ve noticed. Thank you for coming down since I couldn’t get. For a little bit there I was wondering if you wouldn’t notice me and I’d up up stuck down her alone. Anila tried to laugh at her thoughts it came out weak. Ah well Anyways I found some berries and some herbs. Anila gave Morin a look that begged for him to say it was ok to dig in and that she didn’t have to climb the stupid tree to eat.

"No you never have to worry about that. Its my job to read people and react accordingly so my tribe never has to worry about being in danger." Morin pointed out. "since most plants grow on the ground you'd obviously have to come down to get them and then carrying both them and trying to climb a tree is a bit tedious. Plus its just occasionally nice to walk to places. I can fly when ever I want but each has its own special advantages" Morin tried to explain.
