Naia blinked down at the large green dragonet that settled itself at her feet. "Yes?"

She felt mildly discombobulated.

I'm hungry. the voice in her mind was mild. But the large body remained at her feet, not moving towards the meat, and not encouraging Hers to guide her towards the food. Her eyes flickered from person to person, taking them in.

Naia rested a hand on one of the headknobs. "Well, we'll feed you, then." her voice was businesslike. "You've neglected to tell me your name, you know."

"Well, then...!"

It was near disgusting to Avery, how late she was. Not very, but late enough for someone who'd attended as many Hatchings as she. Then again, never before had she gotten a dragon by being on time! Shaking some curly hair from her face she moved past some of the younger candidates with a frustrated noise. Honestly, the scared little things were taking up all of the good views and...

The sound of eggs cracking and made her pick up her speed, in time to witness the first hatching, then the next few. She'd always had excellent timing, at the very least.

Pulling a tie from her wrist, she held back her hair loosely from her face, shifting into a comfortable position to scan her eyes over the nearest candidates, followed by the eggs. As usual, she stood closer toward the boys' side of things. It was often more interesting in that section of the sands.

So far it was going extremely well, the dragons amiable and more concerned with Theirs than anything else. They were amusing, though not especially interesting to Avery, not this late in the game, when there were still eggs to be hatched.

Indubitably

Lala watched as slowly but surely, dragonet by dragonet hatched and impressed. It was all quite neat and orderly, except for that one blue who made all the noise when he got stuck. Weren't blues supposed to go to boys? And yet he had impressed a girl. Was that normal?
When the dark green finally impressed after all her wandering around, the young woman smiled a bit. She seemed like a calm sort, and very pretty. Her gray eyes soon went back to the rest of the clutch, still hopeful that there might be a dragonet there for her too.

Judging by the way that girl moved towards the blue, determined and the like...Jessalie could only assume she was the one the blue'd impressed. Oh, how nice! And when the green lay down at the other girl's feet...why, another impression gone without a hitch? Jessalie sighed with relief. Her anxieties for the dragons safety was uneccesary. All was well, and hopefull would keep going well. She looked over the eggs expectantly, wondering which would hatch next, and praying that they too, would find theirs with minimal damage, and not go between.

A'ram shifted uncomfortably. How could he have gotten so old so quickly? He'd been just a little stiff when B'shir and the rest of his clutch left for that other Weyr. Now he felt far older than sixty something turns. He knew there were older riders than he at the Weyr, though not many. He wondered if they felt like this sitting in the stone stands.

Are you that uncomfortable? Rath asked. The dragon was twenty one turns younger than his rider, and he wasn't really feeling his ages as much. He'd grown leaner in his old age, a bit bonier, but he didn't suffer as his rider did.

I'm fine, A'ram said stubbornly. What do you think of the new hatchlings?

They are small. I think they will be less violent than your grandson's dragon's clutch. Not that he remembered it so well. He only vaguely remembered Sakneth at this point, and only as the dragon that A'ram's grandson Impressed, and a rather detestable dragon at that.

"Mm..." A'ram replied indifferently.

A good start to the hatching; an amiable brown, a pretty (if pretty helpless) blue, and two wonderful greens. Still, he couldn't help giving a slight sigh as each dragon chose somebody that wasn't Veyes. True this was only the third clutch his young friend had stood for, but if he didn't Impress the lad would be horribly disheartened, you always were when you weren't chosen...

Still, there were plenty of eggs left to hatch, and Veyes wasn't yet seventeen. He had time to find his lifemate... but as he peered down onto the sands, focusing especially on the long-haired boy, L'thor hoped his friend Impressed today.

"His will come," Raith said placidly as she watched the eggs for signs of movement. "In the end, he will find his lifemate... or not. Even if he doesn't, he'll have a good life, I'm sure." She would like for Veyes to find his bondmate of course, but either it would happen or it wouldn't. There was no point getting worried about it.

L'thor sighed faintly, and sent the green a feeling of agreement. Nothing they could do but watch and hope... How was Panata doing? He had assumed he would be hoping for two people when this day came around but the nervous boy had gone off to that Ghenza place. He hoped he was doing alright out there.

At about the time the green impressed, the girl Ronasha was using to hide behind turned and hissed something so venomous that the poor nervous thing skittered helplessly forward and took her place in line. Mind, the comment was likely something like, 'Hey, hun, why don't you come up and join the rest of us. But. She knew. What it meant. Trouble. And her in it.

Standing with the others now, only slightly comforted by the good behavior of the dragons and the lack of active seekers at the moment she bounced from foot to foot as much from frantic energy as from the heat of the sands.

Her eyes skimmed the unhatched eggs, counting. Seven left and she was sure enough of the Queen's good behavior to not worry over much about that one. She could... survive... seven more eggs. Maybe. If a dragon really started chasing her, she could always run around to Fell. He'd protect her. Yes. She'd go over now if she wasn't absolutely convinced of the Weyr crushing potential of such disobedience. Not that she expected to impress, but what if their was a dragon look for her. And she was in the wrong line? And it went between. And then maybe, there wouldn't be enough dragons for threadfall, when it came. Because hers was missing. Everyone would die. It'd be all her fault. No, best to stay in her assigned place.

Soril stood among the boys, watching as dragonets found their lifemates. He hoped that his would be among the remaining eggs - but knew that if it wasn't, then it was not his moment.

And really I just hope for a successful hatching without any dragonets going between and a healthy Queen!

Wearing the Candidates robes felt natural to him by now, having stood more times than he would like to admit to, but his body was still racked with nervousness with each movement on the sands. Especially when the eggs moved.

He focused his mind again, pulling it from all the places it went that made his innards jerk. He was used to being around dragons. He was used to Standing.

Yeah, if it were that easy!

Julian tries to keep tract of all the hatching dragons. He gulps in a breath and holds it until the dragon Impresses. Not very conductive to staying conscious. He gets a blue ting around his lips before he realizes what he's doing and starts to breath normally again.

The two little greens looked like they had Impressed, then a blue followed by another blue. The little one stuck in the egg had been cute, Julian thought. His attention roams over the remaining eggs. This was actually fun and exciting. He couldn't wait to see what else hatched and found a life long partner. Maybe even one would find him suitable if not worthy.

A glimps of something familiar out of the corner of his eye makes Julian turn his to find exactly what it was. It's the dragonhealer, I first met. I'm glad he's here. Julian raises his hand slightly to wave as Soril, but isn't sure he was noticed. The other boy seemed deep in thought.

The Koi Pond Egg was content to make a simple entrance to the world. Her hatching would be easily forgotten by time Dorath's next clutch was on the sands. The green broke free of her shell by piercing her nose through one end. After a single stumble, she stood tall.

Once she'd gotten poor Bayeth unstuck from his shell without mishap, Lilah patted him on the head. "C'mon, let's get outta here before somebody hatches out angry," she told him, hand on his headknobs as they walked away. "We'll get you somethin' to eat, you must be hungry."

I would like to eat, he agreed, Very much.

Of course, that meant she'd be cutting meat, wouldn't it? Fabulous. That was bound to go well - not.

Another green had hatched. Julian wondered if it would go towards the boys or girls.

Soril was quickly distracted by Julian waving to him, and he smiled and offered a quick wave back, keeping one eye to the sands all the while. It would have been a bit more enthusiastic, but another voice cut through his train of thought:

Sorilmine?

Soril looked back to the sands - he had seen the green poke her nose from the eggs out of the corner of his eyes, and now his attention was fully on her. He suddenly felt as though he was more himself than before, and very....

Sorilmine, your Aceth is here for you! She approached Hers, and he pulled away from the group of boys, stroking her head a moment. Yes, yours is here - come on! I'm hungry!

"All right," he said with a grin, unable to hold it back at her gentle pushiness to do more than stand on the sands. He led her to the table and offered her a hunk of wherry, which she gratefully accepted.

So how many greens now, three? That was wonderful, greens were fun dragons! Millet wasn't sure if any more greens would be hatching but she was pretty eager to find out. These three were so pretty, the one that had settled at Naia's legs had been such a haunting beauty. The one who had gone to the boy now - Soril? That was all she knew about him, nothing more. She'd have to remedy that eventually, as part of her desire to keep records.

Hatchings really were different while out on the sands. She'd been so used to stand in the stands with the others that this was all new and exciting, certainly something to share with her younger friends. It was a shame she'd waited this long to come out and give this a real shot, but in the end didn't it not really matter where she was? If a dragon wanted her then they'd find a way to her, right?

So anyway who was next, who was next?! So exciting, Milly wanted to see it all!

Julian smiled back then noticed Soril get distracted. He watches him approach the green. His smile turns into a huge grin when he realizes Soril had been chosen by her. Good for him!
