"Leyenda and Kelirahc will be traveling around the Four Lands, so I don't know where they're going to be by the time we sail, or if they'll be going," Lin murmured, "And Haldia...."
It would be nice if they could visit Haldia, Lin would be far more comfortable visiting Haldia with Miyuki.
"She went back home," Lin admitted, "She's made leaps and bounds with English since she took lessons in sentence structure but it's still difficult and she said there wasn't much for here there. She still has family back there."

Shiro nodded. "Family, friends ... perhaps a loved one, even. But yes, she was away for a long time, and it was the first time anyone from there ever left for any period of time. For Kelirahc, it is different, he has a family from elsewhere. But for Haldia ... to be alone, and so different from everyone ... that had to be hard for her, even without the language barrier."

Lin nodded at this, it only made sense she would go home then, no matter how sad it was.
"But hopefully we'll get to see her again," Lin murmured, "She decided to stay the winter to see all the snow."
She grinned at that.
"Even she can walk on snow."

Shiro chuckled. "You seem surprised," he grinned. "It does appear to be an elven trait. Perhaps you shouldn't be so surprised then. After all, an elf is an elf."
"You can just fly over it," Kaito pointed out to Lin. "You don't have to trudge around in it either, to be fair."

"Not all elves can," Lin murmured, "Arthael can't."
The only reason why she remembered this, was because it was her first Christmas there, and Arthael had decked Halmir hard.
"And... we were making snow forts at the time, so...."
"No! 'old! Yummi," Miyuki pipped up the moment she heard snow.
It was yummy but only because it didn't taste like much actually.

Kaito laughed at Miyuki. "Well, I'm not so sure that it's yummy," he grinned. "But I guess I'll take your word for it."
Shiro was silent now, thinking about what Lin had said about Arthael. It surprised him: he had never heard of an elf that could not walk on top of the snow before. He wondered if Lore could ... though Lore was a different type of elf, to be fair, from a completely different world.

"Miyu introduced them all to ice cream," Lin explained, "Since then Amalirahc and Miyuki since then keep trying to eat snow."
Which wasn't that bad in the Four Lands but it was highly inadvisable for Gaia.
"She actually stuck her face into a snow pile since it was as tall as she was."

"Oh dear," Kaito chuckled. "I can't imagine that going over well. You're going to have to make sure that she doesn't try to eat the snow here come winter, it's quite polluted I would think."

Lin chuckled at that, this was true. It would be good for Miyuki though she wondered if she would ever been around when it was winter here.
"No kidding," Lin murmured, "At least she's stopped sucking her tail now."
She paused noting that Shiro hadn't said anything.
"Thinking of something?"

Shiro blinked at Lin as she broke his concentration, then shrugged one shoulder. "Something," he murmured. "Just ... wondering about Arthael. Her being so different and everything ... just ... thoughts. That's all."
Kaito tilted his head curiously, but his twin said nothing more.

Lin looked thoughtful, "I do admit, her origins have made me curious, but even she doesn't know. All I know it's probably from her father's side, but she doesn't know her father."
And no one had asked what happened to him, only that he wasn't around.

"She never knew her mother either," Shiro pointed out. "Do we know what type of elf her mother was? Or just that she was an elf?"
"I haven't talked with her before," Ura piped up, rather uselessly.
Kaito shrugged. "Once I would have said dark elf, but now I would almost guess Night elf."

Lin shook her head, "Amalirahc is almost gray in colour, Arthael is brown, and it can't be a dark elf neither, because elves have that unique genetics I guess you'd call it for simply inheriting one aspect of a parent over another. I mean, you guys should see the elves in the Eastland, if they're not straight blond or black haired, they have streaks in their hair that's completely natural."
She did know the only way you might be able to tell was in their eyes, because the eye colour did blend a bit but that was a small detail.

"Hey Shiro," Kaito grinned, "maybe we should visit the Eastland sometime, just to see them."
"I'd be more interested in trying to find out where Arthael's origins lie," Shiro murmured, and it was quite clear from watching him that he was getting another idea. "But I would have to study the Eastlanders first to do so ..."

Lin chuckled, "Well you should see them then, it's true, Kelirahc is pure black, but the point is, elves do not carry genetic traits like we've been taught in science class, or in your case anything you've read."
She paused and looked at him.
"I've gotten your curiousity peaked haven't I?"
