I heard that once there was this car company, I believe it was Chevy, that exported its automobiles to Mexico. One of the makes was called "NOVA". And in Spanish, "no va" means "it doesn't go". lol (I'm not sure if I remembered that right, but it' close. xp )

Water_Tigris Its aweful, weird and funny at the same time. neutral I hate it when companies don't research the product name. Does anyone know another example of this? I have another, and I'm pretty sure its true 'cause I heard it from a reliable source. Okay, when Coca Cola first dayviewed in India, they made the cans and bottles white. Months went by and no one was buying. Why? Because in India white is the color of death. So the company found this out and changed it immediately. I can't believe that would happen! >.< In China, they couldn't figure out why nobody was buying Coca Cola, but then they realised that their translation of the Coca Cola slogan was off; they were saying "Coca Cola will bring your ancestors back from the dead!" Also, a car company was having trying to sell a car entitled a 'Nova' in Spain. No va. Who would buy a car that doesn't go? rofl

My parents gave me the name Thao, which means obedience, I think, in Vietnamese. It actually has a hooked accent above the "a". It's quite a common Vietnamese name really. When I was learning chinese I was called "Mali" which is a direct translation of Mary.

Does anyone know another example of this? there was an asian car company (i think it was mitsubishi) they made a big car (a SUV i think) and wanted a spanish sounding name for it. And they came up with Pajero!!! (which means wanker in spanish)...... they're sold with a different name in europe, but we found one on cyprus and since then with my spanish friends we always scream "pajero cabron!!!" when we see a mitsubishi....

My real name is Jerica which my parents made by mixing the names of my cousin Eric and my aunt Jesse. In Japanese it would be Jierika, but i use Urameshi Herumouni most of the time which I westerninzed for my screen name. (I'm thinking of changing it though.)

My mother's maiden name is Impastato, which is a great little Italian name.
I could have been Dave Impastato! How cool is that?
I'm kinda mad at my dad for marrying her and messing it up. xp
