Ok this needs to stop. As the captain of this guild I can't let this petty argument continue, nothing is changing with this continueing and everyone just seems to be getting frustrated because no one is bending on their stance. I am proud to see everyone fighting so passionately for what they believe in but this needs to stop because we are just creating waves.

Lasdytsukiyo I'd just like to say that most people who have been debating (arguing) with you have all been saying roughly the same thing in that they aren't saying they're wiccan because it's cool or newage but because all the information they've read about and their teachers have called it wicca. I'd also like to say that you mentioning you are pagan rather than wiccan did give me some respect in the fact that you are fighting so passionately for what you feel is right even though it isn't your title specifically you are fighting for. I was impressed, I honestly expected you to say you were wiccan.

Celtic Brigid I'm glad to see you putting your 2 cents in there but the argument had obviously been over for a while and this has only rehashed it. You also mentioned "And I just hope you understand no one is attacking you, we just feel there was a better way of expressing yourself then just saying... you are wrong you cant call yourselves that." That is your opinion and I don't know what we you are refering to but if you are refering to the mods again that is your opinion you aren't speaking for all of us.

This is an official warning if this argument continues I will have to delete the thread and no conversations on paganism or wicca will continue. The point of this thread was for people to talk about their beliefs and ask questions about others or things they are interested in not for us all to argue about what name is the right name for who's religeon and the real meaning of each.

Haha. Everyone seems to think when I talk about Wicca, that I'm Wiccan. .__. I had someone even ask me if I were a Gardenian Wiccan in the LD. I mean it's flattering to me thought of such. But I've just studied it for months. It's not the religion for me. Certain aspects don't feel right to me, but I'm just curious about the history and culture of it like all religions. Even if I were Wiccan, I would have at least had a voucher and at least establish what my initation lineage, tradition I initated in, and my age razz

The reason why I feel so strongly about people take the term out of context because I do know what it's like to try and do something for a long time and having someone claim that sort of diminishes the worth of it. For me I'm a writer as well as an artist, I put my life (almost) into my craft. Granted they're not the best however they are an extension of myself. If someone were to take that and claim it as their own, then the value of it, the value of my craft would be gone.

Anyways, to switch this over:

What made you decide on being a pagan? What religion, if any were you before? What aspects of paganism do you like? What pantheons are you into?

I have not bent to saying I don't practice wicca, my teacher calls us wiccan and I stand by that but for the sake of stopping the argument I'll just refer to myself as a witch, I tell most people I'm a witch anyway so it's not like I don't like the word. Infact I love being called a witch and refer to myself as a witch over wiccan most of the time, wiccan is just better known than witch. But I'm not looking to start the argument up again so back to being a witch, one of my favortie words of all time.

I have always been a witch even when I was a child. My dad taught me about faeries, we bought books and studied them together. (little did I kjnow that I believed in them and he was humoring me, he's atheist) Once I learned about faeries I learned about mythology and my knowledge of the supernatural and mythological grew until I became who I am today. Now the thing is my mom is christian and I had quite a few christian friends (my mom doesn't go to church but a few of my friends did). Wanting to find a place i fit in I went to church with some of my friends and sat through sunday school when I was in grade 4 but it didn't feel right not to mention the teacher told me faeries weren't real and I was to take it back, then I told her about the other gods and she told me I can only have 1 god. Long story short I was kicked out of the church and asked to never return. when my friends mom found out she basically told her daughter to stop hanging around me. I lost quite a few friends to this but I refused to change my mind. Who was to say angels and demons and god and the devil were real but faeries and the other gods and goddesses weren't. It logically didn't make sence to me. All I can say is thankfully my mom is christian and my bad experiences with christians hasn't tained my view of them. Not all christians will dislike you because you don't believe what they do, and not all christians are close minded enough to believe that there can only be 1 god, even if they choose to only worship 1.

As I got older my beliefs didn't change, I still believed in everything. Nothing seemed to fit for me and I felt lost and without a place. It wasn't until I was talking to a friend who calls herself wiccan that I realised wicca.....witch craft was perfect for me. and I've officially been practicing for about 2 years now. I mean I did my own thing with candles and spells in highschool and learned a little bit here and there but I didn't get serious until I found a small coven and we wanted to learn further and more serious.

Some of my favorites are the greek and norse gods and goddesses but I call to brigid alot, nyx and artemis are 2 of my most favorites. I've taken an interest in night and the moon lately so I've been trying to think of night rituals, if you have any ideas feel free to let me know.

Don't ask me about rituals. I don't know my head from my a** when it comes to rituals and the craft. I'm still learning. .___.

Most my work is done at night as they're bathing rituals. I have a relaxation one and a cleansing one.
I always felt awkward about working skyclad... till I realized most my rituals are done so. xd I guess I learned not to knock it till I try it.

What about you guys? What brought you to be the people you are today with your beliefs and which deity's do you connect well with?

I've always connected to Kemetic deities. Particularly Bast, Isis and Anubis.
Now, I'm trying to branch out. I'm interested in trying to form a relationship with Greek deities like Athena and Diana.

I can't really branch out into anything till I move out and can fund my own ventures
(My mama was raised Baptist one of the scariest of christians next to Pentecostals [why do they think smacking people in the head fixes their problems?])
I am not sure of what deities to work with due to the fact none have really appealed to me except a few here and there but I have never had a chance to learn about them with out being completely lost in translation

A reasonably discrete way of learning about gods and goddesses is to just pick up books on mythology or google things. Sometimes if you just sort of type in the type of god or goddess you are looking for, such as a goddess to help you look at your life more clearly or something and to work through that. Lot's of times if certain gods or goddesses aren't jumping out at me I like to do that. I found quite an odd connection with Isis doing that once.
