User ImageOnce the groceries were on the floor, Rajin sided over to the wall where all the coat hangers were at. There were various of coats, hats, and scarves hanging on the hangers.

"Damn! You have no idea how cold it was while shopping." Rajin commented as he took off his scarf and cloak and hung them over the hanger. If the Hawk King wasn't so busy and being a hawk laguz, the tiger wouldn't have to go outside in the frosted morning. Hadn't he knew that feline disliked being cold in the winter?

His ears gave a twitch when he heard another familiar voice. Turning around, he saw Amelia yelled at Tibarn, drawing the cooks and busboys' attention toward the newcomer. Rajin blinked at Amelia and then toward Tibarn. Did these two knew each other? He wasn't sure what was going on, but he noticed that the cook was upset again.

"Augh! Not this crap again!" Rajin growled annoying as Tibarn strolled pass him and shut the door. Here we go again. Rajin thought bitterly. It was secret this. Secret that. This was getting on the tiger's nerve again. Seriously, that damn hawk really needed to lighten up about his privacy. The tiger had no idea what was the Hawk King's problem was about not wanting people to see him or what his job was. It was as if the chef was ashamed of himself. And Goddess damnit, Rajin was getting tired of Tibarn's attitude. The damn bird had no pride in himself.

Damn, I needed some catnip. Rajin thought irritated as he pulled out his pouch and opened it. He took out a small tissue paper along with a pinch of catnip, despite how low his supply was. He needed something to calm his nerves. After placing the catnip on the paper and rolled it up, Rajin strolled over to the oven to light it up and smoked. Although he should smoke outside due to the smoking policy, the cooks didn't mind the smell he was smoking. They claimed that it gave nice earthy scent when burned, but lemony-minty when not. And here he thought only felines were affected by the scent of catnip.

User ImageAruna spent a good portion of the morning in her nest of blankets and pillows. Winter was definitely not her favorite of seasons and last night’s party kept her awake most of the night. She had a few drinks, but not enough to give her a hangover. Please, working the Tuesday night shift got her drunk than that.

Light peaked through the curtains of her bedroom’s sealed window. She moaned softly as got out of her makeshift bed. Aruna slithered over to her clothes closet. “What should today’s uniform be,” she asked herself quietly as she searched through all of her outfits. “There’s that apron Hat gave. No. I already wore that last week.” The nagini pressed her index finger to her red lips. “I want something different than what I normally wear.” Suddenly she spotted it. An earthy toned ruffled maid costume hung to the far left. “That’s it!”

Grabbing the dress from the closet, she quickly got changed. The new boss, Vika, wouldn’t notice if their best waitress was just a few minutes late, would she? It didn’t matter. Aruna wouldn’t care much if she got scolded by the raven girl anyway.

She made her way down the stairs at her usual pace. The main dining room didn’t seem very busy. Three guests were sitting relatively close to each other and Blossom looked like she wasn’t overwhelmed. The maturing young woman was handling things nicely so Aruna decided to travel to the small stage Ganon preformed on.

“Morning, hon,” she said to him sweetly. “How has the crowd been?”

Clara had wandered around she saw a few things in her quest to find The Hostess Club's place. She saw a green haired boy who looked like he was a kid and guy with long black hair with a red marking on his forehead. They felt a bit like there was some negativity between the two and she was sure that the green haired boy had a tome on him. She got away from there as quickly as possible before something bad might happen. She didn't want to get caught in a battle with magic.

She then saw something that caught her eye. It looked like it was a bag of sword powder. She did need to get some more, but that was on her to do list after she got some food. She didn't know how much the food was going to cost her, so she wouldn't know how much she was going to have left.

She had gotten a few more odd jobs after taking some suggestions from some people. Hope anyone that was doing odd jobs wasn't mad that she was taking some of them. Then again they might not know who it was taking some of their odd jobs.

Clara continued her way to find the hostess club. She looked everywhere for this place. Then something caught her eye. It was a sign that said Hostess Club. A smile came onto her face. She finally found the place. She opened the door and walked in.

"Hello." She said. She looked around. The place looked nice. She then made her way to the counter and looked around at the various things that they had to offer. There were a lot of pastries. Not something Tibarn would be doing anytime for breakfast. She was thinking about what to try first.

"You can't blame yourself. Blaming yourself and falling into depression, it won't change anything.
You have to look forward. Remember what you have here now.
Just think; if you hadn't come here, you wouldn't have met anyone here from
Elibe or anywhere else!"

{Amelia}
Amelia straightened her spine a bit as Tibarn approached, shoving her hands back into her pockets. Did he still have jurisdiction over her? She worked for the Watch, yeah, but she was a guild member, but had he left the guild itself, or just its Crew? Even if he was a chef here, would he--

She stopped trying to mentally figure things out as he urged her outside and closed the door behind him. She blinked her green eyes, then looked away, expression falling. She stayed silent, leaning against the wall near Tibarn. The General just... let him talk. She didn't exactly know how to respond, anyway.

"Why... why are you here? You're not a friend of that lazy cat's, are you?"

Oh, no, wait. Now she did. Amelia looked over at him, her face still wearing that same cross of guilt and disappointment. "Well, because I finally heard word about you and I was worried! The only time I've actually seen you besides the brief glance at the New Year's party was well before you started working... well, here! You ever consider people just want to see you?"

Amelia removed a hand from her pocket and rubbed her ear, growing pink in the cold. "Look. I... I get that it's a secret. I'm not going to tell anyone if you're really that ashamed of the fact that you, a great chef, are working as chef at a restaurant. And... I probably shouldn't have reacted like that. But still!"

Green eyes moved up to find Tibarn's face waaaay above hers. That man is too tall. "I just... wanted to figure it out for myself. Why you're never around anymore." She paused. "Oh, and I only recently met Rajin. He seems nice enough but that doesn't mean we're friends. I've only spoken to the man for ten minutes, okay?" Amelia laughed sheepishly and rubbed her ear again before wrapping her arms around her middle, trying to hold in her body heat. "So... we're good? I promise I won't tell anyone."

Amelia rubbed her toes together. "You aren't mad, are you?"

"You're supposed to be dead, Soren," Rei said, giving the Sage a glare. Sure, he was blunt and rude, but you'd think he'd show a bit more respect to the Druid. Still, he did say that there was a 'figure similar to himself' or something. "Heck, you pretty much killed me and a few others..." he sneered, shooting the man a dirty look. If he knew about the doppelganger-thing, he could even know the full extent of what it had done. It wouldn't surprise Rei, for sure.

"He called himself... Neros. But he looked like you." Rei couldn't stop his hands from balling into fists. The memories of what was more or less his death, and subsequently a second chance, were still fresh in his mind. So whether Soren was knowledgeable to Neros and that entire terrible experience or not, Rei was going to make sure that Soren knew that the next time he would "go off and study", that he would need to make sure there wouldn't be an insane stand-in...
PostPosted: Wed Jan 06, 2010 7:55 pm

At first, Soren only blinked slowly, uncomprehendingly at Rei.

Then his voice emerged with a tone of realization. It was not strong or prominent, but it existed nevertheless. "Ah, so you have encountered him then. Where was this? During the Autumn, I presume, in the midst of the deserts of Sentria, where no god could spy the events until the source had subsided." Soren remembered that much as well. He'd peered into the seeing pool and was only met by fathomless distortion when he'd attempted to monitor that dreadful event. The Sage moved not a finger, twitched not a muscle, speaking impassively and in complete stoicism. He was also quick to infer at something else. "You speak as though he is dead."

Soren reclined his head to regard the white sky. "You are bitter. Fly at me with all of your fury, Rei, if it will placate your anger. I will wait for you."

Thoughts and formulae and logic processed in his mind almost automatically, untainted by the interference of human emotion save for mild hints of past sensations. The rapid procession of pondering and inference was almost reflected clearly on his burgundy stare, a gaze that appeared glazed over with winter ice, seeing nothing yet everything at the expense of wholeness and unity. And indeed, he waited for Rei to punch him, or kick him, or even summon up a devil from the deepest, most infernal boiling voids of elder magick that there was to conceive.

Or maybe he was just waiting for an answer.

...he knew about Neros? That was... unnerving. It... he wasn't even anywhere near Learania, from how he made it say. So... how was it even possible...?

"...How do you know that much about what happened?" Rei inquired, more intrigued than furious. If he knew this much about it, then... he didn't even know. And then... he pretty much invited the Druid to physically assault him? ...Was he insane or something?

"...what would be the point of beating you, Soren? We can't have you and your look-alike dead, can we?" Rei chuckled, simply shaking his head. "But you've definitely got some explaining to do..."

User ImageThe Hawk King stared at Amelia. "When did I ever say that I was ashamed to work here?" he asked, slightly incredulous. "Since I started working the Duke's Head, it's moved from one star to four! That's something I'm proud of!" He shook his head. "But I'm retired. I left the guild. And I don't want to be bothered. I don't want to be dragged back into guild work somehow and wind up fighting again." He paused and reiterated, "I don't want people from the guild showing up where I work and bothering me. Which, from what I can see here, means that up until now I've been doing things right." He sighed.

"Look, thanks for agreeing not to go telling everybody, but this is not about shame or because I don't want to see you guys. It's because I decided that the guild was a bad place for me, and you can't just walk out of the crew without getting bothered." He shook his head. "That's all. It was hard enough making Ayra understand, I don't want to explain it to someone new every day. I've got orders to fill now, so... I'll see you later. Maybe I'll drop by the Hostess club for a drink after work. 'Cept you're Host Club, aren't you?" He laughed softly. "Whatever, I'll see you around, okay? Just... keep this hush." He waved and turned, pushing the kitchen door open, and disappeared inside again.

{Amelia}
Amelia rubbed the back of her neck, feeling bad again. Talk about totally misinterpreting the point... She didn't respond to the Hawk King as he explained, nor as he continued to speak, she just kept one hand on the back of her neck and the other in her jacket pocket, watching her toes. She only looked up as she heard his feet moving, and then he was gone inside the kitchen.

The General stood in silence for a few minutes, watching the door. She could vaguely hear voices inside, but nothing definite. "...Like you've ever come to see anyone before now," she murmured, pushing her other hand into her pocket. "Not like we don't miss you or anything..."

She pushed off of the wall and continued again down the road, nose and ears bright pink by now. She could have sworn she could feel bits of snow falling onto her face, but she just kept walking, aiming for the hospital. Maybe if she talked to Rhys, that'd clear her mind some...

People having conversations really should be careful about their surroundings. Though they may be speaking privately, there were soldiers walking by, while Captain Nino's son and a strange fellow shared their words. It was not the soldiers intent to overhear, but certain things would be sure to catch their ear.

"Hey, did you here there...?" A soldier whispered to his companion, after they had taken a few steps away from the two.

"Yeah... That's the guy who was causing trouble in the desert, a few months ago? How is that possible? He's supposed to be dead.." The other replied.

"I don't know... but I don't like this." The first soldier commented, with a low, uneasy voice. "Inform Vice Captain Rath of this. I'll keep an eye on him."

The other soldier began departing as soon as the first had finished. "Right!" He affirmed, then continued down the street, towards the castle. This would be quite interesting news to hear. At least, for now, things were peaceful, and this strange man was not causing any trouble. Hopefully, it would stay that way.

Soren immediately began to file through his memories for the answer. He did not doubt that there was plenty of explanation as of yet to be explored. For a moment, just one moment, he was completely convinced that he knew how to answer the Druid's inquiries, that he knew exactly what had occurred and when and why and where. Yet he stumbled across an ambiguous detail in his memories.

Something seemed to be completely cut out of his mind, clarity blurring into a fog devoid of form and comprehension whenever he looked to what was supposed to be crucial to his experiences. Soren stared at Rei. His eyes would focus and then waver, unable to read the data he was seeking and certainly unable to interpret anything from Rei's form. He took to glancing around in the suspicion that something would trigger the void in his memories. Nothing assisted him in his search.

"I was taught," he replied passionlessly, "I am sure of it. Taught to view all which I intend to unveil, ancient arts forbidden to the weak of mind and heart. Whoever taught me, however, I cannot seem to recall."

He was gazing off to the side when a commoner brushed by. Soren's head jerked, his attention falling on that one stranger for just a moment like an alarmed animal. The Sage scrutinized the departing man for perhaps a few seconds before he hastily turned back to Rei.

"Would you prefer," he said, turning about, "to discuss in a location not so exposed? It seems we're barring the crowd's flow." The man who had ambled past had been irked with the two random magicians just standing in the middle of the market, doing nothing but exchange idle chatter. Soren peered through and between individuals as though searching for secret paths. "Do you have any preferences or recommendations?"

Had he been his other half, he would have bristled. Someone was watching.

The hospital in question was fairly close to the castle itself, located close to one of the back quarters. Perhaps the biggest reason for this was that in case of attack by outside forces, one could never have one's healers too far away from your best (and last) line of defense. In fact, it used to be on an upper level of the castle itself, but the hospital had earned enough money to move to a more accessible location months ago.

Amelia trudged in to a fairly large waiting room, with a reception desk at one end. Having been here a number of times, the receptionist knew her by hair now, and with a "Hello there Amelia, I'll go tell Doc Rhys you're here."

--------

A short while later, Rhys at last met her off in a meeting room near the entrance so they could talk in private. The only major change in Rhys as he appeared was a small facemask tied over his mouth by a tight string. Apparently, some of the staff observed Jin getting sick far less often than everyone else... diseases were contagious after all, and it wasn't uncommon for someone to fall sick (and yes, even die) from being in contact with sick patients.

Despite having an immune system that anyone could sneeze at and give him a cold, somehow Rhys had dodged the bullet thus far. Perhaps the man was just very lucky. But in any case, others started taking to wearing facemasks when dealing with sick patients--cases of the staff getting sick hadn't disappeared, but Rhys couldn't deny they'd gone down. Shortly thereafter, masks were a must (a move which made Jin feel much less out of place).

"Hello Amelia," he said as he removed the mask (and gloves--Jin had also worn gloves, and everyone knows those sayings about monkeys seeing and doing), giving her a smile. "How are you doing today? Having a good day off?"

Oh there were so many sweets and pastries, Clara didn't know what to choose. There were strawberry shortcakes, tea cakes, chocolate cake, ok maybe Clara was just looking at the cakes. She was in the mood for something sweet. She then saw something that made her make up her mind.

"Excuse me," She said politely, "I'm ready to order now." She hoped someone heard her and was going to take her order.

((Since work is hitting me, probably won't be able to keep up with the guild event entirely, so I'm going to free up Farina and that cook. Tibarn, hope you don't mind this post.))

Farina's order of tea with sugar and strawberry cake came shortly after. She paid the cook/waiter and started to munch on the cake. It was delicious to say the least. After finishing up and being just as cheery if not more energetic, Farina left a message with the waiter cook to give to Tibarn...er, or rather the head chef. The message was that the cake was great and that it'd be great in a cake making contest. With that, Farina, trudged into the cold again to look around and for Murphy.

User Image She was happy, that's good. It was a relief to know Tristai would treasure the item she had just bought. A faint blush grew across her cheek but she managed to keep smiling anyhow. "I'm glad.." Elly murmured, tipping her hat back further on her head.

Her hand was suddenly taken into the ranger's and was pulled out of the store. Wandering around sounded fun but then she heard the fact that Tristai had left a spoon in the sink. She frowned "Leave it to you to leave the dishes untouched again" by then she was used to it, but it was just one spoon..she could let that slide for today.

The sniper pondered a bit, looking around the town to see what more could be explored. There were many actually but none she knew where to start once more.
