There, she'd taken her hand away. Good thing he hadn't tried to take her hand, since because she took it away it means she didn't want to hold hands, right? Though there's still the fundamental problem of he wants to hold hands.
Kieran realizes he's staring rather dreamily at Calais, and shakes his head abruptly. "Uh, yeah." What had she just said? Gods, he's so distracted. He smiles sheepishly.

Calais blushed and looked down at the table awkwardly, taking in every crack in the wood and speck of dirt. That's how much she was staring down at it. She forced herself to look up and face him, even with her skin still tainted pink. She giggled in amusement. "Did you catch any of that?" she asked him playfully.

"I was listening," he assures her, nodding. He sits up straight and folds his hands on the table, closer to himself. "I just got...distracted." He smiles. There's the charm. "You're very pretty, you know."

"Yeah, was being the key word. As in 10 minutes ago." She laughed but grew silent when he told her she was pretty. He had been distracted from her... by her? "Thanks..."Calais smiled shyly. "You're very pretty too" she added to take away some of the awkwardness she was feeling since she really didn't know what to say to that.

Kieran chuckles gently at the compliment. "Thanks very much," he says, grinning. There had been a time when he would've protested vehemently to being called 'pretty', but he'd grown out of that, and any sort of compliment from Calais was definitely welcome.
"I'm glad we found each other again. Did I mention that?"

"Several times..." Calais laughed, "And I am too." Calais felt her tummy rumble inside her. "Hmm, I hope our food gets here soon." she mentioned, embarrassed to have her body making strange noises while she was around Kieran. Long days at the beach certainly had a way of making someone hungry and sleepy. Calais swayed her body so that she could see behind Kieran, "Oh, that looks like it." she smiled.

"Mm, delicious food," agrees Kieran. He inhales deeply as the food is set before them. "Oh man, this smells great!"

Calais smiled and nodded her head as she smelled the food just like he did. She looked up at the sky which seemed to be getting darker, she might have to leave soon... she had enjoyed spending the day with him though. Calais began to eat her food, she'd have to eat fast which wouldn't be too hard because the food was really good. "Mmm, wow."

"Yeah," he agrees, tucking into his own food. He tries to eat carefully, to impress her with his manners. It's difficult...he's so hungry, and he isn't used to having to impress anyone. Well, he does his best to be impressive all the time, but that's different.

Calais laughed at him, she could tell he was trying to hold back on how he ate his food just by the look on his face. "Uhm..." Calais wasn't quite sure how to do this, she didn't want to leave her friend quite yet. "I have to go now... its getting dark..." she said sadly.

Kieran looks distressed by this. "Oh....alright....well, maybe....maybe we can meet again sometime. I live near the forest, with my mother and her sister. You can come by whenever..."
