6. What is the love story behind St. Valentines Day?
uhh...
" Valentine was a priest who served during the reign of Emperor Claudius II, in Rome. Claudius felt single men made better soldiers than those with wives and children, so he outlawed marriage for young Roman men (pool of soldiers for the Empire).
Valentine thought Claudius’ decree was unjust and performed secret marriages for young lovers, until he was discovered and Claudius ordered his death. While in prison, he fell in love with his jailor’s daughter and sent her a love letter just before his execution signed “from your Valentine.” I think.
