xXHopless RomanceXx Metheshrew Emperor Angelo XXV Metheshrew What I don't understand is why homosexuals can't get married because of the fact that they can't concieve a child together, but it's okay if an infertile couple can get married. Is being infertile immoral? Let me answer your question with one of mine. What is the definition of marriage?Oh no. Not the "Marriage is a union between a man and a woman" thing again. rolleyes Meanings change. Times change. And to not allow two people to get married because society is hung up on a "definition" is just plain wrong in my opinion. Wasn't there a time when marriage was defined as "a union between a male and a female of the same race"? Like Metheshrew said, TIMES CHANGE! And no, homosexuality has nothing to do with the enviornment they're raised in. It's rare to see a child that was adopted by a gay couple that ends up being gay. There's an entire episode of "True Life" about children raised by gay parents, I recomend you watch it. The anti-miscegenation laws are an idiotic attempt by the state at changing the meaning of marriage. It uses the idiotic notion of a superior race.
Note: Anti-miscegenation laws mean that it is unlawful to marry someone outside of your own race.
It has a lot of things to do with it. I've seen that episode, and I agree with you there. However, it doesn't have be with gay parents. Many of those that I have interviewed had a history of family problems.

There are many theories about her action.I believe that according to Mormon customs 10% of your income must go to charity or a donatable cause. Which explains giving money in the first place. As far as the reason why she choose Prop 8 I believe it's fairly obvious that it had something to do with her views on same-sex unions.

Wait, where is the proof about her views on same-sex marriage? The books are neutral about homosexuality to begin with; thus we can ascertain if she is homophobic or not. Also, I have not encountered any statements from her about supporting nor attacking homosexuality.

If she gave money to an organization that is fighting to ban gay marriage chances are she's none a huge fan of same-sex relationships.

However, she could have been doing that also to get support from her fellow Mormons. Since mainstream Mormons are against same-sex "marriage", then it would benefit her if she joined the bandwagon. There is a debatable extent as to how much she supports Prop 8 due to a lack of evidence.

I agree that it's fine that people don't support gay marriage. But making it illegal is a violation of our religious rights. I pointed out earlier about this, and I can't stand how much people make a big deal about it. It's not hurting anyone, and it's none of our bussiness who others want to get married to. It's a violation of privacy, and religion. At least you can no longer get arrested for being gay.
I also get terribly annoyed by those who say they're ok with people being gay, they just don't think they should get married. Obviously those people do have a problem.
And I agree that Stephenie Meyer is probably donating to get more people on her side. What a spazz.

I remember saying something like that in the first page of this thread.
In reality, it is another attempt at redefining the meaning of marriage.

This comes as no surprise because really, the Twilight books themselves promote the Mormon viewpoint on relationships, marriage, happiness, etc etc.

In reality, it is another attempt at redefining the meaning of marriage.I wonder if the people who support the idea of same-sex couples not being considered married also support a similar law that existed 50+ years ago that said the same thing about interracial couples (They could be "together" but weren't allowed to get married). That issue was ten times more unpopular in it's day than gay marriage is right now. Ah humanity. I love how dim witted we can be.

The last attempt by the state to redefine the definition and therefore meaning of marriage before Judge Walker's overruling of a democratic referendum on same-sex marriage were the anti-miscegenation laws.
Sadly, humanity is in a downward spiral.
