Yeah, well, hence "Room" temperature. If you don't turn the heat on during winter, it's gonna get WELL below room temperature.

Yeah, but did you play it for hours before December? Cause that's when the problem started happening. And even then, all throughout December, I had my marathons and it was fine, so it's really a long term thing, I think. But the fact is, Blu-Ray reader is fried. So no blu-ray movies, or PS3 games.

It's kind of an unpredictable problem, and it doesn't seem to be happening to everyone immediately. But I dunno how it will affect the PS3's over the course of the next few years. Cause even if it only happens to 200 people a month in the whole world, that's still 12000 people over the next 5 years. And I'm sure it's more than 200.

Could there be differences between the different versions of PS3s in different countries? Or is it happening over a range of countries?

Well, I don't know about Japan. But I've read about it on North American AND European forums. So at the very least, it's happening in those two regions.

It's $150 for Sony to replace it. And if it's susceptible to breaking again, I might as well just save up and get a new PS3 that's not. And like I said, just use my current one for PS1, PS2 and Downloadable games.

But you wouldn't be getting your PS3. Sony basically takes your PS3, then sends you another one, a refurbished one. So you'd have to back up all your save data onto a memory stick, or something, cause it would all be gone.

I've just downloaded the Resident Evil 5 demo and after the first cutscene before all the "zombies" attack you it got stuck on the "now loading" screen and I had to switch off my console and restart it. So I tried playing it again and it got stuck on the main menu as I was selecting "single player". I had to restart the whole system again. Has anyone else experienced this? It's only happening on this demo..

Nope. But I never bothered with RE5, so I wouldn't know. Though from what I've heard, there weren't any known glitches... And during a demo? Weird.

Well, that would probably cost you more, since they don't just sell replacement Blu-Ray laser readers at Best Buy. Besides, I don't know anyone who could fix it and I don't trust hock shops and places like that.
