((Yes and no. It is getting slightly better.))
Vassili came back downstairs after a couple of minutes. He had debated wether he should suit up. The black long sleeve shirt was testament that he didn't. His face was only mildly covered. Just one cheek and only a line. It would spread, but it was stable with his treatment of oils and salves. Every time he turned his neck though, you could here skin cracking as the burn like cancer broke again, after sealing shut.
He entered the kitchen just behind Kaden and opened one of the two proofers. Not as scatter brained as Naomi said. He pulled two racks of scones and slid them into the oven and turned to the coffee.
"You know stove made is better, last longer and is hotter. Still I prefer coffee from a french press. You can't make enough though." He pulled the device hot, setting water on the stove to boil as he rummaged through the coffee blends. He couldn't find any already made to his liking and instead found some unground beans. He grabbed several different ones, smelling each and found a blend he would enjoy. He set about to grinding.
((Going to sleep now. Have to be up a nine am. Which is just two and half away. So till after four pm, Central time.))

Naomi stood away as Vas put the water to boil and placed to scones to bake in the oven. Feeling slightly useless in her own kitchen, she went out to the sitting areas to open the blinds. Maybe a bit of light would make her feel better. Upon her return to the kitchen, she spotted him grinding beans. Damn, it smelled good. Shaking her head, Naomi went looking for her ingredients. There were so many pastries left over from yesterday in the special cupboards but no one likes being served stale food. She washed her hands and placed her own pot on the stove, half-filled with water. Then, it was the butter to cut and flour to add. Everything had to be perfect or at least, as close as you could get to perfect. With a glance over at her co-worker, Naomi decided to strike up conversation. "So, where are you from, Vas?" ((No problem. Talk to you later.)) Jesus is my Lord ♥

Vassili had pulled the pot of water off and placed the ground concoction of beans in the french press. He poured the water in and began applying even pressure to it as the question reached his ears.
"The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." He shook his head slightly.
"I don't associate myself with that decrepit nation called Russia. I was created at the hight of the cold war deep in Siberia." He poured the contents of the french press out and pulled the second pot of coffer front the electric maker. Pouring that into a tall pot for the consumers, sure to arrive soon. He started a third batch, decaf.
"I am at heart a Socialist, more a Marxist. Hope that doesn't disinterest you in my services. Just that's what I was raised on." He turned and held out one of the three cups he had made, sipping from the other one in his hand.
"Careful is is scalding hot." A napkin was wrapped around the one he offered her, his bare. He couldn't feel it, the nerves in his left hand dead long ago from some battle or another.

Naomi listened attentively to Vas' story. She smiled at the mention of the USSR just because she preferred to hear it. The actual history was more than a bit lost on her, unfortunately. "You mean, you were born during the cold war in Siberia, right?" She sliced cubes of the butter stick and threw them in the water. As she waited for it to melt and boil, she accepted the coffee graciously. "Thank you." Naomi winced a little from the heat and rested the cup on the counter. "I'm a bit of a Marxist myself but anyone who knows me would be more prepared to class me as a Functionalist." She shrugged and eyed her butter closely. Jesus is my Lord ♥

Vassili smiled back at her. No not born. He wasn't carried in the womb, nor was he conceived naturally.
"Fortunately the USSR and Russian Federation never had the Freedom of Information Act the states have. Secret documents are still secret." He gulped down the rest of his own cup of coffee and moved to the oven. Pulled the door open reached in and pulled both racks of scones out. They were browned. He had done this with out a glove on.
"You know those sci-fi films where a mad scientist creates a super soldier." He placed the scones on a tray, and poured the newest pot of coffee into a third dispenser pot.
"Well my government went broke because of that. Not because we were building nukes as fast as America. In fact we were bluffing." He held up one of the still cooling scones.
"Try this." He had sprinkled cinnamon on it after pouring the decaf.

The woman allowed the scent of the scones to pass over her. She had a really strong weakness for pastries hence the decision to make them. "Well, that's good," Naomi conceded as she sifted flour over the melted butter, "I think." She nodded at the scenario-based question and gave a little gasp at the bluffing of Vas' government. The implication that he could be that super soldier was not lost on her but he did not say anything else to that effect so she left it alone. Naomi looked over at the scone and took up her cooling coffee in response. "Thanks but I'll try it just now. Let me taste this coffee first, okay?" Her old habits were kicking in again. Her wall was reconstructing itself whether she wanted it there or not. Jesus is my Lord ♥

Vassili put the scone he had offered her on the kitchen counter, grabbed both scone trays and walked them out to the display case. With deft hands they were ordered into two sides, cinnamon and plain. He brought the trays back to the kitchen and began checking everything again.
"What ever you are making, it smells." He breathed the scent deeply. It was indeed intoxicating. Even his own scent couldn't spoil it.
"It smells great. Naomi said you were a bit scattered at the moment. Doesn't seem that way. Maybe overwhelmed is a better word. New business, new employee, who isn't all that pleasant at first and quiet intimidating." He chuckled. It wasn't the dark mirthless one he normally used. His vocal chords were damaged and his voice cracked and groaned constantly. This chuckle though. It held the sound his baritone rich voice once had. Maybe his oils and medication wasn't what he needed to heal. Maybe it was just human interaction.
"Anyways, we need to finish." He rolled his wrist and the imbedded led screen showed it was nearly time to open.
"And don't mention what I said to anyone. No one in the Kremlin thinks I'm alive, and we can't have secrets spreading to them." This time the chuckle was mirthless and dark.

Naomi watched as he rest the scone down and finished her coffee as he left to organize the rest of them. "Thanks," she said in reply to his compliment, "It's a recipe that my mom taught me a long time ago." Now, she took her favourite wooden spoon and mixed the ingredients in the pan, off of the stove. She whipped and whipped until satisfied. "You mean, Kaden...right? I'm Naomi and yes, she can be intimidating but you'll grow to love her for it. Ugh, finally someone understands but she wasn't stretching the truth very far with the 'airhead' comment either." She nodded in agreement and drew out the choux pastry mix on a baking sheet. "Oh my, I can't remember if to put the sausages in there one time or..." Naomi scanned her side of the counter for a defrosted pack of weiners. On the second glance, she spotted them and opened the pack carefully, placing one in each of the rectangular spread of the dough. The circles would be cheese pies. By the time she shoved them in the stove, Vas had let out his second laugh. It was scary, to say the least but slowly she was becoming accustomed to him and the idea that his past justified things like that dark laugh. To ease her nerves, Naomi picked the scone finally and bit into it. Like the coffee, it warmed her insides and she always felt good when that happened. After the that, she would go to check on the key set. As if to let Vas know of her plans, she said, "I'm almost done with your keys. You should be getting them by lunch for the latest." ((Yay, you're here! How was your day?)) Jesus is my Lord ♥

Vassili couldn't figure out how he screwed that up. His mind was moving faster than it had in a while though. Letting his baser instincts control him in the wilderness.
"Yeah, Kaden. Sorry. I haven't talked alot in the last two years. No one to talk to him the forests. Except trees." He chuckled.
"Take your time with the keys. I told Kaden I can get into anything." With a soft rush or air his left wrist slit open and a knife slid out. It was a straight edged blade. He didn't bleed. He let the blade slide all the way out before picking it up and tossing it in the trash.
"I won't need that anymore. Been acting up anyways." The gash sealed slower than he was used to and blood managed to leak out.
"See." He washed it off in the sink. He looked at the imbedded LCD and sighed.
"So as of now we have coffee, food and are making food for later. What we don't have is liquor, unless you don't want a alcoholic bar. Then I can setup the soda gun." He was checking things off on the screen. A stylus in his hand now, though you couldn't tell where he got it from.
((Everything is fine. I don't know how I screwed that up. I was reading back on Tainted's post and saw Naomi, realized it was Kaden and then just put Naomi.))

Naomi tried to chuckle along with his little joke. Honestly, she did. She was about to tell him why the whole "I can get into anything" comment did not exactly help her settled nerves when the knife fell out and he washed off a bit of blood and forgot about it. She had to keep reminding herself that not everyone came from a quiet, uneventful town like she and Kaden had. "Hmm," Naomi began, popping the last of her scone into her mouth and watching her sausage rolls bake, "I was hoping that we could have no alcohol but then who would come? I guess, if we implemented a drink limit system that it could work. Would you still set up the soda gun please so people could have the option?" She knew it was a lot to ask of him after he had done so much already. She headed for a pantry and pulled out a pouch with pastries from yesterday. Her weight was going to skyrocket if she continued to eat like this. "Want one?" she asked, offering it to Vas. ((Eh, it's no problem. I had spotted it in your post before that but did not think much of it until well...yeah. Glad to hear that everything is going fine for you.)) Jesus is my Lord ♥

// sorry Naomi ive been a bit... distracted ^^" Greetings Prent. How are you? -lackofanythingelsetosay-//
Kaden flounced from the back room, dressed and clean, a few drips of water ran down her cheeks. She followed the scents and the noise, stepping itno the kitchen she grinned slightly at the two. "I am sorry Naomi for the mess. Really." She said a bit bashfully, sitting down on a stool she sniffed the air, making a pleasant noise. She had never liked coffee, but the scent of freshly brewed coffee always made her relax. She turned her head to Vas, tipping her head slightly in greeting.

Kaden's sudden entrance through her off for a few seconds but she relaxed as the wolf-girl sat down. "Ah, don't worry about it. It's always a mess in there." Naomi shuddered despite herself and waited patiently for the oven to make its 'ready' noises. ((It's okay, Cuppy. I have to learn how to be more empathetic and patient. I suck at those qualities, bleh. Who's Prent? <.< >.>)) Jesus is my Lord ♥

Kaden fidgetted in her seat, closing her eyes. "I coulda cleaned it up myself you know." She said softly, flexing her fingers slightly. "You already have so much to do, let alone clean up my messes." She frowned. "Did someone cut themselves?" She glanced between the two as the scent of blood finally reached her nose.

"Stop worrying about it," Naomi chided her friend softly, "I'll deal with it later. After all, there is a method to my madness." She gave an endearing smile, hoping to comfort her without physical consolement. The manager nodded slowly at the question. "That was Vas. He was just getting rid of his master-key like knife. Anyway, speaking of keys, I should get back. Kadie, would you mind taking the sausage rolls out for me please when they are ready?" ((I should've seen that coming but I didn't know.))
