Aurora immediately felt that she could trust the mermaids--well, merman and mermaid, technically--as they spoke. They seemed so kind, so genuine; they couldn't wish to harm her or her companions. Altan said to her, Do not be so rash. We do not know if they have hidden agendas. Despite how steadily he appeared on the outside, though, Aurora could tell he was faltering. He knew that mermaids were meant to be entrancing, and even with his mental preparations he wasn't quite as wary as he usually would be of two disguised people.
Aurora waited, though, for someone else to speak. Neither she nor Altan were leaders, though they couldn't quite be counted as followers, and as such, they did not wish to make the decision for everyone. However, Aurora was more waiting to see if she would say goodbye to some than to see her own decision made for her. She would follow the mermaids regardless.
