Damnit, Damnit....I don't know how much longer I can keep this up! She thought as her breath kept catching shorter and shorter into her throat. As she felt she was about to give up and try and take them on, a loud voice rang true behind her; twisting to take a look before stumbling headfirst into a bush. "Ugh what the hell!" She snarled and thrashed her way out of the bush, hearing cries of pain and sickning sounds of death from the path behind her.
What's going on...? Nariko thought as she finally crawled out from the branches and stood; nearly choking on her own saliva when she saw none other than Dutch and the one rabid pack of grunts. "Oh you have to be kidding me..." She muttered under her breath, the gods sure were cruel, just like he said. For a moment she debated just running and sparing herself from humiliation and a more than likely ensuing verbal spat.
...Yet that just wouldn't do, as already her mother's firm word rang like alarms in her head.
Slowly coming around the bush and back up the path to where Dutch was relishing in his victory; her head dropped as she stared at the ground, still not beliving she was doing this. "I....I guess I owe you a big one....So thanks." She didn't need to say life, but probably would have denied it either way.

Kicking the dead grunt after sheathing his knife, he heard the voice and whipped around. "You have got to be..." he would have finished his sentence, but he noticed her demeanor and raised an eyebrow. He took off his helmet showing he obviously hasn't shaved at all and he was clearly dirty. He could care less at the moment, but he knew it would bother him later on.
"Thanks? I appreciate that, but I killed these guys because they pissed me off...You can keep your 'IOU" crap" he scoffed lightly as he turned and headed through the brush through his very visible makeshift camp of a log to sit on, a small fire and what appeared to be sticks slammed into the ground then covered with leaves to make a lean to. It wasn't pretty, but it was enough to get by

'IOU crap? Ugh....' She thought with a roll of her eyes as he turned around and headed back to wherever the hell he popped out of in the first place. Perhaps she could have taken this as the chance to take her leave and go, probably save her sanity while she was at it...but life wasn't easly like that. Neither was her consious.
Following him back without a word, she paused a few meters away from his 'camp' and raised a brow....had he really been living here like this for the week she'd been gone? A part of her knew he'd blow off any suggestiong of finding a more suitable place to spend long term....but hey; he'd probably been doing this kind of thing for a long time. Who was she to argue. (For once)
Stepping forth into the clearing but keeping to the side as to not intrude, she looked around once more to spot the bits of what she could only assume was his food. "Was....that your lunch?"

He looked over, surprised she followed. He half expected her to make some wise a** comment, but to his relief she kept her mouth shut, at least until she asked about the remains of his lunch. "Yeah...was" he remarked as he sat down on the log. He didn't want to go into how long it took him just to find that amount of food. Instead he sat there and let out an exasperated sigh.
For a moment he sat there staring at the coals of the fire he had lite the night before. While he did so, the gears were turning in his head. More plans to catch more food. His rations ran out a few days on the scout mission. He would have discarded the armor, but like full spartan armor, it was impossible to remove alone.
He murmured to himself and went through the things he could do to catch food. "I could go down to the lake and try fishing. although the fish there are too strong for make shift poles. I don't want to resort in stealing food..but......." it then occurred to him that troubling vixen was still present and more than likely could have heard him

"I see..." Nariko gulped a smidgen, knowing it was in relevance her fault that he had lost his lunch to a stray blast from those creep grunts. She had to admit that his living situation looked dire, a sad state from when she'd met him a week prior....she probably wouldn't understand; actually, she was sure she wouldn't. Nariko enjoyed her comforts, and at least a non leaking roof was one of them.
Yet indeed...she heard him loud and clear.
"You don't...have food? I mean, obviously not now but....you mean you have nothing to eat right now?" The surprise in her voice was obvious, her ears folded back as already ideas began to form in her mind...but none she was sure wouldn't earn a 'I don't need your chairty crap!' or other likewise senarios.
"....I have a fishing pole....I haven't used it since I was doing field exercises for weeks on end? I'd....be....happy if it was put to some use..." Come on you idiot...at least let me do this for you... She thought. "And don't worry about any IOU crap...it won't count."

He knew speaking out loud was a bad idea, but he had been full of them lately. Trying to get a snake, which bit his foot and the wound was still in bad shape because he had run out of medical supplies from when he had to ditch his pack. It was just one big chain mess that he'd rather not think about, but now she was offering a pole.
He was partially hesitant to take the offer, but his stomach was growling so loud that it could easily be heard for several feet. He let his head drop as it was such bad timing now. "Fine" he sighed in exasperation followed by cursing his stomach out for giving in so quickly. He made sure to give it a hard glare before it growled back and he stood up, swaggering a bit as he felt the bite on his ankle chafe against his boots. "Let's go" he remarked dryly, obviously not happy that he had to accept help from this person

Almost waiting for the barrage of reasons why he would be unable to accept the pole for blah blah blah and such; a shocked expression crossed her face for a moment. Really? Just like that? Almost not really knowing what to do with herself, she was snapped back into function when he seemed to growl at his stomach and then get up...poorly mind you. Glancing down to his foot which he seemed to step lightly with, giving him a swagger in his step.
"...Alright. Its back where we first ran into each other..." She admitted, as much as she was pleased to be giving away her secret location...she could always dig out another hideway; the exercise would be fun. Turning she began to walk, obviously slowly as she glanced back at him a few times. "You going to make it there, buddy? Or should I just run ahead myself..."
What a mess. It was hard for her to believe from the glorified visions in her head that this was what the outcome of these 'helljumpers' down in the field. Did their missions last this long? Even though she figured he was a hell of a long way from home....even this seemed a bit, sloppy, in a way. Perhaps the team was needed more than he let on afterall?

He got off to a wobbly few steps as the infected mess throbbed lightly, but after the first few reassuring steps he was walking normally and without pain, even though he knew that not only would it come back to bite him later, but it would only make it worse, not like he could care.
"I'm fine your majesty" he remarked with a growl behind his already gruff voice. "Let's get a move on!" He was hungry now..not 20 minutes from now...not tomorrow. Now. If there was a promise of a tool to get him food, then he would rather get it quickly so he can get food sooner. Plus it would save some of his embarrassment of having to rely on an outsider's offerings.
He waited for her to start running as she was sure to start doing, but seeing as she was taking her time, he started jogging. "I don't have all day" he reminded her harshly

"Majesty...." Nariko frowned as she snapped her gaze back to Dutch in time for him to zip by her already in a jog. What an a**! Here she was trying to help, AGAIN, and all he could do was get snippy and rude about it. She hoped he would be cursed to not catch any fish for a while to smarten him up; but had no time to dwell as she huffed.
"You wanna play commander? Fine then, I hope you can keep up." She sneered back, flicking her tail once before taking off in a run; not a sprint or she assumed she would lose him for sure. Hurdling over rocks and leaping off trees which had fallen on a slant she found her original jogging path and kept going as she didn't miss a beat step wise.
Glancing behind to make sure he was indeed keeping up she leapt onto a lower branch of a pine, looking ahead to see her tree on the plateau. "C'mon ODST, almost there!" She hollared, dropping from the tree and jogging the rest of the way to the tree.

He scoffed as she once again got prissy with him, but as she took off running, he couldn't help but crack a smile. "Bout time you shut up and showed me what you can do" he mused as he took off at a running pace. Granted yes he was just a human, and granted it took a full run to keep up with he jogging, but he clearly wasn't impressed. Knowing she'd get pissy at him, he kept his mouth shut. For once
The jumping over things was much harder on him. His armor was heavy and the landing was murder on his foot. At one point when she jumped a pine he jumped it as well, cleared it, but landed wrong and came crashing to the ground, only stopping after tumbling forward a few feet. He shook it off, and scrabbled to get up, feeling the intense burn of the snake bite starting to sink in, but he wouldn't be caught in weakness. He kept running anyway, still keeping his mouth shut

Teach you to think you can be a lippy a**... Nariko thought with a sense of justified spite as she reached the tree in no time at all. Barely winded in the slightest she rounded the back of the tree and crouched near the base as she looked between the few uplifted roots. "Where are you..." She spoke softly, before wiggling one of the larger ones with sucsess.
Pulling it up slowly the end of the root lifted from the small latch's hole as she was able to bend it quite easily to hook on a nearby root; thus allowing full access to the dirt patch. Brushing the dirt aside revealed a wooden plank, and after she had hooked her paw in the hole she lifted up to a decent sized room underneith with dug in steps along the wall like a ladder. Scaling down as she had done for months now she turned on a battery powered lantern to illuminate the single room. It had a curved ledge which looked like a lounger, often where Nariko would spend her nights when she got sick of the household. On one wall was different texts and books she managed to compile, the other housed wooden stakes used as hooks to hold tools like an axe, the fishing pole, a bucket, a shovel and other smaller tools. The smaller; final wall had some non perishable snacks, and a few sealed items from her most recent trip.
Standing on the ledge she looked about on a higher shelf; pushing aside unlabled cans and jars. "Do you want any live bait? I have plenty of flies and hooks; but whatever you think will work best for that rod." She called, not really paying attention wether he followed her down or not.

Finally thinking he would have caught up to her by now, he noticed that she had all but vanished from his line of sight. "Wha-" he looked around trying to find where she had gone to. Slightly lost, he sat down on a tree stump and took off his left boot, wincing as he felt the leather brush past his swollen ankle.
"Ugh" he grimaced as he saw the deep red wound had opened from the running. "I don't know where you are..but...Do you have any medical supplies?" he shouted as he looked up, hoping she was nearby or at least within ear shot

Catching the sounds muffled by the depth of the hole, she realized he didn't manage to keep up as well as she hoped; but did manage to catch medical supplies loud and clear. "Ugh, you dope." She muttered to herself, probably had made it worse from being a jerk and egging her to run. Fishing around in her bunker she pulled out a medical kit; nothing fancy or advanced but it would just have to do. It had antibacterial, gauze, needle and thread and a few other useful tools that she'd long forgotten was in there. Snatching the tackle box and fishing rod and some chips she climbed out the bunker and shut the plank for the time being.
Rounding the tree she spotted him close by on the stump and walked over; setting down the rod and tacklebox together before she was left with the chips and medical kit. It was then she looked down at his ankle, or moreso the bulbus lump which was his ankle. "What the hell is that, a bite?" It caught her by surprised as she set down the pack and bag; tilting her head to get a good look at the infection. It was just too big to be a rolled ankle or something.

He saw the vixen appear from virtually no where and was surprised to see primitive medical box. It would have to do he thought with a frown on his face. He waited for her to hand him the kit
"Yes. Snake bite. Don't know what kind, but it wasn't an ordinary snake..but I guess not too venomous." he shrugged as he got his knife out. He wasn't going to like what he had to do next, but being a bit of a medic, he was well trained in this sort of thing. He just never had to do it on himself. "Go get a small, but thick stick and get the gauss ready" he said. He would have done this earlier before, but were he to make a mistake, there would be no one to help...even though he wasn't too convinced she would help him much either

Sliding the kit between the two so they could both easily reach, she nodded her head sternly. Luckily she wasn't squeamish, or well she would have had a hard time with the career she dreamed of having. "I wish I knew more about the poisonous creatures around here..." Nariko breathed mostly to herself before standing and looking around; walking over to the tree to reach up and pull one off the branch. It was stiff but strong enough not to break.
Returning to his side she sat on her knees and retreived the gauze and some rubbing alcohol from the case. She looked to his wound before back up at him; an odd looking concern fighting to stay off her face. "Just....be careful." Was all she said before concentrating; not going to miss a beat just incase it meant the difference between his survival and death.
