Kayou giggled to herself at the bird's antics, but she's learned something valuable. That particular species is easily startled and disoriented....and stupid. Easy prey.
She looked over at the thing, then padded over, poking his laughing form with a paw lightly.

Iro squirmed as he was poked, laughter slowly dwindling down to a rough gasp. Quickly he sat up, cleared his throat and tried to look dignified. That hadn't just happened. Regardless, now the bird was gone. Where had it gone to? For a moment he considered following, but decided against it. He peered over to Kayou, grinning. What now?

Kayou looked at the thing, then sat down on her haunches. She pondered, then spoke softly.
"Watashi no namae Kayou desu. O-namae wa nan desu ka?"
She waited patiently for his response, wondering if he could understand her.

Oh, this was a phrase from the human contraption they had watched. Quickly he attempted to recall the answer, and sputtered out, "Hajimemashite. Watashi no namae Iro desu." Hopefully that was right, or at least close enough for her to understand.

Kayou blinked. He spoke the words...but not the right way. She shrugged a little, smiling at Iro.
"Hajimemashite. dōzo yoroshiku. O-genki desu ka?"
She was attempting to tease both himself and herself into a deeper conversation, seeing if either of them could get past the basics and into much more complex discussion.

Now his memories grew more fuzzy, and it was difficult to remember what the proper response was. Regardless, he managed to stutter out, "Genki desu. Doko kara desu ka?" Had she always lived here? It seemed a foregone conclusion, but Iro felt that it was polite to ask.

Kayou pondered for a moment, then nodded her head a little.
"Hai.Anatawa?"
She blinked suddenly as her stomach rumbled loudly, then smiled sheepishly.
"Onaka ga suki masita."
Kayou stood up, stretching slowly before looking about, wondering what to do for food. There were always her supplies of dried stuff, but they wouldn't last forever after all.

"Ie, watashi wa arano ga kuru." Truth was, he had lived in a home, with a human. That wasn't exactly something you wanted to say to some of the dusts, though. Well, that and he didn't know how to say it. Hearing the fox's stomach rumble, he peered up into the trees. No birds around - they'd long been scared off by the commotion with...whatever that thing was. Did foxes like fish? Were there fish in the spring from earlier? Iro waited, watching her, unsure of what to do.
