It had been a very long time since she last saw her grandfather, but her grandfather (as far as she knew) was safe where he was. There could be other visits in the future.
"Another time," she agreed, "It'll be interesting to see how things are going."
Miyuki nodded happily at this, "Snow is yummy! And makes good towers."
That was as much as she could remember about it, she knew that was where she got her doll from, and where she had to go home from, but there were times the memories were a bit hazy.

Kaito laughed. "Snow? Yummy?" He snickered. "Do you know what snow is, Miyuki? Snow is water that froze around a piece of dirt. Sure, the dirt here is a lot cleaner than the dirt back home, but still! It's dirt!"
Sir Valdemar chuckled at Kaito. "You are aware that no one ever was harmed from eating some dirt?" he asked.
"Speak for your own world," Kaito retorted. "There are so many toxins in our dirt, I don't even want to think about it!"
Earendil smiled. "Arwen has also received a letter, and she has written to us to say that the Zephyr is ready for us whenever we are ready to go. She and Roydon will be taking us again. Celeb of course will be coming along as well. The last I heard of Leyenda and Kelirahc, they were still traveling, so I have no idea if we'll see hide or hair of them this time around."

"Not if you eat the top of it," Miyuki protested, "Don't eat snow so close to the ground."
This was her reasoning, of course it was true that normally Lin would not let Miyuki eat snow, especially from Gaia, but it didn't hurt so much to eat the top of the snow as it were.
"Who knows, they can be quite surprising sometimes," Lin murmured, "So they're just waiting for us at the moment. Now the only question is... is Kaito coming."
Since Kaito also didn't expect a long trip.

"That, I imagine, would be up to him," Earendil murmured with a smile. "We know there is room for him, but whether or not he wants to will be the deciding factor."
He chuckled softly. "Perhaps we should go find him, and Miyuki while we're at it?"
Kaito rolled his eyes. "No, Miyuki, it's not that it's closer to the dirt or anything. Each individual flake is a collection of frozen water particles around a microscopic speck of dirt. Thousands of them are in each handful."

"Eh?" Miyuki blinked at him.
That was probably a bit beyond what Miyuki was capable of understanding. Snow didn't have dirt she didn't see any dirt on the top layer of snow. She had no idea what he was talking about.
"We should... hopefully they made it to Sir Valdemar's study alright."
With Miyuki she never knew.

Earendil chuckled softly. "I'm sure if they didn't, Kaito or Senka would have come back here to let us know something was wrong," he grinned. "Or else we'd have heard something."
Some yelling or hollering or some such hullabaloo.
Kaito squinted at her. "Just take my word for it," he gave up. "Ask your mom when she catches up with us. But if that's not a reason for you to stop eating snow, then think about this: it lowers your internal body temperature and causes you to freeze faster, causes hypothermia ..."
He trailed off, suddenly realizing that all of that would be going over her head as well, then finished off with, "It will make you freeze to death if you eat too much of it."

Lin didn't bother to tell Earendil that Kaito was a bit... blunt and couple that with a very bright mind she wasn't sure if she should be feeling better.
She didn't look convinced, "I suppose, but we should go, because well..."
How could she explain it?
"You do realize you're telling this to a six year old?" Senka pipped up thinking Kaito was stupid.
Who told little girls they would die from eating too much snow? Besides, it wasn't like she ate a lot of snow, she just said snow was yummy. Really, Senka thought Kaito shouldn't be around children.
Miyuki looked up at him with wide eyes as if he said something awful, "So Mummi was letting me play in something bad?"
"I'm telling Lin you traumatized the furball."

Earendil blinked at Lin and stepped away from his desk.
"Because ...?" he pressed, holding his arm out for Lin to take.
Kaito sighed. Senka had a big mouth, and there were times he wanted to gag her.
"It's only bad if you eat a lot of it," he told Miyuki, ignoring Senka entirely. "Really you shouldn't eat any at all, but if you're going to anyways, just don't eat a lot of it."

Taking his arm, Lin chuckled and admitted to Earendil quite plainly.
"Kaito can be a bit blunt sometimes, and he spends most of his time with Shiro and Ura, he probably has more trouble than I do in relating with a six year old."
"Of course not, if I eat a lot of it it'll hurt my head," Miyuki replied as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.

Earendil chuckled. "Well, there's no time like the present to learn," he grinned at Lin as they started down the corridor. "For that matter, what do I really know about children?"
Kaito snorted with laughter. "Hurt your head. Well that's just a sign that you've had way more than you should!" he laughed. "Well on your way to making yourself sick!"

"I don't know, but you do very well with them," Lin replied.
Honestly she didn't know much about children herself, but that wasn't the point, or maybe it was.
Miyuki pouted, she didn't like to be laughed at, "It was not a lot!"
She crossed her arms over her chest.

"Sometimes I wonder if it's only because of my connection to the children that I spend time with," Earendil murmured. "I mean ... sure, I don't see many children that I'm not related to, but I can't connect with them the way I do with Kelirahc or Miyuki or Aranxia ..."
And that only made Kaito laugh louder. "Obviously it was! Or else you wouldn't have had a brain freeze!"
Sir Valdemar smiled faintly and put one hand on Kaito's shoulder. "Kaito," he murmured, "I believe it would be a good idea to stop teasing her. She is very young and probably does not quite understand it all yet ..."

Lin smiled at that, "Still.... I think you do very well. At least at times I think you know more of what you're doing than I do. I don't normally interact around children that young, there aren't that many that I know of."
So Miyuki had been quite the learning experience.
Miyuki gave Kaito a look, and her brain was running several miles per hour. She didn't like him at the moment, but Mommy said... so instead she stuck out her tongue and turned her back on him. Getting back at him was a big no no, so she was going to do the only thing she could do that was okay.
Ignore him.

Earendil chuckled. "Well ... at least we're not going through this alone," he murmured, smiling widely down at her. "And that will be good for us, for all of us."
Kaito grinned. "Such a kid."
Sir Valdemar smiled faintly, then turned to Miyuki, also ignoring Kaito. "So Miyuki. What kinds of things do you like to do?"

"Very good," Lin smiled warmly, "Miyuki is certainly happy to be back. She missed you a lot."
Which couldn't be helped, of course trying to explain to Miyuki was difficult to say the least.
"Getting that book for you helped a bit."
Miyuki looked up and thought about it, "I like to play, and I like hear stories."
