As the walker approached, the little fox's ears picked up, sliding the scarf down her head. "Oh shi-" she muttered, as the guns fired. Run. Run. RUN. She looked around, searching for a means of escape. The owl had appeared as well, riffling his feathers. Her tail moved violently, and she watched the man fall from his horse. "This is bad. This is very very VERY bad"

(Patience is a virtue, for me it's a curse. Also give you more time to over explain things :3 )

Erimentha moved very quickly for someone wearing such heavy looking clothing and half carried half dragged Aster after her when Aj started to run.
"Aj FIND SOMEWHERE TO HIDE!" She yelled out and kept sprinting.
With her free hand she tucked away her cane into her coat and rummaged around.
"Where is that blasted death ray when I need it. It's always there when I get attacked by blasted pirates but not when I'm being attacked by a walker, for steams sake!!!" She growled under her breath as her hand closed around the handle.
"Bout time." She twisted while she ran aimed and fired at one of the main pistons on the walker then bolted.

(Sorry about the wait my laptop crashed)

The walker staggered and crumpled much to the crews surprise. The spotter sent out a message to all nearby personnel warning them about armed offworlders in the nearby area, while the rest of the crew readied their pistols. Having sent out the message the crew agreed to try and make a run to the nearby woods for cover.

A message that Daniel received but chose to ignore. Although the news did trouble him, could the offworlders technology be in some way amplified in this world, the walkers were designed to be highly resilient. No hand held gun should have been able to damage them. As he mused over this a transport Airship could be heard approaching from the distance.

The Airship which arrived to collect Daniels and Mr Tinker was not what Daniels was expecting. It was an older merchant class Airship one of the privateer class models used to raid the Hispanic Empires vast Galleon Airships. A capable fighter but one which was so small it could be piloted by three people. Hardly the sort of vessel which Daniel wished to travel to York in. The Captain of the airship was particularly sociable much to Daniels annoyance as he did not want Mr Tinker to learn much about the world he had come to, as a guest he would have preferred him to remain in blissful ignorance until it was to late.

The Captain however seemed to want to talk ceaselessly about everything that he had heard about in the Glasgow bars. "Apparently the Rusks have decided to join the war in Europe on the side of the Continental Alliance. As usual the Americans don't want to get involved what with all the trouble with the Pan-Pacific Empire. The Apache Federation and the Plains Indians wouldn't let them send troops over anyway, given half a chance they would seize the Louisiana and the Spanish Colonies from California to Mexico right back off them." The Captain said barely able to stand up straight.
"Your drunk." Daniels said brushing the Captains arm off his shoulder "Im not," he said indigently "Its just the world thats moving not me." he laughed forgetting his indigence "It doesn't matter anyway from what the Scotts told me the Skandanavians have a new secret weapon which they got from the Gateway here. They are apparently taking it to their colonies in America, far from the British Empires reach. Don't know what it is but if its important enough that they would come here its got to be big."
"Thats enough, get back to your job." Daniel said aware that Mr Tinker was listening intently. "Mr Tinker if you would kindly take a seat I have a call to make."

Daniel watched the Captain wheel around from making his way to the bridge from the reception area "Oh that reminds me, calls…. Got one from the signal station we are to pick up some offworlders from Durham before we go to York."
"You do know that they destroyed a walker?" Daniels asked
"Thats why im not drunk." The Captain replied with a smile, apparently amused by his own wit.

Once the Captain was out of sight, Daniels walked to a smaller side room evidently one of the crews quarters and dialled the office of the Earl of Northumbria at Alnwick. "Hello you have reached the office of the Earl of Northumbria Lindsey speaking." a chirpy voice replied.
"Hello it is agent Daniels can I speak to the Earl please."
"Oh its you, give me a second and I will try and connect you." Lindsey said flatly. A couple of seconds later a click was heard and then a voice said "Hello Mr Daniels how can I be of assistance to our honoured guest from Wessex."
"What is this I here of us been sent to apprehend the offworlders near Durham, surely you know about the weapon they have with them."
"Of course, I do. I was also expecting your call. The solution is fairly simple, both of us know that the vessel is incapable of apprehending the offworlders and since the court in London has sent all of our capable vessels to aid their war on the continent I have to be seen to be doing something. Now it would not be my fault if a prisoner happened to escape and kill the crew of the vessel sent to capture the offworlders. Nor would it be my fault if that vessel happened to be stolen by them so that they were no longer my problem would it. If you managed to escape then you were never on it as I am sure my records will attest."
"I see, it is perfectly plausible."
"Good then I look forward to seeing you later, or preferably not." the connection immediately went dead as the Earl hung up his phone.

Daniels left the crew compartment and checked his pistol "Mr Tinker it was a pleasure knowing you, in a couple of seconds the Airship will start to go down. All you need to do is go to the crew compartment and depress the central pedal near the steering wheel to land the craft." Daniel closed the lock on the pistol and left the reception area, three shots were heard and then as Daniel said the vessel began to descend. Of Mr Daniels their was no trace.

The Earl of Northumberland thanked the servant who had brought him the phone and dismissed him. It was going to be a good day. His spies had located the Skandanavian monarchs only exiled son at the tender age of six. Why paranoid monarchs didn't just kill them he would never know, but alas his paranoia would be proven quite true. The man was mad and as such a liability to the Earls plans. He had been useful though, easy to convince that it would be a good idea to capture Lord Ashen the inventor of the trans-dimensional gateway on the Anachronism and easily convinced to send him to the colonies in America, far from the British Empires reach. It was always a good day when a plan comes together.

Countess Amelia watched as the device was activated for a field test. The vast gateway device hummed as large metal rings began to move around each other until they moved so fast that all that was visible was the blue energy core they generated. It was the first time that the device was going to be used on a human so most of the scientific team which had worked on it were in attendance. "Ready the test subject." Amelia commanded from her position over the device on the top level of the gantries built around it. Several scientists checked the locks on the diving suit which was designed to protect the test subject from the enormous pressures of the device. Content that they were all secure they indicated the readiness of the subject and pushed him forward.

The subject walked cautiously forward with the protective shard from the fallout tied around his suits neck. If Amelia's theories were correct the shard from the original gateways mechanism should act as an anchor allow the wearer to return to the world it originated from. Of course it was only a shard as the mechanism was held by the Emperor himself and he would not share it with the scientific department for study, so all Amelia had was her theories to work with.

As the subject approached the gateway he held his hand out and was surprised that none of the vast iron rings did not break it. "Enter the devise." Amelia commanded and the test subject obeyed. He vanished from view for several seconds before the cable tugged. Immediately the scientists activated the reel which pulled the test subject back, however all that came back out was a lump of metal. "Record that the test was a failure." Amelia stated before walking away from the devise as it was powered down. She needed the original mechanism to make the devise work or the original devises creator.

"Countess, what do you wish to do next." one of the scientific team asked.
"We need a mechanism from the original gate. As we can not gain the mechanism that the Emperor possess we will have to secure another. I believe one was sold to the Americas not that long ago by a Continental collector from the fallout. Ready a team to collect it." She replied
"As you wish."

Tinker listened to the shots that rang out from somewhere on the ship. He had just been set free, but he suspected foul play. It was very unlikely that these people's idea of a greeting for a prisoner was to give him his freedom and kill the crew of a ship set to deliver him into the hands of a malevolent empire, one wouldn't be able to build a successful evil empire on such tactics.

The news of other offworlders intrigued Tinker, could it be the Good Lord Ashen and his crew of intrepid adventurers? And what of this secret weapon the drunken captain was going on about? Many new opportunities were presenting themselves so suddenly. Tinker hardly had the means to take down an entire empire, but he was crafty and had already started thinking of ways to work this situation to his advantage.

"First matters first" He said to himself as he rose from the chair and walked to the bridge controls, shoving the slumped over body of the captain into the floor. He wouldn't be able to fly it by himself but he was no stranger to an airship and the technology was surprisingly similar to his world's.

He managed to slow the ship's rapid decent which was most likely due to some damage to the engine during his captor's execution of the crew. Tinker spotted a small clearing a ways off in the forest ahead of him, it would be the perfect place to set the ship down if he could manage. It would take search parties a while to locate such a small vessel amidst the trees, allowing Tinker plenty of time to beat a hasty retreat and sufficiently cover his tracks.

Tinker adjusted his landing course and watched as the ship slipped into the clearing. The entire hull shook as the bottom struck the ground. The ship skidded across the surface and right into a patch of trees along the edge of the clearing. The trees bent and crackled but they held the small vessel with surprising strength.

Tinker had been thrown from his position at the helm during the bumpy landing, his mechanical arms assisted him in standing as he looked up through the now shattered windows to see how the landing had gone. Aside from the rough patches it was a success. He dusted off his vest and straightened his hat.

"Well then, let's see what we have to work with." He grinned and turned to leave the bridge and step out into a strange new world. Tinker was out to wreak some havoc in the most gentlemanly way possible.

The clearing Tinker had landed in was not far from where the other adventurers were assembled. It was near the ruined remains of an old farmstead obscured by the forest which had overgrown it just slightly to the west of where the Airship had landed. The beginnings of the wall which had surrounded the farmstead was visible from the edge of the clearing. The building itself seemed to date from the late 18th century although the overgrowth suggested much earlier. This was a point that would intrigue any student of history and science as it suggested some form of accelerated growth amongst the woodland surrounding the farmstead. To the east was a path which had been beaten by regular travel although not wide enough to suggest many people used it.

The walkers crew watched as their relief Airship spiralled out of control and crashed not far away in the forest. Outgunned and without support they had no choice but to surrender. They left the walker with their hands up. Cautiously they approached the adventurers until they were close enough for the spotter to place the keys for the walker down in-front of them.

"Is violence really the best solution?" Aster asked dryly, extricating himself from the woman's grip. "I shouldn't mean to criticize the effectiveness of your method, but rally Madam, was that not a trifle excessive?" At the same time, he was walking deeper into the woods at a steady clip, and sorting through his bag for something. He began to bolt an odd assortment of coils, tubes, wires and gears together into something approximating a rifle. He pointed it at a cluster of flowers, and seemed to smile faintly at how they frosted over as a jet from the device hit them. Then he looked at a gauge, and his smile became a frown. "Well, it uses too much CGE to be an effective freezer, but I suppose I've done a passable job at reinventing the fire extinguisher."

"What? You're call puncturing a piston so they couldn't follow us excessive, I've seen excessive more time than you have read your books. And it's Ma'am, a Madam is a woman who runs a brothel." She grumbled and skidded to a halt a puff of dust gathering at her feet.
"Looks like their air support is down as well and they've surrendered to us." She pointed out the thin trail of smoke from the Airship which led to the ground and then the crew of the walker.
"Which is a bit strange seeing that I only hit one piston on the leg and if they had built it for war purposes surely they would have had a secondry system and blown us sky high. Something is a bit out of place here and I don't like it."
She walked up to the crew with her death ray hanging by her side, snatched up the keys to the walker and gave them all a stern stare.
"Ok what gives? Back home you would have blasted me out of existance for damaging a walker, what are your orders?"

"We were only told to apprehend you, nothing more. Since we were provided with only a piece of junk to do it, none of can see a good reason to die trying." One of the crew said. The others nodded in agreement.
"Its not like they would care if we died, whats it matter if a few grunts get killed." another crew member said.
"Hey they would be more upset that the walker got destroyed than if we die." The spotter pointed out to further nods of agreement from the crew. "We are dead anyway for letting the machine get damaged." he added after a seconds thought.
"On about that we are definitely dead if we get seen talking to you." The gunner said hinting heavily.

Within the city of Durham the Bishop walked quickly followed by his court towards the reception room. He had been told that a visitor had come to see him and that the visitor was from the Emperors court. Such a visitor was never good news and so as the Bishop halted at the large oak doors he stopped for a moment to collect himself and prepare himself for what ever was about to befall him.

The visitor was standing beside the fire. He was wearing a plain suit and bore little which would mark him as a man of money or a particular class yet he caused greater fear in the Bishop than any other man could. "A William its a pleasure to see you. Now you must know why I am here."
"N.. no... what brings you all the way here."
"I have heard a lot of interesting stories lately." the man sat down on the chair next to the fire and pulled out of his pocket a glasses case from which he produced a pair of heavy set black glasses "One of which I only heard once I got here. About some visitors to Northumbria from the gateway. Visitors which I have been told are still here and yet are not here talking to me." He placed the glasses on and looked at the Bishop.

The Bishop searched for an answer looking around the room as if hoping some form of escape could be found. One of his court gave out a cry as a blade cut him across his back killing him. "Im waiting." the visitor said, having not moved from the chair.
"Well, there were complications." the Bishop said.
"So I have heard, remind me again why you were granted the palatinate?" the visitor said as another member of the bishops court screamed and fell to the floor.
"We did not expect them to possess weapons like they are carrying." He said admitting the truth.
"I am quite sure if you all ran out from the city at least one or two of you could have reached them and captured them." He said without the slightest sign of humour.
"If thats what you want." the bishop said

((Yeah, I don't really want to go any further until I can either meet you guys or am given some more information about the lay of the land. At this point in time I don't know if you guys are walking towards me or away from me. I will at least get out onto the road you are on for now.))

Tinker walked through the thick foliage of the small but surprisingly dense forest, hacking and twisting the vegetation with one of his powerful robotic limbs until the forest gave way to a path shadowed by the overhanging tree limbs.
"Were I not fleeing for my life this might be a rather nice place for an afternoon stroll."
Tinker looked down at his boots, though the rest of his clothing had been kept disturbingly clean throughout his whole ordeal his boots had started to scuff and pick up mud.
"And, how I do love wandering aimlessly in the wilderness in my finest attire."
He looked the path up and down, trying to pick the best possible route.
