Azuran watched in awe as the bronze emerged from it's egg. He was certainly a handsome dragon. But why is he not going anywhere? the teen wondered to himself, mildly perplexed by this odd turn of events. And why is that queen still prowling the Sands? Shouldn't they be looking for Theirs? Perhaps they were simply waiting for more of their siblings to emerge first; it still didn't make much sense though.

Excitement grew in Zeren's chest as he watched one of the larger eggs crack and slowly revealed a Brown....no .. Bronze dragonet. He was pleased a Metallic had hatched and it seemed to be a decent size for a Bronze too. In the corner of his eye he saw the Gold wandering around and he prayed she'd find Hers soon, losing a hatchling between would be bad enough, but for a little Queen it would be a big blow to the Weyr. It was the he noticed that the Bronze hadn't moved from his place and he seriously worried about whether Theirs were in the grounds at all. His heart beat so fast in his chest worrying about the Dragonets.

So that was Ther's girl, huh? Pretty indeed; but Lothan had little attention for any other human right now. He stood as quietly as he could, watching as the shells cracked and the young dragons found Theirs. The blues' fight made him sway forward a little, then back; they'd hurt themselves -- but no, Feynath wouldn't let her children injure each other.
The little gold's entrance into the world made his breath catch. Beautiful and commanding, and he thought sure that she'd cross the sands and pick Hers out, certain and quick. But instead, she wandered around the sands, attention apparently on her siblings. Lothan made himself breathe. The young queen would Impress. Of course she would. She just had a mind of her own.
As the boldly marked green took her time, leisurely, on the boys' side of the line, he watched anxiously. Surely not - but - if ... He breathed a sigh of relief and disappointment mixed as she moved on and chose, abandoning her teasing to pick her rider.

Three more dragons had chosen somebody other than her, and with the hatching of the half and half egg, she knew that there was another that never would. True it probably wouldn't have even if it had turned out to be brown but there at least would have been hope...
Odd.
Neither the queen nor the bronze seemed as if they were about to choose. Kleos frowned, shifting her feet awkwardly on the hot sands. At least neither looked panicked, she supposed, but it was still odd... Wasn't it? This was the first hatching she'd seen, but other people seemed to be bemused or worried as well.
Quietly willing the pair to find Theirs quickly, Kleos glanced around at the remaining eggs. Fewer and fewer chances. She didn't want to leave the sands alone...

With the worrisome behavior of the gold and bronze, yet another egg popped and a boldly coloured blue slipped from the Inner Light egg to sort of stand on the Sands. He tilted his head this way and that, peering first at the girls then at the boys, meeting their eyes but never lingering. Where was His? His was there… but His could come here… if he saw His.
Flaring his little wings, the blue rumbled and toddled first one way then another, indecisive.

And making a rather abrupt exit from the green egg came a blue. Unlike the gold and bronze, this male actually seemed to be looking for his. It appeared he was having some trouble though. Who is His? he wondered to himself, watching as the dragon wandered about indecisively. I hope he finds his match quickly.

Alurel watched the new dragons carefully and considered what he had felt of their personalities before hand. He couldn't imagine either going between because surely there were good choices in the bunch. He had his own doubts about impressing a bronze however, there were other kids that surely could match up. Even among the girls there had to be someone suitable. Well, at least he could hope for that.
Maybe they were just taking their time...that had happened before in other hatchings. Although why wait, he didn't know. But as he considered the idea carefully, maybe there were multiple candidates that could be worthy? Maybe that was the wait, the dragon trying to decide. It would explain a lot, however, he wouldn't ask question of these ideas to any particular person since really no one on the grounds would be able to give him a real answer anyway. He doubted anyone really knew. But that made the question all the more curiouser as he continued to intently watch the eggs and dragons surrounding.
Then a blue popped out and seemed taken with the idea of also lingering back in wait. It was a definite change of pace from the first bunch that seemed so certain of their selections.

Rhilira watched as every settled down at the gold's command. She would certainly be a good queen, if they already listened to her when they were all distracted with other things. The two blues Impressed rather quickly when it all came down to it, and she mentally wished them luck when dealing with the two. They would probably end up loving or hating each other, when it all came down to it...
The green meandered, and she watched it curiously. It was always exciting, to see who dragonets Impressed, but it always made it more fun when they took longer to decide and find theirs.
Clearly the gold didn't share her opinion, and seemed to be hurrying the green along as she dawdled among the boys. When she finally moved over to the girls, and she realized that she was looking the dragonet square in the eyes.
They're all so slow, aren't they, Mine? Your Galianth cannot wait to play your games but she is so hungry. Let's eat!
Rhilira looked around a moment, and received a nudge in the legs as Galianth returned to all fours and headbutted her gently to get her moving along. Galianth was Hers! She rested her hand gently on the dragonets head as they walked over to the food tables together. Her excitement showed all over her face - she couldn't keep herself from smiling for once. But shards, she was with her very own dragonet! "Here," she said, grabbing a hunk of raw meat and offering it to her. Galianth accepted it and sat, chewing it thoughtfully as she watched over the hatching.

Therion felt the warm hand in his and only masked his surprise because he heard Inaari's soft voice; he gave her hand a gentle squeeze but beyond flashing her a grin, the blond mostly had eyes only for the hatching dragons.
So many quirky dragonets from this batch! He had watched each beast with a strange mix of desire and dread - would one of the bulky, un-graceful creatures be for him? When it became apparent that neither the bronze nor the golden queen were going to find Theirs quickly, he couldn't help some nervous fidgeting. Was the bronze for him? Wouldn't he know? And if it wasn't...

Wykla nods as the queen takes control and orders the three to disperse. She watches as the two blues head off and find Theirs. It looked like the green was going to be choosy about the whole thing. And what of the queen herself? Wouldn't she choose? That poor Teal Swirl egg, though, everyone wanted it to behave.
Oh! That green was coming towards the girls, no it wasn't for her after all. Wykla fidgets a little on the hot sand. She was starting to get worried about the gold, when a brown... no it was a bronze hatched. She glances towards the boys and wonders who the lucky rider will be. That is if the bronze would design to move.
Turning her attention from the stubborn gold and bronze, she sees another blue has hatched. Oh, he looked like he was searching. That was all to the good. Her eyes turn back towards the unhatched eggs. Who would be next?

There... The blues parted and went their separate ways as soon as the gold took charge. Good girl - all dragons would obey a gold, and they would all need to learn to defer to her as a potential future Weyrwoman. Besides that, a proper leader should defuse fights. Soldekai didn't really think the two blues would have caused each other any grave injuries, but there was always the chance. All ended well, it seemed. He wasn't sure how he felt about her turning the Teal Swirl egg back over... There was a line between stopping arguments and being bossy, wasn't there? But oh well. Her rider would just have to hold her in line.
When the blue and the bronze hatched, his heart leaped in his throat. A blue... That could be his, right? He didn't really see himself as a bronzerider, but at the same time, he appreciated how this newly hatched bronze took the time to acknowledge his sibling. The Royal Bands egg had seemed like it had such promise, when he touched it on the sands... If only he'd had a little more time to spend with those two. But no use complaining over spilled klah. The bronze would find a fine rider, for sure. And the blue... Well, maybe the blue would look his way?

Ashmere stand on the stands, her composer was once again mild and very ladylike, for the most part of the eve she had been paying such close attention to the little dragonets that she really didn't much pay attention to the sleepy faced candidates. It was only after scanning the faces a few times that she saw her Safira, instantly a light flush rose up her neck and cheeks. The little redhead was a candidate, how amazing that must be!
Grinning softly the brown haired harper stared down at the sands and hoped that her little Safira would merit a dragon, she wanted the girl to never feel alone for the rest of her turns, her Safira deserved that.
Shaking her head slightly Ashmere caught sight as a large bronze cracked from his shell and greeted the sands, the little metallic didn't seem to be in a hurry to find his partner. This hatching was truly turning into quite the event.

The appearance of the Queen on the sands startled Arelly into paying attention to her rather than watching the rather noisy larger eggs begin their hatching. Soon enough, the two blues and the green were broken up, and the girl felt a small wave of relief wash over her. Good! No need for brawling when there are Yours to fi-
.. And in thinking so, the girl was nearly bowled over by one of the two, the darker of the blues. She toppled over and hit her bottom on the ground as the blue dragonet looked her square in the face.
MINE! That stupid Easath says I cannot go just anywhere! Your Fanth is ANGRY and HUNGRY! Feed me!
As she looked in fondness and surprise at this angry dragonet, Arelly felt a warmth growing within her chest. Fanth certainly had a tenacity to rival her own. She liked that. The blue was already off of her and moving towards the food, looking back once with a pushy glare to make sure she was following.
Mine! Hurry up!
Alright, already! She was on her feet immediately and at her dragon's side, her soon to be partner in crime. She patted the small angry thing on the head and when Fanth's red eyes met hers, she gave him a wide, cheeky smile. Some meat might fix that sour mood of yours a little! As they approached the table side by side, Arelly had a fleeting thought, which she posed to her dragon with a mischievous grin. What d'you think about me shortening my name, Fanth? Let's help them remember us even more!

Safira watched as both blues Impressed other riders and tried so hard not to feel disappointed. Letting her eyes scan the stands again as more dragonets hatched, she caught sight of a very familiar face, her cheeks flushing both from embarrassment and gladness. Ashmere was here, and she was watching! The red head smiled back at her friend before tearing her eyes away to pay more attention to the dragons, the gold and bronze darlings slow to choose their riders. Another blue had tumbled from his egg, and Safira felt another flare of hope. She could not help but have an attraction to the coolly colored creatures, though she knew that as soon as her dragon chose her, the color would not matter one bit.
Beginning to feel a bit impatient, nervous, and afraid all at once, Safira fidgeted on the sands, tugging at her braid with one hand.

Mercy watched as the eggs left unhatched started to dwindle. Things were happening fast now, and even as the blues and green left the sands three more remained who had yet to choose. Of the three she only had the chance at two but Mercy clung fiercely to the hope that one of the remaining eggs - or hatchlings still wandering about the sand would choose her. Some of the candidates still unchosen were becoming increasingly disheartened she could see it on their faces as they eyed the eggs, mentally counting their chances no doubt.
Well Mercy was determined not to give in to the doubt even if it was starting to color the edges of her mind just a little bit. If her Dragon wasn't out there this time - perhaps it would be next time, or even the time after. Of course she secretly hoped that she wouldn't have to wait that long but staying positive and confident about getting a dragon seemed like the best way to go at the moment.
The gold and the bronze were being slow to choose but the two spatting blues and their goading sister had taken a while too right? So they probably just had their own reasons for waiting. After the little queen had stopped her siblings behavior maybe they just wished to ensure no one else started such nonsense.
