Remaining strong as she waited patiently for her mate to help her, she was relieved when he hurried over and took the tarp from her to continue to tie it. Watching in her admiring curiosity she folded her paws infront of her and stepped aside when she was no longer needed. "I'm glad....Nothing like trying to get this hair back in shape after its been soaked...." The vixen chuckled, "Perhaps some heavy stones or driving a stick into the ground would help?" She offered, but nodded; yes, they had to get cooking if they wanted to eat!

Following behind in once more she took the basket she'd brought and set it back down by where Jerome was making the fire. She watched in astonishment as he struck up the blaze with flint rocks, as a huge smile stretched across her face. "Wow! Is there anything you can't do, Jerome?" It seemed he was just full of surprises, even if it was second nature to him she'd seen nothing like it. Quickly pulling out the plate topped with a mass of skewers, she removed the wrapping and took out the folded sticks used to hang them over the fire. After folding them out and securing them into place, she drove the stick into the ground and locked in the skewer to the pole so they began to cook over the fire. After setting up all five of the sticks and watched as they began to cook; she settled beside him and popped a cube of cheese in her mouth. "Shouldn't be long now....we'll probably get them all cooked just in time!"

Looking back to her after he ensured the fire's survival from the now picking up wind, he nodded. "I think that bush in front might do good. I'll just need to find a sturdy branch on it" he beamed as he watched her prepare the little bits of food on a shish ka bob. He shifted his weight to plop down on his rear, and sat cross legged. "There's plenty I can't do. Just nothing that would fall under Survival tactics" he chuckled, putting an arm around her shoulders as she sat nearby

He looked up at the fast approaching storm. Flashes of lightning illuminated the valley below and although it was still a few miles away, it was still throwing around ominous vibes. "I have a strange feeling that we will be watched tonight" he said while giving the sky a leery look

Folding her ears back comfortably as the vixen found her body leaning against the sturdy frame of her lovers; it wasn't until now that she noticed how comfortably she fit with her head resting along his bicep when she tilted just a tad. It gave a wonderful flow of confidence that she did fit, even if it was a foolish notion....just to feel some sort of unity when otherwise she was just dwarfed by his presence.

Reaching out she turned the sticks in the ground to make sure they would be cooked before nestling back into him; following his gaze out to the approaching storm. However, what he said bothered her as she looked up confused. "What do you mean, watching us?"

He couldn't help but notice how she snuggled into him. Where he wearing something other than his armor, he would have felt her warmth, but it was still comforting to at least know she was right beside him. He smiled a bit while she tended to the food and made herself comfortable once more, but his gaze soon returned to the clouds, where the lighting flashes made a small shadow only visible to his eagle like vision.

"This storm is not naturally made. It's still just a storm, but there's more to it than water vapor and hot air. Something made this storm and whatever it is, it's watching....I think." he said returning with his normal sheepish grin. He could have been wrong about everything he said, but he was sure of his words

"....Made?" What on earth was he talking about...she knew it was unlike him to spout nonsense on her...but his words just seemed so far fetched. "Storms can't be made, can they? Why would someone want to make a storm just for the heck of it....and if its just a storm how can it watch us?" Obviously confused and a little frightened about it all, she almost didn't catch the fire crackle more than it should have; only smelling the faint scent of burning.

"Ah! Kuso!" She hissed and sat up quickly, taking out the tongs and snatching off the first five skewers with only a bit of black on one of them. "Ah...that was close!" She mused, wasting no time in grabbing five more and popping them into their holders to begin their cooking time. With plate in paw, she took one of the skewers and held it up to him with a loving smile. "Hope you like 'em! We best eat while we can near the fire."

His ears perked at her silence, but before he could say much more, he heard the sizzle and pop of food being burned. Before he could say anything Koyuki was already up and serving the small meals. "Wow that was fast" he said with a grin on his face, taking one of the skewers delicately, biting off one of the small squares of food

"Mmmmm..delicious. I forgot that you cook like an angel" he managed to say through a mouthful of food. It wasn't long until he had carefully savored all of the delicately cut pieces of food on the skewer, sighing heavenly

"Its why I packed them! Skewers don't take long at all, and luckily I did too..." Beaming rather proudly, she settled back and took small bites of her own skewer after setting down the plate. She was thankful she looked up the best spices for the skewers and had written it down in her book, and of course that Trovalius could get her any spice she liked for a price.

Blushing softly she took another bite and curled her tail around her hips which it sat between them. "Always the flatterer..." She commented softly, before shooting him a upward glance. "Do you really miss being here...rather than serving or doing something akin to your old job? I know it must feel good to have something to do again..."

Finishing his chewing from his first skewer, he reached for another, but was asked a question which made him freeze and look to her with a confused look. "Well..I do miss what I do....and I'd give this place up to go back to it." he paused and nodded, before getting a smile. "But I wouldn't leave without taking you with me" he nodded again, then sat back, deciding to let her have another one before he helped himself

"And if you'd rather stay here, then I would to" he said puffing out his chest and smiling deviously. Flattery was all he had left, but at least his words were 100% turthful

Koyuki wasn't sure if there was a moment in her memories where her heart had cracked faster than it was when she heard the first of what he had to say. Immediately her heart became heavy as she stopped eating for a moment. Of course he would go back, it was his life for so long...biting her lip, her ears gave a light twitch as he continued....and in but another fleeting moment she could have found herself flying high.

"I...." The vixen choked out slightly, quickly clearing her voice. "I'm always....so afraid, afraid you will go...and never come back. Its foolish to think that way...but I can't say it doesn't cross my mind now and again. It was easier the first time I was left all alone; but when you have nothing you don't ache...where as...now...." She trailed, already feeling the brimming of tears in the corner of her eyes. Giving her head a shake she sat up and began to turn the rest of the skewers once more to busy herself; hiding her face with a simple dip of her head. "Although it warms my heart to hear that....if you could take all of us I would go in a heartbeat...anywhere with you."

He studied her carefully. Seeing her heart strings being tugged at hurt him a little, but knowing it was just his flattery hitting home, he felt a little bit better. "Come here" he said opening his arms up and patting his lap.

"If you want to come with me, You can. But...I want you safe.." he nodded making sure not to let her eyes out of his sight. "So if you still want to join me, you will get armor" he mused and cautioned at the same time. He would die if he saw anything happen to her.

Turning her head slightly at his beckoning once she had finished turning the poles, the vixen turned her body almost hesitantly...but pushed it aside and in a fluid movement dropped to her knees on the ground and wrapped her arms around his neck since she could almost match his height in this seated position of his. Nestling her face into the crook of his neck, she let out a small sigh and nodded.

"I know....I don't want anything to happen to me either which would hurt you too......I wish...I was stronger so I can do something about my own safety and accompany you without being such a hindrance, even with magical armor." It was the only strain of being so romantically involved with a spartan, was no matter how much she tried to forget...there was no way for her to even try to ensure his safety; let alone her own.

Wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin delicately on her head, he stared off to the valley ahead and listened to her words, feeling the wind pick up a bit more and the lightning and thunder intensify as it drew closer.

"There's nothing out there that could touch you anyway, and even if there was, I know no other armor that couldn't protect you other than the one made from a knight. You'd be safer than I would in it....I think" he was a little vague on the offer from a very long time ago...and he also wasn't sure if the dark knight was just bragging or if he was serious. It was hard to tell

A small shiver ran down her spine as the distant roar of the thunder vibrated through her frame. While storms didn't bother the vixen, she had never actually ventured outside during one, nor been up in hilly places. Koyuki was thankful Jerome was with her, and how his embrace gave her strength not to flee home at the first sign of such a brewing cell.

"Would it?" She breathed against his neck, perfectly content to keep her head there. "Is it because Knights are supposed to protect the weak that it has that effect?" Well aware Jerome was anything but weak, it did make sense; at least in her mind and the knowledge of medieval tales. However, since the storm wasn't getting any farther away she did release his neck and sunk down into his lap; reaching to take a skewer for them both and held it up to him. "We best hurry then, love." She smiled, "...So do help yourself!"

He was happy he could have a nice hold on her. It was comforting and relaxing to him. "Knights are bound to protect. And the armor would be coming from a knight, so it would be made to protect you at all costs. Much better than this stuff" he beamed as he knocked on his chest plate.

Noticing her weight shift, he looked down and saw she had taken more of the food and offered it to him. "Lets get in the tent. That storm will be here any minute, and I still need to tie the front down so it won't blow around." he explained as he released his gentle grip, and waited to stand. He already had an idea, he would just need to find a good rock that would help. "Take the food in there, then help me find a nice big rock" he asked in a more serious tone. It wasn't because he was angry..he just needed to get down to business and he needed to do it fast

Smiling with a gentle nod, she thought it was such a classic and lovely bit of information if it wasn't coming from someone who required a price for the service.

"Oh! Sure!" Koyuki took the hint and quickly stood, testing out the final skewers to see that they were ready and removed them as well as the poles; neatly putting them on the plate and into the basket. Picking up the basket she wasted no time in tottering it over to the safety of the shelter and set it out of the way. Heading back out she looked around, swearing she'd seen a rock on the way up. "What are we going to do about the fire? Let the rain take care of it?" She asked absently before walking to the trail which they came and peeked through the foliage on the side to spot what she had seen. "Jerome! Will this do?" She beckoned him over with a paw, pointing to the decent sized boulder, not overly big but she was sure she could even pick it up if she didn't mind straining her back.
