Wasn't it her job to help others? Wasn't that her purpose in life? When she heard wings she hadn't known it wasn't simply another spirit. When the voice and a nudge alerted her she opened black eyes, glancing upward at the fox. She had known there were fox's with wings, and yet had never seen one before. However now was not the time to gawk, she could marvel at them later.

"I...yes. Please. I'm...sorry." Her breath came out tired and faint, desperate to either drink, eat, or just go to sleep for a long time. She was a trusting fox, and doubted the other would bring harm to her. She had no concept of danger, having not be exposed to it much.

Furii chuckled noncommittally--it wasn't her choice whether or not this became a Tribe, not this time. But it seemed that Conundrum wasn't sure himself, even if he'd claimed the land.

Shaking her head to clear it as two or three foxes appeared from the desert, Furii looked back at Suna.

"It would appear so," Furii said with a faint amused smile. "There were never this many with Khur, were there?" Furii chuckled and laid down easily, her eyes studying each of the foxes before her curiously.

"Welcome," Conundrum said to all of the new foxes. He waffled for a few moments, then added, "You should know that you are tredding on Tribe lands, but please--do not feel as though you are not welcome. Eat, drink, stay in the shade until you are rested, for as long as you like. We wouldn't want anyone dying on our watch," Conny continued with a chuckle, snugging his bushy tail around himself.

He was suddenly glad that Helios had stumbled upon their little--er, large-- group, because Conundrum had heard the thump as well, but he wasn't sure if it would have been proper for him to take off running at every noise.

As it was, Conundrum nodded to Helios, then watched as he took flight. He looked rather regal, didn't he?

"May I ask you your names?" Conundrum said a few moments later, addressing the new foxes in the group.

Rei looked up to see the oddly patterned male in front of her speaking. She had noticed the other vixens beside her but didn't take notice of everyone in total. She looked him over and bowed her head in respect. "Rei, I'm ex-Kana." He voice carried no emotion too it.

She added the last part since many people saw the Kana tattoo and immediately thought she was out to get them. However she saw it was interesting to have a tribe in the middle of the desert even though she didn't show it.

She did however look around at the Osis, here eyes wanted to know badly. She however shocked it off. "Is their anywhere else in the desert other then this...place?" She asked with the same tone as before.

Helios smiled faintly when the female responded to him. She was talking, so that a good sign she could recover. The Modiphim looked up and gauged the distance back to the oasis. They weren't that far off, which was a relief--he had never flown with someone else on him before, and he wasn't keen to see if it could be done under these circumstances.

"There's an oasis not far from here," he explained as he bent down his head to start lifting the small fox onto him. "I'm going to take you there." After a moment the vixen was across his shoulders; it wasn't exactly comfortable for him, and probably not her either, but it would get them back them out of the heat faster than trying to make her walk along.

Helios started walking--short and choppy at first because of the strange weight on his back, before he eventually became adjusted-- and it wasn't long before he had the black and gray female at the water side. A good thing too, because Helios wasn't sure she could manage the heat for much longer.

The winged fox popped stiff joints, then started using a paw to splash small amounts of water on the female to help her cool off so she could find the energy to drink.

"I don't know," Conundrum answered in all honesty, shrugging one shoulder. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Rei. I am Conundrum, ex-Elder of Enigma and...well, I suppose I am current Elder of this Tribe," Which still needs a name... Conundrum thought to himself, then shook his head to clear it.

"I have not seen any place like this, no, but that does not mean that it does not exist," Conundrum continued, tilting his head lightly in thought, his eyes scanning the leafy canopy above their heads.

But he was again distracted as Helios came back in, a grey-and-black female across his back. "Excuse me," Conundrum said, bowing his head to Rei. Weaving his way through the now-crowd of foxes that had gathered in the Oasis, Conundrum went over to Helios and frowned.

"Do you think she will be alright?"

Xiaoshi smiled when she saw the black phim take off towards the sound of the thump. It was a good thing he went after what ever had fallen since she wasn't quite sure herself if Xiaoshi would be able to get to her in time. When the elder spoke up she stopped drinking to look up and nodded at his words. "uh my name is Xiaoshi. I'm not an X from anything, never really had a home"

Just about then the black phim came back with an unconscious modifox. It looked like once she got some water and relaxed a bit in the shade she would be just fine. She was kind of glad some one was able to get to them in time.

Conundrum smiled kindly at the purple and blue female, nodding his head in greeting.

"Well, it is still a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Xiaoshi, not an ex- from anything," Conundrum teased her gently, chuckling softly. "Perhaps this Oasis can become your home, hm? Even if you choose not to become part of this Tribe, I do not think any of our members would mind if you lived here. I know I would not," Conny chuckled again, then looked back down at they grey vixen.

Sighing quietly, he looked back at Helios and asked, "Did you get her name before she went unconscious?"

Unia shifted, eyes fluttering open as she felt something she thought she would never feel again, water. Oh! A oasis! Her body slowly became aware of what was happening. A winged fox was tossing water on her, and this would haver surprised her had not her need of water overcome her.

She managed to stand, having rolled away from the winged fox and into the water, not caring that she was soaked. Her black eyes narrowed as she let out a small sigh of relief, lowering her head to drink the water she so needed.

When she had finished, she lifted her head, out of breath slightly, and shook, spraying water on the fox that had recused her as well. She smiled pleasantly at him, friendly and unlike most foxes that find themselves in strange situations, joyful.

"Thank you! I don't think I would have lasted much longer." She had a quick recovery time, already acting as if nothing happened, save the need to sit due to her weak legs. She glanced at the winged fox, nuzzling his cheek in a warm thank you gesture, and began to look around curiously. She noticed the rather large Modifox beside the one who has saved her, suddenly lowering her ears.

"Oh, I've been a trouble, haven't I?" She now asked the second rather large Modifox, then glanced at the winged one.

Helios blinked in surprise as the vixen rolled away from him into the water. Well, at least she was moving? "I'd say she'll be fine, Conundrum," the Modiphim said with a chuckle. "But no, I don't know her name."

When the female splashed him with water, Helios turned his attention back to her. "It's not a problem," he offered with an easy smile, having been accustomed to helping others most of his life. 'Phims were supposed to be gentle creatures, after all. The vixen nuzzled his cheek--almost like they were old friend--and again Helios blinked in surprise; she was rather friendly, wasn't she?

Helios followed her gaze and then chuckled. "Oh, I don't think Conundrum here minds, what with how much much has gone on today," he joked. This stranger wasn't the first one to find herself rolling around in the Oasis' cool water to try and keep herself from collapsing again. "Besides, he wasn't the one carrying you." He was teasing still, and rather than make Conundrum introduce himself again, Helios took over this time.

"I'm afraid I didn't get your name," Helios told her with a rueful smile. "My name is Helios, and this is Conundrum. Conundrum has been living in the Oasis, and everyone you see here just randomly chose today to visit."

But was it truly random? Helios, a creature who could get in touch with the Modeities, rather doubted it. They had a funny way of manipulating things to get what they wanted. The 'Phim gave Conundrum a pointed look there, trying to see if the Elder believed his Higher Beings were doing so as well.

Xiaoshi gave a look at the elder and shook her head at the not from ex-anything comment. She figured she probably deserved that for being smart. It was just they had put the ex titles in their introduction speech.

"Yeah, it would be nice to find a place to finally settle down. This place seems rather nice." Xiaoshi stated looking around again now that she wasn't so thirsty she was better able to take the scenery in. She watched the interaction with the sick fox with a quiet curiosity.

"I'm glad you're feeling better. You should try and take it easy. I know heat exhaustion and dehydration are not pleasant things at all." Xiaoshi shook her head and spoke towards the gray fox in the oasis.

It was true, Unia was a friendly fox. Her ears flicked, glancing at Conundrum, suddenly gasping. She knew why he had strange markings and was larger than some of the Modifoxes! He was an Elder! At the mention of the winged fox, Helios, carrying her she pouted, rolling her eyes playfully before lowering her head in respect to Conundrum.

"I'm Unia, and I have been traveling to attempt and perfect my medicine abilities. However, I guess I wasn't that prepared." She blushed slightly, lowering her head once more. When she heard a comment from Xiaoshi, she turned her head, nodding.

"Yes yes, I know. I do. I assumed it wouldn't be that hot out here, I've never been in such awful climate before."

PostPosted: Thu Jul 08, 2010 12:27 pm

Conundrum met Helios' eyes and smiled wryly about his comment about it being random, then cast his eyes upward. No, if the Modeities existed at all, they were definitely doing this on purpose. He shook his head at nothing in particular--it was too much of a coincidence for all these foxes to have appeared on the same day without some meddling from Up There.

Shaking his head to clear it, Conundrum looked back at Unia and smiled. "Welcome to the Oasis then, Unia, and this Tribe," and Conundrum would have to ask Ate (the only 'member' he knew for sure that was staying) what she thought a good name for it would be--if the 'Deities didn't asnwer him that night while he was asleep.

"Yes, the desert can be harsh," Conundrum said, nodding his agreement. "You are more than welcome to stay as long as you like," Conundrum paused, then added thoughtfully, "If your interest lies in herbs and medicine, you might have collapsed in the right place; I'm not sure what sort of leaves and berries grow around here, but I'm sure that there must be some that only grow in the desert, if you're curious," Conundrum shrugged lightly, already deciding to ignore the fact that she had bowed to him because he wasn't entirely sure what to do with it.

He turned back to Xiaoshi. "This place is rather nice, I must agree." Conundrum agreed with a faint hint of a smile.

Ate had ... wandered away. To do something. She didn't even know - but the embarrassment of falling into the water and collapsing and jumping around (to say nothing of embarrassing the hell out of herself in front of that fox) was just too much to bear, so she'd go be by herself for a few minutes and recollect her thoughts.

Of course, she'd never expected this - her breath was stolen by the earth of foxes that had appeared out of nowhere - the oasis suddenly seemed a bit crowded (though it wasn't). She murmured "Wow..." to no one in particular and skirted carefully around Sir, because she really didn't need him freaking out on her for no reason, in case that was the type of fox he was.

She stepped somewhere behind Conundrum and looked at all the foxes - female. That could be ... boring. Or exciting, depending on what each of the foxes' .. proclivities were. She tapped her claws lightly in the sand.

Her purple eyes focused on Conundrum again, then Helios, and finally flickered back to Sir. Three males. She didn't bother counting the females - she didn't really care, and she didn't know any of them but Furii, so counting them when she didn't even know their name seemed wrong. Her eyes settled back on Conundrum - he made her feel safe and perhaps even a bit ... warm inside.

"Conundrum.." She called softly, stepping up more beside him. "I see that this oasis practically grows modifoxes. I went away for a few moments and I think we've right nearly doubled."

She smiled lightly, tilting her head up at him, and flicked her tail amusedly.

Quickly, Ate turned back to the others and bowed her head politely. "I'm Ate. Nice to meet you."

Conundrum felt a strange tug of relief when he heard Ate call his name, turning his head to look at her.

"Ate," he greeted in return, chuckling at her next comment. "Yes, it does seem that way. But no, each of these foxes found this place on their own, much like you and I did," Conundrum told her, glancing around at the group again. It was rather large...Conny counted them.

Seven. Larger than Enigma, if he remembered correctly.

Shaking his head to clear it, Conundrum looked back at Furii, having overheard Suna and her talking about some other Tribe in the desert. Worrying about territory fights, Conny excused himself from the Modiphim and the black fox (after assuring her that she hadn't 'caused any trouble') and went over to them.

"Excuse me, ladies," Conundrum interrupted quietly, dipping his head lightly in apology. "What were you saying about another Tribe?"

Furii laughed, recognizing the slight worry in the male's eyes.

"A Tribe that I myself had tried to start, Conundrum," Furii explained. "Called Khur. It never got off the ground, however," she paused, and smiled kindly. "I do so hope this Tribe fares better."

Conundrum let out an involuntary breath of relief and smiled back.

"As do I, Furii. Pardon the interruption." They nodded, and Conundrum started back to Helios, Unia.

Unia smiled at Conundrum when he mentioned the herbs. "That's wonderful, I'm pretty sure I know what they can accomplish, my mother was a Shaman." She glanced around, jumping when Ate spoke, startled. She smiled at Ate, glancing at her odd marked fur.

"I'm Unia." She said, glancing about the oasis for awhile before without asking rushing off to expect some herbs she spotted, wobbly but recovered mostly. She sat before the patch of herbs quietly, sniffing and eventually gently ripping them out with her teeth. These were perfect for quenching someones thirst and recovering them from dehydration, the water seeping from the insides could only verify that.

She noticed the many Modifoxes moving about, slightly confused. Why had they all gathered together like this? In a oasis, no less. She was fairly worried, her fur was dark and attracting plenty of heat. Maybe she should stay around the water more.
