Azzo shrugged, "writing is writing." He said with a chuckle, agreeing with Melody's father.
He tilted his head, "Oh what languages do you know?" He was directing it at Melody though that's not to say he didn't want to learn them himself.
Azzo paused when they got into why Mel's mother married her father. Blinking thinking for a second, he shook his head, "I think I like the cooking reason myself." He said softly scratching behind Merlin's ear.
He chuckled, "Nothing wrong with an overactive imagination."

Melody whined, wishing she could claw her eyes out and be rid of the image she had seen. "Except when one simple action causes you to see your parents going at it like a couple of rabbits." Eye bleach. She was going to need lots of it.
But eventually it faded enough to where she could respond to the question involving languages, her father still laughing in the background. "I know English, obviously, though perhaps it should be called more American then English...." A shake of her head to cut herself off from babbling. "Vietnamese and Mandarin Chinese, as well. Next year I hope to pick up French and either Latin or Spanish."

Azzo visibly twitched. "I think... I didn't need to know that either Mel." He said wrinkling his nose.
He pondered, "French could be nice." He said as the white pup rolled over on his stomach. "It's suppose to be one of those poetic languages isn't it?"

She stuck her tongue out at him, arms crossed over her chest. "Shouldn't have said anything about it then." But if he looked closely the corners of her lips were twitching, trying not to smile.
Alex nodded, finally managing to control his laughter. "Yes, you're correct. French; Spanish; Latin and, I believe, Italian. I could be wrong though."

"All I said is that I liked the cooking reason. Didn't mean I wanted to know what they do in their free time." He jerked his head over at Alex.
He paused and added, "Sorry." As if he might've offended the older man.
He paused at the conformation of the language bit. "I'd try a new language, but I think I should actually get past saying your dad's real name right first." He directed towards Melody.
He also had an after thought looking at Alex, "What sort of things do you write?"

Melody laughed. "Chinese is one of the harder languages to learn, if you aren't raised learning it. Even harder then Japanese, or so I've heard. So you might want to start off with something easier."
"I actually work for one of the local newspapers, though sometimes more then one depending on what kind of article they need. Primarily I write about nature."

Azzo paused tilting his head, "Oh well. I know both of you! You can help right?" He said with a smile looking between Melody and her father. Even if he'd be able to learn just enough to say hello and Alex's name in Chinese he'd be happy.
His eyes stopped on Alex. "Oh, I think Grams reads those columns. She keeps a few butterfly bushes and things around." He paused, "She likes to keep the house 'looking nice' from the outside."

"We'd be glad to, though saying hello is one of the easier things to say." A giggle and she moved to pack up her empty bento box and pick up her garbage.
"Does she? How nice, I don't think I really know any one who's read my articles." He flushed just a bit. "Though that butterfly bush one is one of my older ones I think."
"I'm excited about your new one," Melody replied as she joined them again. "I can't wait to see your article on Cherry Blossoms~"

Azzo grinned, "Good. Gramps always said it was good to learn something new." He gave a soft nod. Which was probably true, and most stuff school taught you seemed very repetitive.
Azzo nodded, "She reads just about all the gardening articles, looking for tips and just places to go. I think she likes gardening sometimes as much as she likes cooking. But she can't garden much anymore, it's too hard on her back." He gave a soft frown.
He looked over at Melody with a brow lofted, "Sooooo.... I'm going to guess you like Cherry Blossoms?" He ventured in one of those, nothing ventured nothing gained, tones.

"That's sad to hear. Maybe I can come out one day and give her a hand," he offered, stretching a moment before reaching for some juice himself.
A faint flush. "Yea, I've always loved them cause of Gran. She used to have some really gorgeous ones as I was growing up." But as of late she'd taken more and more interest in them, almost inherently.

Azzo nodded, "She'd like that. Normally she'd get me to do it, but she's been kinda worried since I had broke ribs that I'd some how mange to re-break them even though they're fully healed." He rolled his eyes and shook his head.
He seemed thoughtful. "Well it's the small things that keep us connected to the ones we love." He said after a bit before stretching Merlin was starting to get restless. "What's the matter Mer?" He asked scratching behind the pup's ear again.

"Ah, the love of an over protective grandparent." Alex chuckled to himself, packing away the rest of what his daughter hadn't. "Next free time I get I'll come out and help."
Melody made a face at him, cheeks burning. Oh if only he knew how connected to Cherry Blossoms she was... When he spoke to his dog, however, she turned to glance at him, then smiled. "I think your pup has had a full day, Pup."

Azzo nodded, "Yeah over protective." He chuckled, "I'm all she has since the rest of my family is overseas." He gave a nod, "That works."
He chuckled at Melody, with a shake of his head. "Apparently he has. He probably wants to go nap." Azzo scratched behind Mer's ear.

"That's all right," Melody smiled as she moved to stand so she could stretch. "I have some homework to do still. And Monroe wants to take me shopping, though lord only knows why."
Then, almost as an after thought, she playfully glared at him. "You probably have homework you need to get done as well, Pup."

Azzo made a face at the word homework. "Ugh don't remind me..."
He sighed, "It's bad enough to get the reminder from grams."
He stood up grabbing what things of his were out. "I guess I'll see you guys later?" He paused, "Thank you Alex for the food." He smiled as Merlin was trying to drag him along. Though the pup wasn't big enough.
