Arcanas what about it? You've got a manga profile and an anime profile. Can't base an opinion on those, since as time goes on, you'll see that as the anime catches up to where the manga is at, you'll see less and less of a difference between the two. nintendo says ash is based off red~!!!!!!!!!! FINE IM MAKING A CHART~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ash and Red are essentially the same character. Just like Blue(Green) is Gary's counterpart, Dawn is Dawn's, May's is May's, Lyra's is Lyra's.
In the game Red has every pokemon Ash has obtained. (except some actually evolve)
They're the same dude.

Tentae Ash and Red are essentially the same character. Just like Blue(Green) is Gary's counterpart, Dawn is Dawn's, May's is May's, Lyra's is Lyra's. In the game Red has every pokemon Ash has obtained. (except some actually evolve) They're the same dude. no there not but i can dig up things where they say ash is based off red

Exactly, Ash is based off of Red.
So they're technically the same. We're supposed to play Red's role so of course his personality and captured pokemon are different. And the Manga is made by a different guy and manga's usually have more detail than anime.. But what it boils down to is Ash's counterpart is Red. And vice versa.

Arcanas now, that's fine and all, but are they official statements? do you know how hard itll be to find an official statement..... but can why ignore the fact that the game came first then the manga then the anime..... its been watered down 3 times???? where is the loyality to the game.?????? but how bout the fact that the maker of ash and the maker of red are DIFFERENT people.......isnt this little fact imporant in its self why would someone change it from red to satoshi,(ash)???? dont need to find a quote to have the hunch that they defintly wanted them to be different.....>,<

It doesn't matter which came first, they are based off the same person. For a character to be so similar, one would logically be based off the other.
Long story short: Same dude.

For me, Red=Ash, and Bue=Gary.

As much as I want to stay out of this (I hate fights and I have lack of proof) but I'll put in what I know. Ash is based off of Red(I remember reading it a long time ago). The video game first so Red came first. Does it truly matter how alike or not alike they are?

All I want to do is play the game, build a team and battle people. xd Edit: Also forgot trading, thats probably what you'll catch me doing 95% of the time on Wifi. 3nodding
