Akuji's ears perked straight up as he watched her. What she said was very quiet and he almost let it go. But it was Phaedra, and he could not decide if she was making threats or joking, after hearing what seemed like a chuckle.
Rising to his feet, he spoke almost nonchalantly as he approached her prone form. "I know of caves that were formed by trickling water over rocks. Some of these still have water in them. In others, the source dried up and all that is left is a lonely, empty cave where only the wind blows. Not even birds, bugs, or fungus can be found there." He came to a stop, feet near her face and stooped down to her eye level. The voice that told the tale of a beautiful but lonely place broke into a deadly snarl. The bone-rattle was back. It was as if Shade itself had climbed into the xio's pale form and wore it like its own hide. "If you ever approach her, I will drag you up to that place myself and slit your throat. I will leave you to bleed out and die, completely alone and forever separated from Mana. Do you understand me?"

As he drew near her the only signs that she was acknowledging him was the slight tensing in her body. She felt a slight bit of worry for what she had said. It seemed that he really did not like the thought of anyone else being near Phaedra. She could not help but feel a bit of pain filling her heart. No one ever cared that much for her. She was so envious that as he spoke of such beautiful places it started to physically bring pain to her. She hated the sound of his voice. Such promises and such treats so rapidly flowing from his mouth without any care.
As his voice changed and his thread sounded in her ears her eyes, which and been unfocused and just starring a head of her turned to focus on his glowing orbs. She could not help but feel the hatred of him disregarding all they had just done. It seemed the it really meant nothing to anyone but her. She should have known better than think that she could have been friends with someone like him. She growled softly, "You might as well drag me there already and tear me apart. She was nice to me and I plan to see her again. Do you think I care what happens to me? You have the power then go ahead and kill me what good am I alive if you hate me so. If your so threatened by me?" She did not raise for she knew is she tried he would only force her back down. She knew he was no match for him in power so she would not try to fight him now. But she would be heard at least.

"I am not feeling threatened by you personally. But you threaten, with your words and your hungry eyes, my katorai. You will not take her from me. I would rather lose you than her. She is my soul." What a peculiar choice of words. It was like he spoke of losing them both. But he did not have Narcisa. He did not really possess Phaedra either. But if the katorai had his soul, what was Narcisa to him? It was really too confusing to be able to say.
All he could ascertain was that Narcisa seemed keen on pulling them apart. Taking Phaedra from him. Or making him choose between the two. Perhaps he could not choose both, after all, life rarely ever worked out that way. But also, he could never choose Narcisa over Phaedra; he simply was not capable of making such a choice.
"Why are you so interested in dying. How can you expect anyone to care about you if you hate yourself so much?" His head was still low, and his voice was now just as low. It throbbed with pain. It was one thing to relish death and pain; it was his favorite flavor of insanity. But to want such things because of how much one hates one's self, that hurts everyone.

Narcisa could not let him see that he was hurting her. She did not know why but the fact that he loved his Katorai so very much broke her heart. It was not like she wanted anything from him. That could not be it. What would she want from him? Though there was something about him that she felt a need for. It was most likely just in her head. "Xio you don't want me. Deep down you just want to kill me. I would never ask for you to part with her. She is worthy of much more than you. I would never push my way between a Xio and their chosen Katorai." She paused her eyes growing dark as she gazed into the emotionless glowing eyes that he possessed. "Do say you would lose me, you can not lose something you do not wish to own."
She shook her head breaking the contact with his eyes as she pulled her legs under her. Though he was so close to her she did not feel a threaten as before. Though his confusion seemed to be echoed within herself.
"You see again your wrong Xio. I do not expect anyone to care for me. I do not ask anyone to care for me. They would waste their time." Her voice almost sounded hollow, as if the words had been said so many times it was just common sense to say them again. "I have seen death with you Xio...and it is not so cold as life. Dying by your paw would not be so bad." She said her eyes finally coming to rest on his again. The blood was starting to mat up the fur of her chest and shoulders now but at least the movement had not caused more bleeding.
Why did he have a way that made her question herself. How could he be so cruel and blunt in his words and yet she could read so much concern? She knew she always read too much into things. She could see now that what he and his Katorai had was something special. She was glad she could see it. She was ashamed for attacking him when they first met. BUt she was crushed that she could never see Phaedra again without welcoming a less than enjoyable death.

"So then we're both wrong about some things. For example, that which is worth pursuing can never be owned. I never wished to own you. But, if I wanted you dead don't you think you would be long-dead? What I did to you this time was an accident. So easy to kill. So difficult to preserve, especially for one like me."
He turned away. She is worthy of much more than you. Those are the kind of words that make one wish for violence turned inward. Narcisa was probably right. But to argue that Phaedra had chosen him would be pointless, no matter true it was.
He glanced back at her. "It's funny how we go back and forth, you and I. We have no simplicity. At any given time, your words tell me one thing and your body tells me something else. If I asked you right now what it is you wanted from me, would your answer be the same in an hour or a day?"

He was speaking too much. Every time he spoke it messed with her head. His violence and passion in partaking in it, was one thing. She could understand that but now with his words and tone it made her head spin so much. She wanted to yell at him. To get him to attack her and treat her how she knew they both wanted him too. And yet he was talking!
"One like you likes to toy and prolong the death. This time is was an accident. You act like this will happen again. You...." why was she wanting to be nice to him. Why did she suddenly need his approval and promise of more? Damn him for doing this to her. "You hold your power well you know just how much to push...how much to force and when to hold back..."
When his gaze returned to her she lowered her head her ears folding back against her head. "Life is not simple. My body does not talk. You read the pain in it. And I do not know what your answer would be...if I were to attack you again would you play it off as a game like you did when we first met or would you leave me still clinging to life and leave whither I lived or died to my own doing?"
The fact that he could think so much shocked her. She had been wrong. This Xio was far more than he seemed. No wonder he found such a wonderful Katorai. How pathetic she must look to him now. She felt like a pup doing wrong just to get a parent's attention.
She did not believe him. If something took so much time to pursue once a person got it should they not try to hold on to it and keep it? She could not help herself as she felt her will to fight start to slip away for now. Would she always just be on the edge of everything then? Always pursuing to be with others but never becoming one with them?

"Of course I do. Shade made my mastery of pain and death complete. It's what I am. To hasten death makes it an empty and finished thing." The feeling and the power associated with death was so much colder and empty compared to what lead up to it. One seeing death without completing it felt so very warm, and the pain and fear were boundless. It was fire and clay; separate there was nothing in common, but together they created something else. There was no way he could explain it to Narcisa without showing it to her.
He laughed. "Your body speaks. It sings. It squirms and begs. But if I killed you it would do none of those things. If you attacked me again... I don't know what I do. You seem to think that I plan everything out but I do not. I usually just react. What I do depends on what you do."
The fact of the matter was, everything was dependent heavily on her. The fact that he spoke of killing at all was very new. He didn't converse with his victims, he didn't tell them what he wanted to do, he just did it. Prey was prey. The fact that he had yet to actually kill her was practically unheard of. He just didn't want her to die. There was no need... yet. That was what he told himself anyway. But when he thought of her in death it did not bring excitement, everything inside of him slowed down and it made him feel a little hollow inside, as if he was already in mourning.
He returned to her side and lowered his head to her level again. Then on second thought he lay down facing her and set his chin on his paws. He looked up at her steadily and asked, "What do you want me to do?"

When he spoke of a quick death being less exciting she gave a slow nod. She would make sure that if she were to ever die by his paw that she would make her own death slow and painful for his enjoyment.
She could not help but feel heat rise under her skull as he said she some how had power over his actions. She wondered if he really heard so much from her body. Cursed thing betraying her like that! She did not look down at her body for she hated the site of herself. She never wanted to glance at her form in any way. At least for now the loop around her ankle was soaked with his blood so she could have a bit of him with her when she left him. Why was that important to her? She could not help but have a desire to please him. She wanted his favor...both his and his Katorai's. She loved the way he looked and acted with pain and death surrounded him or at least was near him. His own body seemed to shift with passion and a warmth that only made her long for more pain.
Her eyes focused back in the present when he moved closer to her. She looked to his face with a side ways glance not feeling the will to look at him head on. When he laid his large body in front of her and rested his head on his paws she felt a need to nuzzle her head against the thick skull of his but his words froze her in place with a look of shock. Why would he ask her that. Her eyes looked at him with confusion in them. What was it she wanted from him? She could think of so many things yet nothing came forward. "I...I don't want anything from you Xio...maybe...your name? Then at least my blabber mouth of a body will know what to scream when you drag me to the caves one day." She added. A name could not hurt could it? At least she would not just keep calling him Xio.

He could only read a small portion of Narcisa's body language, but describing to her aloud just what she wanted was completely true. He knew this because of what it was telling him right now. She seemed unhappy about it. Too bad for you. He grinned with amusement; she did not have to look at it in such an unfavorable light, unless she found the whole situation that abhorrent. But if that was so, why approach him in the first place? Or a second time, for that matter? She had to have known just what would happen when addressing such a dangerous xio, alone.
He watched her for a moment or two. He knew there was something more that she wanted than just a name. He just was not sure what.
"So. You want that kind of power over me? Hmph." He rose to his feet. "I don't know what it is, but I know you want something else..." He paced thoughtfully around the length of her body and past her then back, to stop eye to eye once again. "I would require your name in return. And my katorai would decide whether or not to share her name. That is not my choice to make." After all, whatever the xio said, his katorai could choose on her own whether or not to associate with Narcisa.
"I am called Akuji." He gave her another disturbing smile with sickly-glowing eyes. "So you see, I really must be a wicked thing."
(( The word akuji means evil, wicked, or crime, just so you know. xD <3 ))

She felt herself almost ready to smile at him until the glow in his eyes shifted to something more evil. She did not liket hat gaze he was giving her. She knew she walked a thin line when she was with him and from the gaze he was giving her she must have stepped over it again.
As he rose to his feet she took a small step back. As he started pace along her she stood still her ears tracking him but she did not follow him with her eyes, "My name belongs to all who ask. There is no power in know my name Xio." she said sternly her tail flicking slightly before he back to her face. "I did not ask for her name....I would not ask of your Katorai. I thought I aready agreed to that." she said and then felt herself searching the glowing orbs for something. What she was looking for she did not know. But she did long for what they had been doing before.
His name sounded strongly within her ears and brain. It was a fitting name and she could picture him with nothing else. She felt a smile move over her lips though it quickly faded seeing his smile. "It suites you. But you did not name yourself. Nor did I...my name is not so fitting as yours. Narcisa." she said flatly her ears lowering a bit. She sometimes wondered if it was her name that tied her down so much. "Now we both have a name for the faces."
(Her name means Numbness, Sleep)

( Narcissus is also a daffodil, which has narcotic properties. Perfect! x3 <3 )
He ignored her retort about Phaedra. If she did not take the hint then he was not going to press the issue. No sense in weakening his threats about the katorai any further. Nobody had to know that he was keeping Narcisa away from Phaedra when she could see her any time Phaedra wanted.
"There seems to be much that you do not know. There is a lot of power in a name. Narcisssa," he leaned closer and hissed in her ear. "Do you feel that power?"
He leaned back but did not move away. "I think your name suits you." He did not care to elaborate the whys. She did not seem to believe when he told her that she had a bizarre effect on him anyway.

(I think in some other language it mess to envy and dream. I did not know Daffodils hat narcotic properties. So much makes sense with those two now. Lots of power in a name or two)
Narcisa could not help but find that when she was alone with Akuji that she did not care so much about the firefly. When the blood covered white Xio gave her so much attention, good or bad, she found herself happy. She Never thought that he might feel some strange draw to her.
Hearing and feeling his words on her ears she felt a shudder run threw her body. The death rattle of his voice though grating on the ears was so melodic to her. As her name on his lips hit her ear she felt her body go numb and a gasp slip her lips. "From your muzzle...I do."
At the soft compliment she could not help but give him a warm smile. It was not passion filled, lustful, or full of fear, it was a happy warm smile. It did not last very long but it had been there none the less. "Thank you. Again you have taught me a lesson...but I can not help but wonder if it would have the same effect on another." she spoke as she moved closer to him. Her head was held low to allow her to walk smoothly as she circled slowly around him. Her eyes looking over him as she drew up his other side. Leaning her body up slightly she whispered into the back of his ear. "A...ku...ji." he voice still sore from the incident earlier came off as a warm breathy whispered against the white furred ear. He was right name did have a certain power to them.

(( Haha, she certainly does a lot of envying. >>; I didn't know it either, but I was looking up her name and came across it. *cackle* ))
He was seeing a change in her that he had not witnessed before. Funny what a little compliment can do. He wondered what receiving more of such nice things would do to her. Too bad she was fond of him instead of a nicer guy.
He tilted his head when she decided to explore the power a name could hold. When she uttered his name it almost seemed to hiss through her teeth especially in the second syllable. Her breath tickled his ear leaving it twitching, and the sound sent shivers down his spine. His head whipped around and he nipped lightly at her ear. "There, see."

When he turned to n** at her ear she could not help the smile that spread under her skull. She gave a soft nod. He was again gentle with her. His mood swings did keep things interesting between them. "Thank you for sharing the power with me Akuji. Now I am sure you wish for something in return." She said softly her eyes looking up, once again slightly confident and wanting, into his eyes. "What can I do for you?" She asked again with a flick of her tail.

She smiled again, how peculiar. Akuji tilted his head, still marveling at the changes in her. "In return? You did give me your name... Or was there something else you wanted?" He knew there was. He could see it.
